  1. Live and let live. Noooo I hate that phrase. It means someone will walk on by while some injustice is going on around you, it condones bullying of one sort or another. It allows for observed wrongdoing.
  2. I used to go out with a radio DJ, when we'd walk under a bridge I couldn't hear a damn thing she was saying. I bought powdered water. You just add water. I bought a pack of batteries. Batteries not included. (I love American comic Steve Wright)
  3. ?2 T e s c o s
  4. alice has cut and pasted a private message she sent me, above. I have sent her the link to the CGS page on southwark council's website. The application time is now up for this round. Again, the negativity is so sad. And meanwhile back to my opening post, I wonder when the tree carving will be unveiled!
  5. Leaseholders CAB have hired housing specialists with law degrees. It's free. HERE is the Link! http://www.southwarkcabservice.org.uk/
  6. Check the Eighteen Month Rule. Get advice from the Leaseholders CAB. Were you at the LAS meeting as advertised? You'd have heard about it. But look them up and call them and try meet them.
  7. Alice I have PMd you some information. Do you not think it a GOOD thing that Cleaner Greener Safer money goes to artists? If you checked information before coming out with negative stuff first, you'd see that people applying for CGS money have to fill out quite a detailed form. I won some money for my local area ages ago. So I know. And yes, the work has gone on for longer than the artist originally stated it might, earlier, but he also stated that all the nails in the wood kept blunting his tools. And it is indeed very difficult to judge how long art is going to take, plus we do not know the personal circumstances of the artist concerned. I look forward to the unveiling!
  8. Huggers, I totally agree with you re the expensive PETROL leaf blowing machines the guys hold. I did email the council about it a few years ago and they told me that they were more financially efficient. What can yer do.
  9. This looks soon to be ready. There appears to be a crane situation with a cover over it, like it is going to be officially unveiled. Anyone know anything about this? I'd love to be there!
  10. From the top of the 343 I had a peek down at the tree carving the other day. Looking Goooooood!
  11. My boys and girls* know my call now, and they come and wait for me. Some I think they recognise the sound of the motorcycle engine and know to come and wait by the garage. And then I will feed them. I have seen them with some of the cats actually walking around together, and a neighbour who walks her dogs on leads, she feeds the foxes and neither foxes or dogs are scared of one another. I am so sorry others have huge problems with them. * foxes, obviously.
  12. Yes indeed I got the request to open event viewer. And as I said at the getgo, when they wanted to share my screen I said no. I have also spent endless minutes stringing them along, but when they initially call you the call appears to be made then the machine is voice operated. By this I mean, if you say Hello, someone will then talk with you. If you say nothing, it cuts out. One woman told me her name was Stella and that it was a French name. All told in a perfect Asian accent.
  13. I have. Loads of them. One had me do a few checks on lap top which - as I had time to kill and was writing everything down and knew what he was doing - wasn't a problem till he said he would need to share my laptop to fix the errors and I kindly told him no. They are all Asian sounding, and you can hear all their colleagues all speaking from the same script. They are very good these people. They give themselves English sounding names, say they come from Manchester or somewhere in England or Scotland, and when you ask for a phone number they sometimes give one; I have had a number in Glasgow ie. 0141, a number in Thailand, and other numbers. None work. But then one day one of them cited my own personal BT customer number. I have reported this as potential fraud, on line on the police reporting system. I also spoke to BT's internet security team. They say there is nothing they can do. And that they are aware people have lost thousands of pounds through this scam, but it is 'international' and they can do nothing about it. I have not heard back from anyone about my reporting it on line except for an automatic acknowledgement. I would estimate I get a call every other day. Hmmmpph!
  14. On the way I saw loads of cyclists riding without lights, some on the phones, or listening to music. Hope they made it to the protest safely....
  15. Yawn. the smug fit and healthy attitude of the average Cyclist. "We ALL should and could be cyclists." NO, we COULDN'T!
  16. A reminder that TONIGHT 7.00pm Thursday 28th November 2013 is a meeting of Leaseholders Association of Southwark. If you are not a member JOIN there at the meeting. I can not remember how much it is a year or for joint membership but anyway come and learn how things work at LAS and the council. VENUE Pasley Tenants and Residents Association Hall Stopford Road London SE17. The following should assist if the link works! View Larger Map
  17. Why don't you nick your candles from the church like anyone else! Then just donate ?57 to charity. Or Church. Sorted.
  18. Wow. This backs up what the police tell us every time we attend the Police Ward Panel! Love living here!
  19. I like The White Company, I have bought clothes (on sale!) from there before; there is a branch opposite the rear of Peter Jones, off Sloane Square, one in Marylebone High Street, and one in Westfield Stratford, and they are on line. They don't just sell clothes, and their bed linen I love. But yes, they are expensive but I have never experienced poor quality from them. I think East Dulwich would be just the place they'd want to have a store. End of adverts. I normally get paid for this kind of thing!
  20. Agree with posts of many of the above. Not funny anymore. John Cleese lost it for me when he advertised Sainsbury's in his Bond character, and Terry Jones's admission is basically like saying he wants to rip us all off. On the news it said all the tickets were sold in 43 seconds. A bit like The Book of Mormon, there are too many rip-off shows around. Best to catch shows when they're on early try out at Menier, BAC, etc. And LIKE the above post!
  21. adorinum "felt it entirely prudent". I love you.
  22. Never said I was perfect, but I do try and be informed, and thanks for the info re sheep farming methods but to do this mulsing thing on a live conscience sheep (I've seen the photos and a video) is rather cruel isn't it? And the videos say they are not just for Ugg by the way.
  23. That's what I thought. How is it ED related Louisa?
  24. Sheep torture for UGG boots. Petition to stop it. http://www.change.org/petitions/ugg-australia-stop-mutilating-torturing-and-killing-sheep-to-make-ugg-boots
  25. Loz, no, sheep are being killed for skin - sometimes they are having their skin taken off them before they are dead. There is research and evidence about this for UGG boots. Meanwhile, a petition. http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/harvey-nichols-stop-selling-real-fur?share_id=dClZMFciWU&utm_campaign=share_button_action_box&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition
