Isn't it just London? (ok im from the North)each area has its good and bad, some more bad than others. Ive lived in London for nearly 20 years, North london, west and even east London and this is the first time that i can actually say that this is now my home and it feels like home. The Canning is in SE5 but i do live in ED. Camberwell Grove, Grove Lane, Grove Park, etc all look and feel like ED. Yes its Camberwell but the folk are very similar... Home sweet home

However, I will say that the Canning is less than a couple of 100 metres from the ED border and don?t you agree that any competition is healthy competition? When I talk about the canning I am proud to say that it is in Camberwell but I would be a fool to limit or label my pub in only one area when I can quite easily use two or three. Is the scientific process infallible? Of course is. Known science is only a yard stick. We can only measure what we already know. And I think it would be difficult and scary to say that we now kow it all. Don't get me wrong. I know the world is a marvellous place, full of beauty and wonder. I love it. It makes me want to cry it?s so beautiful. We have all the habitable wonders of an entire Universe at our feet but we don?t see it. It's all a bit short sighted isn't it. Why are we like this? We haven?t had time for our emotions and intellect to catch up with our brains and technology. We spend $10 BILLION per space shuttle flight. What's it all about? What for? Spy satellites? In some odd notion that we can escape if we f..k it up here? Escape? To where? It's never goign to happen. Not in our civilisation's lifespan. Unless we discover how to neatly access wormholes and steer ourselves to destination Far Reaches of The Universe with accuracy; harness post light speed transportation technologies; find how to make our bodies survive zero gravity; cosmic ray bombardment and non oxygen based atmospheres; even then we have to find that little needle in the haystack of billions and billions of delighfully pretty, shining boiling hot gas balls and their satellites that don't support life. We ought to learn and get it right here before fantasising about all that don't you think There you go? you started me off now. There is definitely more to life I just don?t think it is predestined or preordained. At least I hope not?. Because im in trouble if it is?

i hear what you say Brendan, but time moves on and so does science and our understanding of this fantastic planet. Why shouldnt we replace ideals that we cant prove, with what we do know and understand... even if that is very little?

ok! ok! im biased! I sort of own a pub in the area except I don?t own it. Feudal Landlords own it. Well they manage it as part of their national cartel. They lie bully and cheat to squeeze every drop of profit out of my pub so much so that I sell draught beer as a loss leader...but we can discuss that in full later on. Only 1 thing to say.. the pubs in ED are disappointing and overrated. Yes mine included. Over priced, under trained staff and somewhat lacking in decent competition. Green & Blue aside (I luv green & blue) Yes I know that the pubs do the best with what they have... but it just isn't good enough. I love a good night out but I just cant recommend ED pubs to my pals. They are average at best. I decided to change my place and turn it into a place that I would love to go for a nite out... a great nite out. (Don?t ask me yet which one i 'kinda' own because you have to guess) The pubs look tired and unfriendly. I almost feel like im a drug dealer when I have to squeeze past the doorman?s glaring eye. Why cant we have a pub that looks good? Im not finished.. in fact ive just started my rant... but my little cherub is calling....dont we love it
