This is the most immature thread I've seen since the "Take a picture of your poo and upload it" thread.
  2. after the Wire, may I suggest Mad Men. Terrific.
  3. I think Pillars of the Earth is a little 'flabby' - the narrative is a bit ponderous but I'm loving the action and I think the casting of the characters is really good - apart from William who I thought would be a lot more rumbunctious. More of a rugger bugger. Still, a enjoying it quite alot but its not really holding me. Isnt X factor for children and the simple?
  4. do England still play rugby? I thought we gave up on the 23 November 2003?
  5. does anyone know any decent taxidermists? avoid this whole palaver altogether and leave a lasting momento for your loved ones.
  6. licked my elbow
  7. its like the black death all over again
  8. Dear Silverfox, I have become accustomed, nay, addicted, to, shall we say, the finer things in life and I have developed gout in my face. Your advice would be gratefully received.
  9. Miss felt-tip started to cry at the altar and I tersely said under my breath "pull yourself together for god's sake" but I said it louder than intended and the vicar's mic picked it up, some people gasped and the vicar was thrown off course. I had to take control of the situation and pointed at the vicar and (pretending my original invective was directed at the vicar) said loudly "you're getting even worse. come on!" The reaction made me think that I'd made things worse and so I just stood in simmering silence glowering at my bride to be for starting it all and ruining my day.
  10. I passed brownies off as my own last weekend at a JTB dinner party I hosted. They were from Borough Market (Cinnamon Village?) and I gave them a quick 'toasting' on either side in a pan and they were magic. Served with vanilla ice-cream.
  11. sainsbos own Dao is tip top. Often on at half price ?5. Bonza.
  12. Hi there - I have recently agreed to take a couple of unpaid 'parental leave' weeks with my employer. They were absolutely fine about it - however there werent any clear 'processes' or anything on the employee intranet. I just asked my boss and then informed HR that I'm taking unpaid leave then. It was easy as pie.
  13. Thanks! I will check it out.
  14. Do a good turn and see where it gets ya, hey? Society today. Tsk.
  15. are there any nouveaux nights in ED?
  16. This whole sorry episode just stinks of the kind of social decay we've been seeing in East Dulwich recently.
  17. a dog's inability to wipe its own arse is something that can surely be rectified with careful breeding...?
  18. The most distressing thing about this whole thread is that people in Brixton can get to Dulwich in 9 minutes. Be careful out there people.

  20. That is hilarious!
  21. You should report him. This sounds dangerous and immoral.
  22. alternatively, head up Underhill Rd. opposite the Harvester you can head up into Sydenham Woods, keep following the paths to the right and you will come out on a steep alley way that had the Dulwich Woodhouse to the left (up the hill) and Sydenham Hill station to your right. If you go right and then follow College Rd past Dulwich College - over the A205 and then turn into Dulwich Park you can then follow the wooded dog walking track all the way around the park. Departing at the Court Lane exit and going straight ahead brings you out at the Plough and from there, home.
  23. I'm not sure if you're allowed dogs in cemeteries but if you enter Camberwell Old Cemetery you could join up with the new Green Chain walk (do a google search for "Dulwich Green Chain") and it takes you up into Brenchley Gardens / One Tree Hill and then over to Camberwell New - down into Nunhead Cemtery and then turn left on Linden Grove and back across Peckham Rye. Just follow the Green Chain signs.
  24. at which point does a cylinder become a disc?
