  1. "The sooner we can move on and have new blood running the Government IMO the better." I agree but I fear that "new blood" may be Nigel Farage who seems to be ever gaining in popularity because the electorate are seeking new blood. It's happened in the US. I'm feeling nauseous as I type this but BJ is preferable.

I left brown bags out for the last two weeks and these were collected. Not initially on the intended day this week and neither was the food waste collected, but I reported a missed collection and they were collected a couple of days later.
  4. If BJ does become PM, how long before he antagonises the DUP and the Tories lose their majority? GE very soon.
  5. I tried out the smart shop at Sainsbury?s DKH this morning. For some reason I was unable to use the app I had downloaded on my phone so used one of the store handsets. Pretty straight forward though will take a bit of getting used to I guess. A third hand would have been useful to hold my shopping list. Also might have to change my normal route so I end up at the fruit and veg so I can put them at the top of the shopping bag to avoid them getting crushed.
  6. I don?t think Southwark are buying any electricity then selling it on, or giving it away, to anyone. I think as Penguin suggests they may be paying for the installation of charging points, or alternatively, not charging the installer for the use of lamp-posts. If Southwark was giving away electricity, free power for people to run their vehicles, there would be a legal challenge very soon. What Andy Simmons says in his tweet does imply this is what Southwark are planning but, yes, councillors do make mistakes and sometimes misunderstand the question.
  7. If you have nothing against anyone?s accent, why did you describe it as whiny?

  9. I remember visiting Kew several times as a child and there was a turnstyle which needed a lovely old threepenny bit to enter. How much does it cost to visit now?

  11. ?But we should all really try not to buy them at all.? I know, I know ... and I know I should keep a carrier bag in my bag just in case I decide to do some unplanned shopping but we are fallible.
  12. I agree the retailers can set the price at any level they choose but I was told it was the law that they had to charge 10p rather than the original 5p and I don?t believe this is correct.
  13. I?ve just been charged 10p for a carrier bag in Tescos. I asked whether they had any 5p bags but I was told it was the law now they were only able to sell the 10p bags. Is this in fact correct? Whilst this was proposed last year, I can?t see any confirmation that it is law yet. I have no objection to paying the 10p, my objection is that retailers are quoting a law that doesn?t exist.
  14. Agree totally about the shopfront, it?s so fake and ugly. Puts me off going through the door.

  16. Yeah, some middle class accents are really whiney too

  18. And there will still be operator checkouts and self scan checkouts, it won?t be obligatory to use the smart checkout
  19. Smart shop launching 13 June
  20. I think the Waitrose in Beckenham already does self scanning
  21. but a lot of people get off at the Elephant to change buses or to change onto the underground or overground trains so it empties out considerably.
