  1. Video Killed the Radio Star - The Buggles
  2. Too funny :))
  3. That's not fair DJQ - some people just go to pieces under exam conditions. My answer to that is tough....there's no other way to test if a driver is able enough. Most people get nervous during their driving test but it doesn't affect their ability to drive. If it does, they are not ready to be given a licence to drive.
  4. lol....the chest of drawers will win it I'll bet!
  5. Anyone watching it?
  6. If you stopped the lower classes drinking then there would be nothing to watch on Police Stop! True LOL....a whole section of broadcasting, Police and Paramedics would be rendered obsolete .....
  7. There are always going to be accidents whatever you do. Some drivers are just negligent or just not good enough drivers. Barry Road is hardly an accident blackspot and most drivers have no problems negotiating difficult junctions. Maybe we should do something about the poor standards of some drivers instead....such as making the driving test more difficult than it is and maybe limiting the number of times you can take it. After all, if a person takes ten attempts to pass it then they are never going to be a good driver.
  8. Nik Kershaw - Liverpool Empire. Would have been the Wombles but the gig was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales (that was a narrow escape!)
  9. Radio Ga Ga - Queen
  10. There's a French movie called 'L'Homme Qui Aime Les Femmes' in which a man is told by his doctor that work was only invented to stop us having sex all day!
  11. France were terrible but I knew they would be. Those horn things are really annoying after a while...sound like as a mosquito swarm is about to land. Has anyone else entered 'the Sun' dream team thing online?
  12. It should be legally compulsary for all citizens to support a team during the world cup and I'm gessing those asking for footy free pubs are looking to escape footy mad husbands that have turned the family home into a stadium for four weeks hee hee.
  13. Yes Pecky, it's very accessable. Just go down there and take a look. There are lots of things going on in the Copeland area, so it's always full of life. Most of the artists would be more than happy to show you around.
  14. I'm pretty sure it's only a pipe dream at the moment. Peckham Vision have drawn up plans but I think that's as far as it has got. Until Boris became elected as major, the Lib Drem council's great plan was to sell it off for a massive 24 hour tram depot maintenance yard - thank godness that folly was averted.
  15. I recommend a company called electromarket for DJ/ PA equipment. You need a system really that is minumum 400 watts.
  16. The more these children are nurtured and encouraged to develop, the more their confidence and their motivation to do well are likely to increase. Totally agree with all that. And it also would serve to get children interested in the process of education itself, because to learn well, you have to like to learn. Far too often we hear it said that school needs to be more fun but of course the reality of life is that hard work often isn't fun. But to work hard might be the only way to get to a fun place. So I think children not only need to be encouraged to want to learn as early as possible, but also need to understand that learning will sometimes be just about perseverance and hard work. At the moment at the first sign of 'hard work' too many children give up.
  17. Yeah Rio def out. TBH tho Rio wasn't at his sharpest in the two warm up friendlies and against the better sides, players need to be fit and in form so it might not be the worst thing to have lost him.
  18. Just close the door - it's simple. These guys know they are preying on your good manners to not tell then F* off. Besides most genuine charities just ask for donations or have fund raising events. They don't knock on your door trying to sell you something - and if they do, they'll have ID cards and other stuff to show they are a genuine representative of that charity. Common sense guys - it's a scam - just close your door, and if they get abusive or damage your property, call the police.
  19. I'm sure the council will only be too happy to cut back any foliage where there's an obstruction to pedestrians. Just common sense.
  20. The more that comes out the more it suggests that Isreal's real problem with these ships is that one or more of them was manned mainly by Turkish peace activists. THAT I think is the key to whatever went on.
  21. I read North Korea have tried to pull a fast one by naming a centre forward as their 3rd goalie. FIFA has responded to this by saying that goalkeepers can only play in goals! Call the UN - get sanctions against N.Korea.....oh hang on ...wrong thread >:D<
  22. Smoking is an interesting example because far fewer people smoke than did 30 years ago for example. Most of that has been due to the success of the message on health risks. Cost has not been the prohibitive factor. When the cost gets too high, those that can't afford it find ways they can afford, via the black market. In other words, prohibition, or methods that have a similar effect in part (like pricing) just do not work. They do however allow the government to be seen to do something whilst raking in even more tax.
  23. The following is basically a list of what the researchers believe should be priorities in terms of reducing existing educational inequalities pre-(state)-school. Yep I totally agree with all those suggested measures LM. I think they would make a huge difference to the chances of disadvantaged children.
  24. Isn't it more the case that the government wants to be 'seen' to be doing something when we all know it won't make one iota of difference. I personally am fed up of being taxed for this and that because of the behaviour of a wrecklesss few. We already have fake cigarettes flooding into the country causing far more damage to people's health than legal cigarettes. There have also been problems with fake Vodka. What government should be asking is what is it that makes people want to numb themselves to oblivion with alcohol in the first place? and then do something about that (if it can).
  25. I accept the reasoning for transferring/ closing the museum. But what was the thinking behind selling off the building when it could have been leased for a new use. Thankfully legislation stopped that little folly.
