  1. I haven't read all this thread but I do know, as my boy used to attend the after school club, that at that time (several years ago) the DMC were trying to buy most the land next door to build an extension. As the club provided a very good service for working parents especially and the kids, there were various meetings organised to oppose this. If this is part of the current plan then I would oppose it regardless of what they built there. I have no reason to believe the DMC is a charity.
  2. Not recently!

In my experience the over 60's and kids are about equally as interesting to talk to. One section is just starting out on the adventure of life and like a sponge takes everything in, the other has been there and done that and they often wonder what it was all about. Can't say I know all the answers but beats questions about house prices in ED or where to go to avoid kids for that matter!
  4. I hardly read the papers. I don't have the time so I don't know what they write. I see some TV news and understand they are considered murderers by some parties in Portugal. I don't think they are murderers as that requires a degree of hate to even contemplate. They don't seem to have that ingredient. Why would they? A four year old.........why? But why leave your children alone is another question?
  5. Well I hardly go out (except to work)so suppose so!
  6. I think I meant noisily............but that could be spelt incorrectly and nosy is pretty accurate too. Do you remember ever being asked the question Why? to everything you took for granted but for a new little being it was like being told about flying saucers and just wanting to know what the SP was on flying saucers? Great!

I couldn't care less what the press say. Those parents are not murderers even if for some reason their child died due to a moments neglect. Can you explain what you mean by 'genuine concern for the welfare of children' so that those who don't have it will understand?
  8. Indeed I was referring to that Sean but due to my lack of familarity with your way with words was unsure of your meaning. However am delighted to discover someone whose words make sense yet could mean many things, which I find is just about the most fun one can have in a serious world!.............at least with words anyway.
  9. quasi-titillating and mythical bogeyman..................unfathomable hysteria.............what are you talking about? Are YOU part of a problem or a solution? If so which do you you think? Presumably you buy the media you refer to in the form of a newspaper.
  10. Now you've lost me if it were me you were referring to! Centurion?
  11. Hang on Ladygooner.............my kid is 16 and would probably rather die than be seen out with his parents. Kids are generally more intertesting than their parents who are completely obsessed by them and don't realise the kids are actually living their own lives (albeit nosily) unaware of what adults think of them. I wish I could remember how to do that!
  12. Sean...have you tidied your newspapers up today?
  13. I only ever go out to the Thai Corner Cafe where sometimes there are well behaved kids. What's wrong with kids? You were one once!

Just how plausible is it to keep a body for three weeks anywhere without it smelling?
  15. I've gone to Mrs.Lynch for some time but lost the faith. How would it be if I arranged to see him?
  16. Just reading this thread now but as far as rules go in this country I believe it is against the law to leave children under the age of 12 alone. May have more or less to add when I finish reading.
  17. Can you confirm Mr.Daly is above the chemists on Northcross rd where Mrs.Lynch is?
  18. Has anyone else received an e-mail from the above saying you have won ?2M today? Not only that I supposedly also won another ?2m from Uefa.com randomly. I don't think I'm ?4M richer today but would be happy to hear confirmation that I am. I use AOl and both mails went to my spam box.

    a joke

HELL EXPLAINED BY CHEMISTRY STUDENT The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well. Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added. This gives two possibilities: 1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose. 2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God." THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A"
  21. That's one of my self-debates!
  22. What is strange is that that you think everyone thinks the same way as you do. The rest of you are down the pub having a pint leaving me to self-debate. I bet you have your own pint though unless of course there is comfort to be found in sharing one using straws!Either way I'll leave you too it. I much prefer wine.
  23. Really.............perhaps it could be revived by looking for anagrams for 'reviving gay drinks at the rye'
  24. But it's unconscious....
