  1. Oh dear. Doncha just love people.
  2. Yayy! I just read that in the Friends of Peckham Rye Park Newsletter! Thanks. OK then, if anyone wants to play and don't have a bat, PM me and we could try and play now and again. Weekends are not good for me though.
  3. ooh thanks. Both are a bit far for me, but thanks for mentioning them!
  4. The table tennis table has arrived in Peckham Rye Park. I have just bought two new bats and balls. So if anyone wants to play (I'm not bad, was a great player as a kid but way out of practice) let me know and we can try and play when it's nice. Weekday morning preferable. Edited heavily, and so the following posts by kind posters who replied to my original message may not make sense.
  5. It is humans who define themselves as owners thus when the cats who are beyond mere language do not come back, they are considered lost. But the picture above - proving they are beyond mere language - says it beautifully, although I suspect that particular cat was not drinking anything 'lite'. We had cats who hated going out. It was fine, but they do at least need the option. Kubrick got rather fat and indeed a plumber once looked at him and said "Watches telly and drinks beer a lot does he?" We hired another plumber.
  6. I have seen kids with laser pen things. Don't know if it is possible to blind a bird using one of them? But as far as cats are concerned, put a collar with a bell on it. Save the birds!
  7. I noticed the same thing at the PeckMex or whatever it was, streetfood festival a couple of weekends ago. Not representative at all. Sad really. Similarly the Peckham Society (which is fabulous for the historical knowledge sharing of the history of Peckham) is not representative but that's understandable. If you were to take a hundred people walking down Rye Lane at any one time would they be representative of SE15? Not a clue mate.
  8. Mickey Smith 'founded the Bussey Building'?!
  9. Please join the Leaseholders Association of Southwark 2000 (aka 'LAS 200'.) They are very knowledgable, run by volunteers but volunteers who know their stuff, and have successfully fought against Southwark on various excessive charges in years gone by, and will help you. They don't reply very quickly because as I said they are volunteers and many of them/us work, but maybe you may have skills you could offer too. (ie ask not what your LAS2000...) but please do consider joining, and they may be able to advise. However, everyone's posts above has been pretty good too! LAS2000 P O Box 23394 LONDON SE16 2WA Write and ask for details of joining. I think it's ?30 a year or something.
  10. I like 'em. And they pull their trousers up.
  11. Lived here 30 years this year. Just keeps getting better and better. Mate of mine in Chelsea SW10 thinking of joining me. Depends where abouts you are and which area and where the bad guys live. Bad guys also live in posh areas too y'know. And even if they don't live there they know you have more to steal so they'll come visit.
  12. Curious, I posted similar on my Facebook page last week except that I put lemons in freezer first, then after defrosting the whole of the lemon can be blended and used and sieved!
  13. Rhymes with butch.

    Juicers

Ditto. And I use the pulp to put in bread or muffins. Scrummy.
  15. Oilworker, 1) bikers don't all wear leathers - too hot in summer too cold in winter and there are better materials. 2) not all bikers have great lungs, and can't cycle because of health reasons. That's why. Happy cycling.
  16. and what does 'goss' mean?
  17. 'HAHAHA' I'm a biker but not a group type rider. Try "The London Bikers", they do riding together, and there are quite a few of us bikers on here. Ride safely.
  18. I think if someone had the ability to develop an app, we should have to pay for it. For now I either go in via the web, and enlarge the letters so I can read it, or I don't bother.
  19. I rang BT a few weeks ago whinging about the fact our block is the only one in the little estate that has not got Infinity, and the fact that the Broadband was sometimes stopping though to be fair it came back after tioatioa (turning it on and turning it off again!) We have phone telly (I disagree, I think BT Vision is fine though we don't watch a lot of telly) and broadband all with BT and a free VOIP line, with cheaper overseas costs when used. I asked why I should not go with Sky. She cut my bill by ?8 a month and sent me the very latest new Hub. She could not answer why we haven't got Infinity, or when we will get it. But that'll do me.
  20. The council has a very good Arborist or whatever the profession is called, who has just helped us save some trees from being way over pruned by the scissor happy tree surgeons. His surname is Gonzales and I would recommend you seek him out via the council website if you can, or just phone the council to ask to be put through to his line.
  21. Thanks for this cs. My Dad served in Korea. He was part of REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers). He has never talked about it and now his memories are going. I have gently tried to encourage him to talk, but he won't. His older sister reported she knew he had been injured, and recovered in a Singapore Hospital, but he won't deny or accept that. Mum has dementia so anything he told her (they married 1955) has long since gone.
  22. The job has been deleted from the site. Do tell, what was it!
  23. I read the Huffington Post. Happy to be defined by that. Mainly because I don't give a damn how people want to judge or define me. It's how they treat me that counts.
