  1. This is interesting. Our contact at Home Ownership and whose name appears on the invoice is the beautifully named Summer Field. However, when we challenged our ?2,121 overcharge she just went to the back room and asked someone and came back and admitted we'd been overcharged ?900 odd. It seems the name on the invoice is the face of the charge, but the backroom people are the accountants who make the figures up. She genuinely seemed to have no knowledge herself about how the figures are made up....
  2. At 6.15pm on Tuesday 25th Feb at the Orteus Centre 82-96 Grove Lane SE5 8SN there is a meeting of the members. Why don't you all become Members and then ask for to come to the meeting? (Spaces are limited so they need you to register so they know how many to expect.)
  3. buddug you hero(ine)! I just can't believe Peter John gets down and dirty* with the actual people who live here and go in their houses! If he came in to my flat I'd have video'd the meeting too! Well done. If LAS2000 had a website (they don't have the money) I'd post a link to your post. But as I said (and Peter John - did he refer to this:) LAS and Home Ownership Unit are going to be sharing offices in due course so we have one place to go. * not suggesting your gaff is dirty, or indeed down...
  4. Congratulations to the winners. This area shall get better and better! Love how there will be money towards the Peckham Rye Park Fernery too, bonniebird is this in honour of Fern's first birthday? (!) Can't wait to see all the improvements and lots more trees.
  5. PeckhamPam thank you for contributing and thank you for being a Governor. If all of these people complainers or praisers could become Members of the Trust, it would cost you nothing, and anyway you can all go to the public meetings and the Members meetings. And raise your issues with the Chief Executive.
  6. I see this has attracted a lot of attention now and has had great reviews. Even though the beautifully dressed 1930s model in all the publicity does not actually appear in the show because, Traces said, "We let the objects act as the performers". Despite this ... it's worth going. It's next to Khans where Holdrons once was.
  7. Edited eleven times? What are you like! Also important is to attend every relevant meeting you can. And now you may have heard that Home Ownership Council and LAS are looking to possibly occupy a building together where we can go and discuss issues. This Is Good. Thanks for the contacts!
  8. I went today. Everything you see has been recreated so nothing is original or authentic. The artists have created everything from research. Hats dresses crockery wallpaper tea towels and so on along with prices they researched that it would have cost at the time. A lot of work has gone in to this and it is remarkable. The only authentic thing is a lovely taped interview with a lady who worked there or remembers it that you hear throughout. And there will be more of those to come as folk have responded to publicity in The Peckham Society News and are coming to it from various places around to return and share their own memories of working there or visiting it. Oh, and as we are in Britain they are telling everyone not to take photographs. They deem it disrespectful for some curious reason. I would have been proud to have had such beautiful detailed and hard work photographed by admirers! The whole exhibition is a lovely snapshot of an artistically recreated memory and is beautifully presented.
  9. Interesting because according to the 18 month rule you should be excluded from any fee. but check that out with the leaseholder's CAB.
  10. By the way folks, you do need a ticket but it is free. Am going today so shall report back. Computedshorty are you a member of the Peckham Society?
  11. Wasting petrol, and adding extra use on roads, in the process. very green!
  12. Next to Khan's apparently.
  13. 135a Rye Lane, apparently.
  14. Thanks Louisa. (They weren't clues, that address was clearly written, but I wondered if that was just saying where Holdron's was as distinct from where this whole big event will be!)
  15. I reopened one of your pictoral threads on the other page Louisa, apologies and yet - they're fabulous photos. There are clues to be worked out for the venue, so I do not know if this is to be in where Holdron's was (53 Rye Lane) or not. I am sure some of the many elderly folk who have been writing letters to the Peckham Society with their memories for the last 134 issues would have loved to have had the chance to go to this, and don't care for current social media to work out clues of its location! I have tickets to go tomorrow - its first day, but with no idea where this thing is I may just end up walking up and down Rye Lane!
  16. And charge them interest! Well done!
  17. Hi tomorrow for about a week there is an immersive experience of a festival of Rye Lane in the 1930s. Louisa I understand you know where it will be based. It sounds fabulous. Can you enlighten us where it is? Is it where Holdron's was? edited to add that I have just seen Louisa's thread about this on the other page. So in the meantime enjoy these photos!
  18. Loved it. And last night dreamt my whole flat was now full of strangers... all who seemed to be living here legally, and I knew I was dreaming but that there was nothing I could do about this. Scared to watch next week's episode now!
  19. I LOVE that clip. Is there a problem?
  20. Of COURSE Lindsay Buckingham or Mark Kernopfler, how could I not have thought of him, but for bassists surely has to be Mark king? Meanwhile I refer the honourable ladies and gentlemen to Exhibit A.
  21. Very good, ed_pete. Indeed Kristals is a shop on its own. What they don't sell, Labros does! Ohh you meant when is Nunhead getting its own forum?(!) Indeed.
  22. Randy California. That is someone's name. Ex Eagles and then of 'Spirit'. The Edge. And dare I say, Andy Partridge can play a toon. Joan Armatrading.
  23. And I'd rather be stuck behind one of these on the roads than the diesel old versions.
