Good point, or wait until all the works have been done before buying. We bought our flat after the electrics were done. -
New Co-op storm as board awards bosses huge pay and bonus deals
PeckhamRose replied to DulwichFox's topic in The Lounge
And if those bosses really were passionate about making the Co-op better / "turning it around" it would be because they 'get' the philosophy of the Co-op and thus would work for less money. Bar stewards. Now, I have savings in a cheque account with them. To which organisation shall I place it instead? I have a Nationwide account but I do believe it's best not to put all one's eggs-money in the same bank-baskets. Advice for true ethical ideas welcome! -
Depends where it is. East Dulwich or... er.... Dulwich. :D

I was working as a waitress in a cocktail.... No, no, no, I was working as a waitress in a seafront hotel in Ramsgate and was being paid 20p AN HOUR (this in 1975 or so) and a bottle of Cresta was also 20p. That advert brought it all back, thanks for that Red Devil! After having my purse stolen by a customer I told the manager to stuff their 20p and walked out, and got a job working as a waitress in a cocktail b.... nooooo, in a seafront caf? in Margate. Much better pay! And yes, CHAMPAGNE!!!!!!!! The Cherry Cola. And Cream Soda.

Looking for feedback on Kings College Hospital
PeckhamRose replied to Peckhampam's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Went to same dept the other day, with different doctor and various attendants, and it was completely different. He was kind and explanatory and showed how well I have been doing and made me feel very positive! It is all down to people being allowed to be personable and kind and intelligent. -
They're not axing it, they're putting it online.

Good for you Pam. Were you at the meeting at the Ortus Centre the other evening? I found it a tad questionable. The sort of meeting you feel execs feel they have to have a meeting for the sake of saying they had a public meeting, unnecessary expensive biscuits etc., yet really they are the experts whonhave already made up minds as to the future path.... I still neve had a full reply to my complaint dealing with why l had a discharge letter saying l had had drugs that l did not have! -
southwark council service charge

They really deserve a slap. I did read somewhere that in smaller blocks neighbours could get together and if they found a cheaper company to do a job that the council were happy with they could hire them. Certainly this is the case with the annual gas servicing checks. The guy I found through here is cheaper than what the council's own company charges. Incidentally, we all HAVE to get our gas items checked annually which is right and something I highlighted years ago when we were told we were not entitled to have them done when the company was doing all the tenants' flats. I suggested this was a tad dangerous and irresponsible. So now we all have to get it done. And yet I have never been asked for evidence that I have had this check. So there may be loads out there that save their money. -

Dawson Heights - view of city wanted

Go to the top floors of flats on Rye Hill Estate. Views all around for free. Even the Wembley Arch, and round to canary Wharf with everything in between. -
"I've spent most of my life working for myself though and I seem to make a better boss than employee, judging by the loyalty I always get from the people who work for me." That's what they cleverly allow you to think... (Just kidding!) Like the above I am self employed but when I was employed 26 years ago now I found the worst managers were the women, like something out of "Working Girl", I am ashamed to admit. Maybe it is different now!

Major Works by Southwark Council...should I be worried?
PeckhamRose replied to sedm's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes there was and a link to said suggestion was posted in the other thread about this subject elsewhere on this forum. -
Our local councillors for Peckham Rye are all local residents.

Yes, I could but I won't. Yet! Signs all over the place reminding we are in England, telling us DO NOT CLIMB THIS SCULPTURE and DO NOT PHOTOGRAPH THIS PRECIOUS WORK OF ART are NOT to be seen at this amazing beautiful work of art! Yay! Well done artists and thanks to the Councillors who awarded the tiny amount of CGS award that allowed it to be done!

You have to know the details of the 18 month rule. See previous posts. -

After getting mine down from ?2,121 to ?323 (extra charge for major building works), I cited the 18 month rule as previously mentioned at the beginning of this now four-page thread, but never had any apology or explanation as to why 'someone' made a mistake. They've lost a lot of money because of us educating and informing ourselves. -
Yet to receive mine but thank you so much for telling us about this.

The Care Data Scheme http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/records/healthrecords/Pages/care-data.aspx Guardian item http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/feb/18/nhs-delays-sharing-medical-records-care-data It says that there will not be any information to identify you but if you give your NHS number and Post Code and gender, really, there is every chance you could be identified. Read the information, and inform yourselves. My surgery's secretary said that we have all received forms and information about this, but I certainly haven't, and other said the sheets of paper they got through their doors were enclosed with pizza leaflets, so were automatically chucked out by a lot of people probably. But you can opt out. Information here. http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2014/02/515469.html?c=on and you can get opt out forms from your surgery or any other surgery probably to sign and hand in to your own.

Be very very very aware of your surroundings and your rucksack. MrPR was held while a guy stole passport from his rucksack in the main square. At the police station there was a queue of people all reporting the same thing on an average day at an average time.

This is interesting. Our contact at Home Ownership and whose name appears on the invoice is the beautifully named Summer Field. However, when we challenged our ?2,121 overcharge she just went to the back room and asked someone and came back and admitted we'd been overcharged ?900 odd. It seems the name on the invoice is the face of the charge, but the backroom people are the accountants who make the figures up. She genuinely seemed to have no knowledge herself about how the figures are made up....
