Just saw War Horse. Overhyped? Nope, it was all true. Theatre, acting, design, as usual, added to by great puppetry, music, artwork, and animation! Bring tissues. Thanks Ladygooner for above recommendation, will try and catch that!

When you say 'tonight'... oh. -
So I'll dig a little hole and plant all my cherry stones in it. One of them might survive to replace it. Just kidding. Interesting thread and well done Renata and thanks for posting the replies so we know and understand why my favourite tree in the park is being demolished.

Well there's crime everywhere. It's everywhere. Everyone says there's crime everywhere. It's awful. Everyone says so. Everywhere it is. Look, there's some over there. I hate it here. Crime everywhere. Been here years. There was crime then but it was alright. But now there's crime everywhere. Everywhere there's crime. Everyone'll tell ya. And the police don't care. Scared they are. Never see 'em. Well, except when crime happens. Which is all the time. It's everywhere. Police don't care. Crime's everywhere. I never go out me 'ouse. There's crime everywhere. You see it in every street. Never go out. Too scared. Her next door, dropped her purse. Never saw it no more. Crime everywhere. I don't go out, haven't been out me house since 1985. Coz of all this crime. etc etc etc

Charity to rescue very sick fox cub?
PeckhamRose replied to tomskip's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I walked across the park this morning and saw the Community Warden - he had seen a dog attack the already damaged and sick fox in the Sexby Garden. He was waiting for the RSPCA to come collect. I doubt said fox is alive now. The RSPCA tend to put them down. It was pretty sick, said the CW (you often see this CW in the park on his bike. Nice guy, approachable, intelligent). The fox had only one eye and was in pretty bad shape. (There is no sign anymore on the gates of the Sexby garden anymore requesting folk to put their dogs on leads.) -
I think Fabricio pretty much nailed it. Well done. I'd also suggest reading some basic and not so basic feminist works including those specialising in psychology generally, to explain in more detail the wiring.

Just found this thread. Happy Birthday Shorty. Keep on thinking. Clearly you've used it and not lost it!

NINA CONTI - tonight (6th April 2013) saw the first preview of her new show at Soho Theatre in Dean Street. It was magnificant. New puppets include a very posh and nicely dressed pitbull, and her eight year old self. Show is on for a month. http://www.sohotheatre.com/whats-on/nina-conti-dolly-mixtures

I use a land line all the time. Sometimes I can't get the mobile signal in my flat and as part of my package landlines calls are free. So neerrrr. -

BrocolliJack (Fab nickname), Exhibition Road and the bit outside Sloane Square tube is shared space. I use both a lot as a road user and no problems and all cool. -
Oh, and go to the individual surgery forums and raise a question; the practice manager will ask.

She will probably come back. Set up a discreet webcam and send us a link!

I had to take medication which I was told would absorb into the body best in an acidic environment, so I had to take it with cola which is the most acidic thing one can drink. Dentist told me that cola unsettles the coating of the teeth so leave it an hour till brushing the teeth after drinking cola. Just thought I'd share....

Often happens when the traffic lights go out; drivers riders and pedestrians actually concentrate! -

I would love Infinity. We have a box outside telling folk we are connected to it but we are not. Everyone else nearby is. South East side of Peckham Rye Park. I have no idea how much more expensive it will be. -
I spent a New year's Eve at the old Marquee seeing them pre their 'big' success. Fish was in his make up and it was rather a fabulous night. He was a great story teller. I never did drugs but I probably drank rather a lot of XXXX lager, which was rather popular in them days and that may have helped my appreciation. Saw the mates I had spent that evening with, two days later and we agreed - They were too close to their idols Genesis.

If you do not have the expensive but effective ant powder from the likes of the little shop on the corner of Peckham Rye SE22 and Dunstans Road - you know, the lovely lady who has the dog in a basket on a shelf behind the counter - then try any talcum powder. It's fine enough to do serious damage to them. Cover all entrances with a line of it.

What a great article of my local shopping area. For a fortune, Bambuni sells warm coffee in little glasses which to my mind is rip-off pretentious tosh. Ask for hot coffee in a mug like it should be served and they will do that for you. Dish and Spoon may be what the reviewer says, but when I walked in they could not have been more snootier. Maybe because I didn't have kids in a pram with me.... Nice that the flower shop AG got a mention. Wendy has worked so hard to make that shop work, and it took a great deal of nerve for her to buy the business. Shame they missed out Kristals which is the whackiest pharmacy/chemist you're likely to see ever. We've just bought our new loo from MK Plumbing in Evelina Road too, and they even delivered it for free. All we need is a trinket shop and we'll be a good match for Lordship Lane!

Courtesy of Steve North on Facebook (and I agree with it): Whatever you think of Thatcher she divided this country in so many ways. Why the fuck should she get what is essentially a state funeral when so many people in this country hated her and what she stood for? Do we not all have a voice or a say? She decimated communities in the North of England. She sold the Falkland Islanders down the river by ignoring their concerns and denying them British citizenship and then used the ensuing fallout of conflict to win the 1983 election. She called Mandela and the ANC terroists. She encouraged the police to lay into miners, shipworkers, all kinds of protestors, by giving them huge overtime payments and backing them to the hilt even when they were completely in the wrong. She called the miners who'd dug coal and powered this country "the enemy within". She allowed mass unemployment to be an acceptable result of severe economic policy. She encouraged a get rich culture based on banking and lending to become our major industry whilst completely running down our once great manufacturing base. So when we buy a stupid single, or protest against her funeral, we aren't disrespecting an old woman. If it was a low key, marked event in the nature of Harold Wilson's or Heaths, fair enough. But if they're going to give her the status of a mass state worship shoved in our faces then too many of us resent that her legacy isn't being shown up for what it was. The most divisive period in British politics in recent times. You want respect, you earn it.
