I agree with that wholeheartedly, but you didn't spell it out in your original post. -

Would you prefer that they sit on the pavement? -
A massive overstatement. Although it is expensive and shouldn't been privatised in the first place, it is much better than it was, say, 10 years ago. That is not to say that there couldn't be further improvements. And before anyone steps in to say that privatisation has worked, there have also been big improvements in the publicly run TfL. The reason for the improvements in both networks - much more money invested in the industry.

My late mother used to say "preggers". And she was born in 1912. -

Isn't "soz" the sort of word that a two year old would use, because they ae unable to say the word "sorry"? So much of the language used today is baby language e.g. cozzy, footy, barby, sarnie (i.e. several words ending in "y" or "ie"). Who has been responsible for this? Australians? -

No, but it doesn't make him less attractive (if that were possible). -

Spot on, Dopamine! The shorts that these kind of blokes wear also don't exactly enhance their appeal. -

Ponytails on men. Especially men who are in their 50s and 60s and are bald on top (and probably 3 stone overweight) but who persist in tying their grey hair back in a ponytail. -

"My bad" sounds like something that a two year old child might say because they had acquired a proper knowledge of the English language. But the commercial world tries to treat us like small kids. "I'm fresh - eat me now" - not a female porn actress but a piece of fruit. -
What, a nuclear power station really is being planned? I will certainly oppose it.

As Wetherspoons have no further information regarding who it will be sold to, the persistent rumour that it will be converted into a nuclear power station is not completely unfounded

People in supermarket queues who, after they've packed all their shopping in their trolley, only then start to rummage around looking for their money or cards, as if they're thinking "Oh, I see, you're expecting me to pay for this stuff". -
I first posted the following on the "Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage". However, it was suggested that this was neither a "Tiny Little Thing" nor was it "irrational". So here it is on a new thread: People who feel that it's right to share on Facebook etc horrific photos of people in war zones such as Gaza with their faces blown off or lying in bits and pieces. I've had to "unfriend" someone who did this the other day. This is insulting to the relatives and friends of the victim who probably didn't give permission for this and who will probably be horrified to have the photo spread throughout social media. It is also insulting to compassionate and adult people who will probably agree with the poster that the conflict that led to the photo is awful but who are savvy enough to know that, unlike in a computer game, a body that is hit by a bomb doesn't just fall over and lie there but is likely to be blown to pieces. We can use our imagination and have got past the stage of accepting that when Jerry the Mouse flattens Tom with a frying pan, Tom will re-emerge totally unscathed in the next scene. In fact I would go further and call it atrocity porn.

< However, it's not 'irrational' or a 'tiny little thing' Perhaps I should have started a new thread entitle "Bloody Enormous Things That Cause You Rational Rage". Indeed perhaps I will. -

Use of the American word "outage" when there is the perfectly good English word "failure". -
So does it normally take you five months to send a very insulting reply to a post, stevenmarsden? Methinks the intended result was someowhat defeated.

South London has benefited in the last 20 years from the Jubilee Line Extension, DLR extension to Lewisham, Overground expansion to Clapham Junction, Croydon, New Cross and Crystal Palace and the resignalling of the Jubilee and Victoria Lines. There is also the impending Northern Link extension to Battersea. Things could have been better and a Bakerloo Line extension is way overdue. But the situation is a darn sight better than when we moved from NE London to Greenwich 36 years ago and then to Dulwich 27 years ago. And there's also the Croydon Tramlink, not to mention the much improved bus services.

Sadness at changing atmosphere of East Dulwich

"The Peck"! Is this really the new lovable nickname for the neighbourhood formerly known as Peckham? How about Catters for Catford and Lewy for Lewisham? -
Sadness at changing atmosphere of East Dulwich
Zebedee Tring replied to vanstone's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We've lived in ED for 27 years. There have always been nice people here and there have always been objectionable people - the percentage in each category doesn't appear to have changed much over the years. Of course the area has changed but in most ways for the better. Having said that, if the couple at The Clockhouse had asked me to look after their baby while they drank and ate inside the pub, I would have replied something the lines "If you want children, you should look after them yourself or get a family member or friend to do so". Indeed, after what happened to Madeleine McCann, I would have thought that it would be very foolish for any responsible parent to leave a baby or child with a stranger in such circumstances. -
Oddbins coming to Lordship Lane !!

Didn't Oddbins go into administration some time ago? If so, did Seagrams buy them before or after they went into administration? -

Describing something as a "..... to die for". Why would anyone be prepared to die in order to get their hands on, say, a cupcake?
