  1. Morpurgo's Christmas stories are great. This year, we're reading a Boy Called Christmas and Winter Magic, which is a collection of short stories. Also second Christmas on Exeter Street. Finally, I noticed today that Chener Books has a lovely Christmas window. Well worth having a look there.
  2. Results are usually made available to be public mid-December. But schools can individually let parents know how they've done - in our school that's usually done before the summer break. Bear in mind that the 2016 set of results is based on the new curriculum and a new grading system so not sure how easy it will be to compare with the 2015 set.
  3. I can't recommend Naomi highly enough: 07976 214791. She's fantastic.
  4. My daughter would never engage at nursery. I used to come in, see lots of children sitting nicely, listening to a story, and my daughter would be doing something totally different, somewhere else in the room. it's not uncommon at all. Seven years on, she's well adjusted at school. Speak to them and try not to worry.
  5. Look at the French brands (but wait for the end of sales or visit their outlets): petit bateau, Cyrillus, serjent major, du pareil au meme. I also go to gap outlets.
  6. Hate the ferry and seeing people drink beer early in the morning and adults walking around in their onesies/dressing gowns...
  7. I lost my Moonsoon burgundy velvet jacket last week (Sunday, sept 11) Could be at Franck's, in Peckham rye park, or on Dunstans Road. Thank you.
  8. i can't see what's in it for us regarding the works at LB. we've lost train services which will never get reinstated, put up with years of commuting misery and this morning, I'm sat on a train which is leaving countless trains go past at high speed, the congestion hadn't eased.
  9. Can anyone recommend a really good swimming instructor/course for my 7-year-old? She's been having weekly lessons for two years and still can't swim. Thank you in advance for any ideas/advice.
  10. She has a bloody cheek but trying to cancel out her kids' noise with your own noise can only serve to upset your other neighbours. I'd ask her to move the fort if I were you or ask her to get her saintly kids to shut up.
  11. Couldn't agree more rahrahrah
  12. I've just been turned away from Honor Oak station. No trains due to new sink hole. Staff were pessimistic re; resuming service soon.
  13. Thank you, everybody. We're going to block holes, get some humane traps and monitor the situation. There's building work next door and I think this might have disturbed some mice.
  14. Yes, I think so. It did have a thick tail, which made me wonder. In any event, yuk! Thank you!
  15. Here's the beast...
  16. I'm trying to upload it. Bear with me. Totally grossed out!
  17. This creature has just come out of my daughter's Barbie house. Mouse or rat?
  18. Report it ASAP, don't wait until you have a few entries in your diary. The noise officers will visit your neighbours and explain that they can, if this happens again, seize the equipment. It should calm them down.
  19. We just had a fab day watching the jousting at Hever Castle. It was simply outstanding: stunning horses, plenty of "wow" stunts etc... It's on every weekend all summer. Thought I'd share.
  20. Thank you, Burbage. I'm eligible. I've finally found the option that fits me buried at the bottom of a page. Now hunting for payslips and proof of address... Might call Citizen Advice Bureau for help too, good idea. Thanks!
  21. Hi everyone, I'm looking to speak to EEA nationals who've been granted UK citizenship (or going through the process). I'm a bit lost. The www.gov.uk website tells me I need a residence card before I can apply for citizenship but when I download the application form, none of the options seem to apply to me. Can anyone help please? Thank you.
  22. I posted a letter from govia on this forum last year. They were blaming delays on lack of drivers and everything would be better in April 2016... They've got no idea what they're doing.
  23. I think it is time to remove Claire Perry, yes. She's just got no idea. The sloppiness of the letter is proof she doesn't care.
