southwark council service charge
PeckhamRose replied to fredbear's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
LAS have not responded to two of my letters even with SAEs. I think they are overwhelmed and their expert-volunteer base is a bit low as some are retiring. So I would suggest turning up to their Meeting as advised above in my earlier post. Ask not what your LAS can do for you but what you can do for LAS2000! They ARE useful and have done some incredible work in identifying where Southwark Council vastly over charges service charges and so on, but they're not miracle workers and they need new people to come and support and help them do their work for the benefit of all Southwark Leaseholders. Just sayin'. -
If you decide to change your mind and go into people's houses, it may make them feel more comfortable and thus they may learn more. Just a thought. If you go down this route, I highly recommend you get public liability insurance (I got mine from a well known company charging the least amount, PM me for details), and also, tell someone where you are going and the name of the person you are seeing and what time you will be back by. Basic common sense, but good practice.

southwark council service charge

Hi First, some links with information: http://www.justice.gov.uk/tribunals/property-chamber Firstly, before you get to LVT you should try and get to the Housing CAB. They could help you bring any case you have. Also try going directly to the Home Ownership Unit on Abbeyfield Road in Bermondsey, make an appointment with a name on your invoice. I recently did this and challenged and invoice wanting an extra ?2000 off me, and they admitted they had over charged me nearly a thousand pounds of it! They so very nearly got away with it. And very importantly the Leaseholders Association of Southwark are having a meeting at 7pm at Pasley Tenants and residents Association, Stopford Road, London SE17. I urge all Southwark Leaseholders to come along and also join LAS. LAS is all run by Volunteers and so if you have any time, or skills you can offer, they/we would be very grateful as some very experienced and helpful members of the Committee are now resigning and organisations like this do need more input from us. Hope some of this helps. PM me with your email address and I shall forward you a PDF file being LAS's latest newsletter. -
parking ticket on motorcycle outside Sainsbury's
PeckhamRose replied to macutd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
So the area right next to the car park against the window of the store, is not part of the car park? Not part of the remit area of the ticketers? ooh goodee. I have seen cars parked in the bikers area before, and they were left alone! -

I rarely use the designated motorcycle parking bay at Sainsburys specially when it's raining, and I park somewhere near the seats outside the coffee shop area. When moving off I always let others go first and make sure there's no kids running near me. Basic manners and common sense. The bikes I often see there are not in anyone's way as the walking area part is along the path out of the way of the tables/seating anyway and the large fixed advertising board that sticks out perpendicular from the store window parallel to the area where all the trolleys are stored, so you can't walk there anyway. Ticketing bikes there is just sad and pointless. We're not a problem, far more dangerous is what I agree is the poor design of the car park, and cars driving out too fast. I successfully highlighted the dangerous zebra crossing area which had a blind spot so the cars couldn't see the pedestrians coming. They sorted that! -

I also feel very lucky to live here. No garden - though balconies - but across the road is Peckham Rye Park! -
Co-Op on Forest Hill Rd soon to get a refit
PeckhamRose replied to fl0wer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I wonder how the American Hedge fund will affect the whole Co-op brand. This includes the funerals too. It has completely lost its reason for being which was set up in the 1600s or something. Membership means nothing, the co-operative ethos is no more, if American Hedge Funds are part of it. I'm just getting me milk there. Now, what alternative ethical bank can I move my money to? -

Cranks bread? It's the Co-op, it hasn't the room for the basics! I think they should sell LESS stuff and stop trying to make out like it's a Tesco Metro or something. -
Considering that the meteorologists were able to predict this storm on the basis of some minor chinks in some isobars off Florida, that had not even grown to being a storm yet, I think it is pretty astounding how they not only predicted what would happen but where it would happen. The technology has improved but more importantly the skills of the meteorologists to make sense of what they are seeing. Hoorah!

The Co-op is now part owned by American Hedge funds. So expect a welcome on the door? http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-2475851/Co-op-facing-battle-ceding-control-hedge-funds.html -

I was caught in a stuck queue in the Blackwall Tunnel on Saturday and a police bike zoomed down and as it caught up with us bikers near the exit, the sound of it - echoing around and around the tunnel - was truly deafening even with a helmet on. and the lights bouncing around made one suddenly feel like being in the middle of a live video game. Temptation to race the police biker out the other side of the Tunnel was, thankfully, suppressed.

kikimac and others, there was a Patients Forum meeting last week (for Nunhead Grove), if you are not already members I would recommend you consider coming along (anyone can come) and the details are in the surgery. They always take any complaints very seriously and recent complaints made on the NHS websites hurt them greatly so they are taking steps to deal with it and ensure the training of reception staff is always up to scratch. Shame DMC and others don't follow suit.

edcam that is futile little nasty little comment. Life is about living and doing one's best, despite the rules telling us what to do, how to do it, where to do it, telling us how to carry on a profession we've already spent years training and are now qualified to do, and despite the rules designed to raise funds by forcing us in to little spaces and little mind spaces. Meh!

A flat near me renovated and had to be redone by Southwark because the cowboys who put in the lowest tender did so for a reason. So it ended up costing Southwark much more money in the end. Being sent no less than 3 useless Southwark magazines every quarter. Renting two garages but completely incapable of putting both on one account so I get two lots of bills and magazines put in both every time. Being sent incorrect service charge statements again, and again, and again and again, despite emails telling me the correct figure. Constant time wasting and money wasting public consultations (including the Community Councils) on things that already have a date for implementation anyway. All these tiny things, to one Southwark person.

Recommended beauty treatment place in Richmond or Kingston please

Um.... ask their forum if they have one? -
It's used in addresses in USA all the time where there is a suite number or apartment number, which I always thought weird.

I know they're not the cheapest but I love the good service I get and have been a customer over 20 years. Sadly they are moving to Lewisham now they have been bought by Boots Opticians. But Stephen Butler, the Franchise Holder of D&A, is a lovely character and I shall miss him. But the property is in an appalling state. My Nationwide moved out to Lewisham years ago, now my Opticians has! Oh well, don't mind going to Lewisham, I love the street markets. But it is a shame for Rye Lane.

You must get the wording right. My husband borrowed my bike and parked it in B&Q or somewhere, and it was just over the line (so that another car could have parked in the space) he was being considerate. Anyway I had the letter asking me if I was riding the bike and if not me who was it, and I just said it wasn't me. Then sought advice from Consumer Direct or someone on exactly how to word my written reply to further bullying and then a bailiff, and the bailiff then wrote and said case closed, sort of thing.

Do write to the Peckham Society about this. They like publishing this sort of thing x

There are many trinket shops on Lordship Lane and surrounds, because people keep going in all of them and buying things.
