  1. Brilliant. We have a dark corner by some garages near where I live and men are always pissing in that corner. Southwark Council genuinely seriously thought it would be useful to put a signpost up telling people not to, and I suggested they take the pier wall down and leave the wall just two bricks high so there was no hiding. BUT I shall leave some empty bottles there from now on...

    Great Gigs

Well, some of 'em were young.
  3. A PC tower from PC World for ?250 - 279 just does not sound Good enough. How technical a reply is that. A tough call is this one!
  4. They're on a date?!
  5. I shall PM you, to prevent others being bored of this thread. Thank you once again. x
  6. Thank you so much MrMarkie21! We are not 'gamers', and we are PC folk, never got into Macs. Not sure of the difference between Windows 7 or 8. He'd want it for work and play. But 'play' is - as I said - not heavy gaming stuff and neither do we download films. He stores a lot of stuff, specially photographic stuff on an external hard-drive but it would still be useful to have as large a memory as possible. He's a photographer by the way. Thanks again!
  7. MrPR needs a new Windows computer, and has decided he still wants a tower system as apparently you can get more for your money than even the largest laptop. I wouldn't know. I am still happy with the laptop I bought as a result of a wonderful recommendation on here from someone whose name I am ashamed I have forgotten! If anyone can assist with suggestions, I would be grateful. I thought towers had gone out with the Nokia... Edited to switch the word stacks for Tower!
  8. Charlie Chaplin entered a competition to be a Charlie Chaplin lookalike. He came third. (Source: The Peckham Society latest newsletter. There's some serious and good bits in it too though!)
  9. Love it. Never heard of that one ponderwoman. Thanks for sharing. Now, how to get a freeze drier!
  10. Nice little theatre too and the Rivoli Ballroom too!
  11. x
  12. Clearly not! Bet all the professional crew are getting paid?
  13. NHS have saved my life so many times that my body's going to the London Anatomy Office. They may reject it of course (cancer / amputations and various other problems are not suitable bodies for them), in which case unattended cremation, because either way the money will behind the bar at the Phoenix (clever, eh) for the memorial/celebration/laugh.
  14. Yup we loved the irony of Stairway to Heaven! But there are no rules (except in religious funerals). You could have the whole ceremony full of music if you wanted, or rather if the person who had died had insisted. You could have it at the house or an open space, then nip back (or not, your choice) to the crematorium. Americans tend not to attend the cremation. Another band would be Christian Death, that would be a fun band to hear from at a humanist funeral.
  15. Truly devastated for you. Will keep a look out also. Put a note on MAG (motorcycle action group) website also (if you're a member!)
  16. I am a Humanist Funeral Celebrant. I have yet to be asked for McGuinness Flint's When I'd Dead and Gone (which I love!) but lots of people have Eric Idle's classic. At my cousin's, a true rock mad guy, it was a Humanist Funeral, we went into Ace of Spades then all seven minutes of Stairway to heaven in the middle. People did not know whether to laugh or cry so we all did both all the way through. Went out to something by Grateful Dead. "Dying" by XTC still makes me weep.
  17. We have to take our chances turning right into Peckham Rye East still though.... Or we can hang on to the side of the 484 because those drivers take no prisoners!
  18. Definitely teabag in the mug first, but the water has to be boiling and it has to brew/mash for a good time. Then milk and two sugars. Preferably the same type of sugar as I use in coffee: Demerara. Pokertime forgets to add, leave tea till mostly cold then drink half of it.......(!!)
  19. In which case not a problem. It's if it is a proper cricket ball then I would suggest it would be very dangerous. If it isn't then it isn't. Game ON.
  20. Does bonniebird speak from experience?
  21. No. Well if you get whacked I'll laugh, but no, it's not a joke. I agree with Lee.
  22. (And I HATE the dot in the middle of the two words. Life changed for this Grammar Pedant when EastEnders began!)
  23. Note this is not the same as the Spinal Core records. Also, note, that last week the Forest Hill Surgery had a Patients Forum meeting where I believe this was discussed as someone from the Care Data came to talk about it. I highly recommend you all try and join the Patients Forums of your surgeries because even if you can not get to meetings (and ours has meetings at different times of days to try and get everyone in) you can have access to the minutes to learn what is going on. FWIW I opted out of everything!
  24. And when staying in Margate for the filming they stayed at the Walpole Bay Hotel, subject of a makeover in some makeover show with Alex Polizzi. Both she and the mad WBH owner were not the best of friends afterwards. I worked there as a kid. Beautiful place, though. Other better hotels in Margate are available, though not quite as Edwardian or close to the beach....
