  1. Check the kerb further along the road too, there may be scuff marks etc At least she's put herself in the car at the time of the accident. Also, why would she leave the scene if she thinks you were to blame too? Too many holes in the story.
  2. Sure a few quid could've been diverted from the ?500k Grove Vale 'improvement' scheme.
  3. James B is right in suggesting that zebra crossings would've been the better option. Despite being out of favour these days, they actually promote the concept of eye contact between road users which is one of the principles of the living streets movement. Traffic lights, especially ones located near junctions, create a false sense of priority and can cause motorists to dash through ambers and greens. The crossings on Barry road suffers from this. And traffic lights cause congestion. Look at the chaos with those temporary roadworks lights.
  4. I've done this before, absent-mindedly. Good for you!
  5. Or if the car's nicked or not registered to a bona fide address

Yes, as long as you're not in the bus lane between the hours of 07:00 - 10:00 Monday to Friday.

  8. They're just 6-sheets, the size of posters on bus stops. They're already part of the urban landscape and have been for years.
  9. @google: but the only thing missing in dulwich is high street cctv There is high street CCTV, but it's used to catch motorists parked in loading zones and bus lanes. It wouldn't be on your side street, nor should it be. And anyway, CCTV doesn't necessarily prevent crime, it just records it. Look at the summer riots and the 21/7 failed terror attacks (not 7/7, the cameras were 'broken') The easiest way to prevent burglary is to make it as unappealing as possible to the burglar - lights on timers, stuff hidden out of sight, good locks, windows closed. But even this isn;t enough sometimes.
  10. Fair point about Foxtons, or indeed any of the many estate agents, who all tend to use cars as means of showing folk around.
  11. When I rode past there was a couple of police cars, a police van and an unmarked car. The cops were talking to a mum in an Audi Q7
  12. Daylight robbery, as usual.
  13. You forgot 'councils'.

  15. It is a taster of what a traffic light-controlled junction at ED Road would be like.

In inner Melbourne suburbs, parking permits are given out FREE to residents, to stop shoppers and commuters taking up spaces in residential streets.
  17. For councils, the word 'Experimental', like the word 'temporary' generally means 'permanent'. Like those 'temporary' traffic lights on Forest Hill Road.
  18. The smart meter is great. I had the microwave, washer, oven and kettle on the other day and it nearly exploded.
  19. Yes, off LL. Clocks messed up.
  20. Hence the dubious permit fee links to a vehicle's CO2 emissions, even if the car is parked all day long.
  21. James, you forgot about the ones trialled in Southwark: http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/2010/08/20/20mph-average-speed-cameras/
  22. They sound a bit bigger than six-sheets.
  23. FENTON! JESUS CHRIST!
  24. No restrictions on Saturday. They're probably after double-yellow parkers on corner by the cashpoints.
