  1. Yeah, see that? Profitable. As for cricket, too dangerous, health and safety yadayada, would need to be fenced / netted in to prevent stray cricket balls killing people dogs and so on. Now, about a second and maybe third table tennis table??? Mind you, those table tennis balls can do damage when I whack 'em.
  2. This was brought up at The Friends of Peckham Rye Park AGM the other day. Shame no-one could have come and talked through it with us, the Friends (and anyone can be a Friend of PRP obviously, it's not elitist). But unless I am wrong, it seemed as if it was a done deal. ie. consultation is being done because it has to be done but in actuality it will go ahead whether we hate it or not. Some People are going to be upset at the disposal of the last remaining prisoner of war hut. And as I said at the meeting, I couldn't care less about it. We have the history and photos of it and apparently it's pretty much falling down anyway.
  3. Wait, you received your SERVICE charge in January? That's rarely sent till April.
  4. Not received my Service charge yet either. To be fair, last year's were not that much higher than the year before's. What is bound to jump up is the garage rent, but that's another thread!
  5. Loved her. Watching the documentary again now. x
  6. I've heard the name Bree several times in America and my cousin's husband is indeed Randy.... short for Randall. My dentist's receptionist is called Patience, honest. And she has it in spades.
  7. OK, it's okay in East of East Dulwich so phew. Hope it gets back soon for you.
  8. Same ol same ol, but I did manage to elicit some happiness from some of them. And we have a new sculpture at the bottom of the park which elicited misery and delight - so nothing new really on this site. But we miss you.
  9. Can't help you there but welcome and welcome some more to this little forum! And this area!
  10. How is this ambulance chasing wavyline girl. Do you know the meaning?
  11. That's it! That's them! Well done you bird detective you. Geese indeed. They were necking in a Narphuk accent.
  12. Living three floors up with a wisteria in a very very large pot on the back balcony, I can still hear the ducks and Canada Geese in the park opposite, but the wisteria's own Hnnnnnnnnnnnnhhhhhhhhh is drowning them out at the moment. Meanwhile, having bought far too many packets of bee friendly seeds which are heaving themselves into leaves but with no space to plant anymore, if anyone would like a tray of 15 or so PM me. I won't put this on the FS section, I'll just let you find it and PM me. They're noisy, mind. They're drowning out The Kick Inside.
  13. No, but the emerging wisteria can, just wait till it's fully grown.
  14. How I loved Pamela Stephenson - when she was funny. I adored the album the song Running Up That Hill was on. But The Kick Inside is a favourite, and is still played occasionally - on the TurnTable!
  15. Thank you so much. The ducks were silent, it was the plants who were only making a noise in my mind. But the ducks were not small, they were the same size as all the other ducks. I recall a TV series called Tales of the Unexpected, where someone had developed the ability much to her horror of being able to hear plants and trees, especially when they were in danger or being cut down. I can't recall what happened in the end as I never stopped crying at the idea. I love how this thread has (to date/time) been seen by 235 views but you're the first to actually reply. Thank you kindly. Enjoy Springing!
  16. Nature lovers - duck lovers - what the blinking flip are those two lover-ducks in the Peckham Rye Park Pond? Unlike all the other ducks, they're brown, in different shades of brown, and they looked very loving, and there were only the two of them, being very sweet and pecking one another's beaks / bills in a sort of "if we had proper lips and not these daft bills we could get down to some proper kissing" sort of a way! And can you hear that "Hnnnnnnnnnnnhhhhhhh" sort of a noise as you wander through? No, NOT the dogs trying to squeeze out a smelly one, but the sound of all the buds on the trees and especially the flower buds on the branches around the English Garden hurrying to squeeze out their flowery selves to us all!
  17. How I loved those days when you queued up outside the theatre to get tickets when the ticket office opened at 9.00am. Those were the days. Cash. Sleeping bags. Certainty! ;)
  18. I like them too. And don't find them particularly uncomfortable. They're better when there's no annoying people on them of course.... Oh, and Boris made it safer for me to ride my motorcycle around London by allowing us to ride in the bus lanes. I'd still not vote for him though!
  19. But another issue - apart from finding time to look at labels and avoiding obvious sugar, there is the tea and coffee issue. I have lost weight through only eating when I am definitely hungry, and trying to eat smaller portions. All well and good. I still get through two sugars in each coffee and tea and I drink a lot of tea and coffee. I have tried cutting it out altogether but I love my tea and coffee. I tried using sweeteners including those apparently made from sugar ( ? ) and They Tasted Absolutely Horrid. So what can I do? I've lost weight anyway, but for the sake of my teeth it might be helpful!
  20. A luxury is being surrounded by positive people even those who are suffering for various reasons. So alice sadly makes this place not very luxurious, if that is your definition. Here's some of mine that happened this afternoon. Just ridden around London on my motorcycle and didn't get wet despite the storms. My motorcycle is very comfortable and I am confident and enjoy riding: Luxury! Came home and relaxed in a very hot and full bubble bath for about an hour: luxury! Dried myself in warmed fluffy Egyptian cotton thick towels: luxury! I've just eaten carrot sticks dipping them in taramasalata: luxury! I may have a bacon and brie sarnie later: Luxury! Get my drift? Yet to me, luxury is not having anything to worry about, health wealth and happiness. That rarely happens, so I take luxury in the little things. It's not Peckham related (I just happen to live here and love it). But it's a luxury to walk around a great park, and see the views of the whole of London from my home.
  21. I am bumping this just once, and hope you can all remember to do this, as it all really does help catch the phuykwitz who plague us all and have - with BT specially - conned people out of thousands. Not everyone is as sussed and smart and naturally cautious and untrusting as we are. Thanks. Oh, and an Indian accent rang me yesterday claiming to be from Windows and he cited a long complicated number at me which I wrote down, and took his Anglicised name he'd forgotten how to spell and the American "1-800" number he gave as being from Brighton! Emailed that report to Dave the BT guy and he said that the long Windows number is a generic number which all computers have but it just sounds like it could be just one that we as individuals have. As soon as I asked Indian accent man if he had my name, he hung up.
  22. I refused to admit who was riding the vehicle and then threatened them for harassing me. The Bailiffs letter came and I got advice from a consumer advice guide and wrote a formal letter - template available on the sort of thread as listed above - and they dropped it. And this was before the law changed so should be easier now.
  23. I have caused nothing. Your negativity and propensity for the same has caused you to thus see - and I'll have the other half luge of vodka please!
  24. You miserable buncha - ! It was a dead ugly stump of a tree and it's now a beautiful carved tree stump and go awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
