  1. You may want to contact John Beasley who may know who might want to have sight of this photo, for historical records!
  2. Mr PR said air ambulance was around too.
  3. local builder Mark turns up on time to appear on telly! Who'd he let down. No builders turn up on time!
  4. Awwww bless 'em! Reminds me as always how incredibly lucky I am to live where I am with no mortgage now. Very lucky.
  5. And how many cyclists and pedestrians were on their mobiles at the time. Can we just stop always blaming just one or two sections of the road users?
  6. At the entrances to Peckham Rye Park are lots of notices telling people that they are not allowed to have BBQs, but sure enough today I saw a couple with a BBQ and the fire had to be less than 12 inches from a whole large area of one of the many cut long dry grass sections. I approached and politely asked them to put the fire out, explaining that there were notices that it was not allowed but the reason being that it was dangerous. To be fair they put it out. I feared an argument or "What the hell has it got to do with you?" argument. Be brave! But where is the common sense these days! (And other comments making me sound one hundred and twenty years old.)
  7. Exactly.I hardly ever use busses and for when I do I have an Oyster card. Some of you are making the assumption everyone thinks ahead like we do, and also that they are able to know about everything. What about occasional visitors to London? I think the few who use cash should be allowed to use it. And by the way, I know a lot of people old and young who still use cash at supermarkets and other / all shops. Indeed it is often quicker to do so. I shall always use cash, Oyster is useful and I would be happy to be able to use it to tap in and out for all things I buy, too. But please don't assume everyone's capable and socially aware of everything like some of you are.
  8. Kids / Young Adults. To me Young Adults is kids! And if someone has a free Oyster card stolen, it can be done for spite, and the result is the same, robbed kid can't get on bus.
  9. As can Oyster cards be forcibly removed. But then a kind person could give said robbed kid / young adult / some cash for the bus home. Which they then would not be allowed to use.
  10. Sorry, this is on the East Dulwich section, though why it's not lounged I don't know as it does not relate just to East Dulwich.
  11. I do. I love dogs. But sometimes dogs trample the planting. It's an enclosed formal garden. Not much to ask.
  12. Very sorry this has happened and I would suggest you come to the next Police Ward Panel which covers that area I think (look on met police website or I'll post it later when I find it), and to the person who snuck in a sly attack on budgets for the artwork on the bollards: different budget, and I think they're worth the money for the small amount the artist was paid. Secondly, there are cameras against shops I believe, but on a self defence level I would always recommend having something to hand ready. A paper for example can be rolled up. Keys can hurt if there's nothing else around. I do hope you are okay and thanks to the couple for looking after you too!
  13. https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/cashless
  14. I think there's a new learner group starting soon. PM you.
  15. Went to Hampstead Heath today. Loads and loads there.
  16. People trying to get home late night, tourists not realising they have to get an oyster or whatever. Banning cash is daft. I have an Oyster because I live here and it's easy, but I will always pay cash in shops and supermarkets, and everywhere else for everything else. Love cash, me. Online is different. Though I think I saw a new Cash Acceptance app on the market...
  17. So maybe my information is now out of date ;)
  18. Nope, I spoke with gardeners there and they told me that as people's dogs keep being allowed in the Sexby garden off the lead (previous signs seem to be taken down telling dogs owners to put dogs on leads), the dogs go in to fountain and screw up the wiring within. Don't shoot the messenger!
  19. "As there is nowhere 'at the front' that motorcyclists are legally allowed to occupy, there is no justification for them overtaking on the approach to a junction, as the Highway Code makes amply clear." But, but but but. As previously mentioned by me, the London Borough of Newham absolutely definitely encourages and allows motorcycles to overtake the traffic and share the box at the front with the cycles. And nobody whinges about it. I have to ride around that borough quite regularly.
  20. And would that image appear on BBC or a commercial channel, Annette Curtain?
  21. If there's a bob or two? It's mostly unpaid or poorly paid Interns actually doing the work in those kind of TV shows these days. Nope, this is just another horrid TV crap unreality show.
  22. Yup, today just got an invoice for ?2,000 plus, which is ?2,000 plus more than we paid them for, for work finished over three years ago! And we have a letter from 18 months ago saying that they had the figures and would get round to invoicing folk accordingly. So the invoice today has taken them 18 months to prepare. Incorrect info on the details in that they listed stuff that they say had been done that had not indeed been done, but it has been invoiced. Lots of work to do there, then. Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and Leaseholders Association of Southwark here we come....
