  1. Hi all, to confirm once again that the adventure playground is not closing. The opening hours will remain the same, after school and Saturdays during term-time and weekday daytime during holidays. The works for the new playroom/one'O'clock club will start soon. The logistics of how this can best be done with the least disruption have been determined. The access entrance for works that will be used is one that is currently closed off on Homestall Road. This has been done to enable the Adventure Playground to remain open throughout the process. The old playroom/club will remain open until the new one is complete and ready to use. The process of the entire facility moving under the management of Parks is underway. I have asked and am waiting for a response for the contact details for booking the adventure playground for parties. The Peckham Rye Councillors allocated 18.5k of CGS money to the adventure playground, so there will be some improvement to the equipment. Yes, it is likely to be a bit more chaotic while the project proceeds, but they will still have the playroom/club and adventure playground and we will end up with better facilities for our children. 5. Hi all, I have been in contact with officers about this. The information I've got is that:- There was a private party in the pub over Easter and a resident called the noise team. They came out and following a second complaint from the same resident they came out again. The music noise level was assessed to be at a level high enough to be a nuisance to local residents and hence why there was a noise abatement order. What the noise abatement order means, deal with the issues that happened that night and it shouldn't be repeated. I have asked that officers communicate with the Gowlett management. We have a really good bunch of officers working with Licensed premises to help them sort out any issues there may be. This appears to have been a one off event. They have 21 days to appeal if they think the Council was wrong in issuing the order. Local pubs such as this are very important to local communities; the best way to support them is to use them. 6. Hi Wooly, I would suggest you contact Schools Admissions via email. [email protected] As Louloubelle says, there is movement on waiting lists until Xmas of entry year. Southwark worked in partnership with Dulwich Hamlet Junior on the delivery of Belham School. The data on school allocations is the best ever (see the attached table). Numbers of school places and hence potential choice is at it's highest since records began in 2009. This year, Ivydale Primary, with the new buildings on the former Bredinghurst School site, has expanded to 4 forms of entry for September 2017. I am looking forward to looking around the new buildings when they are completed. I am happy to help anyone with problems with their primary school allocation. Please email me. Renata
  7. Charter School is an Academy and therefore responsible for its own admissions policy. If you have sold your permanent home and are renting near a school, that's not breaking the rules. Having a permanent home, then renting near the school and moving back to a permanent home a few months later is. Renata
  8. Hi Tara, most children start reception the September after they turn 4. You could theoretically keep him in Nursery one more term but he will probably be the eldest child in Nursery (see his peer group leave in September) and will be one of the older children in the school year anyway (there will be children in his class that will have turned 4 in August). If you are concerned about the wrap around care at the school you may be able to find a nursery that offers this (I know the nursery on Forest Hill Road offered this years ago, I don't know if they still do). You may find that after school hours are not long enough/flexible enough for you and find sharing a childminder with another parent works better. There are also afterschool clubs that are not based in schools that may pick up from your child's primary. Several primary schools offer holiday clubs, you don't need to attend the school where the holiday club is based. It's worth looking on the Southwark website for up-to-date information nearer the time. Renata
  9. Hi Mrs D, sorry that you were disappointed yesterday, to clarify: Term time Tuesday to Friday: 3.30pm to 7.30pm. Saturday: 11am - 5pm. Holiday opening hours Monday - Friday from 11.30am - 5.30pm. Renata
  10. According to the Southwark website, it should be 11.30-5.30 ( holidays opening times) Renata
  11. It's good you reported it, Anna. Renata
  12. Hi Devsdev, what a horrible and mindless thing for someone to have done. I'm not sure about this so I will check and get back to you. Renata
  13. Hi Tara, I have contacted South Eastern Head Office directly for clarification of the proposals. Once I have it confirmed what exactly the proposals are (they are a bit ambiguous). I will let you know. Renata
  14. Hi Lowlander that thread I think was about Southern services and this is about Southeastern services. I agree Jakido, question 17 is very important. http://www.bexleytimes.co.uk/news/south_eastern_train_services_in_bexleyheath_and_dartford_could_stop_running_to_most_london_terminals_1_4950948 https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/mar/14/first-class-could-be-axed-in-next-southeastern-rail-franchise It's the Dartford to Victoria service via Lewisham, Nunhead, Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill which appears to be under threat to run to Cannon Street instead. Renata
  15. Hi all, have gone through the document, I'm uncertain about the plans! Positively it mentions 4 an hour metro services (Dartford to Victoria is one) but I'm concerned about the idea of "consolidating" the services at Cannon Street. If this was to happen with the Victoria service, it would go to Cannon Street from Lewisham as I don't think there is a physical line from Denmark Hill to Canon Street. It took a lot of lobbying to get even spacing, the evening and Sunday Service on the Victoria route. The document is woolly. I'll have to make some enquiries. Renata
  16. Shiply? https://www.shiply.com/ Renata
  17. Hi Calsug, if you have recyclable items such as cardboard boxes, I would suggest flattening them and putting them out next to your recycling bin for removal. Renata
  18. I can see from that, my ward is the worst for flytipping! I think the flytipping you reported Calsug was removed very quickly as I was going to report it that day but it had already gone! Renata
  19. On reading this thread, I contacted Charter. They are an Academy, so operated their own admissions. Hopefully they will be asking for proof of address from offer holders this year Renata
  20. Hi Sam, the 660m would be distance only, ie excluding siblings, music, SEN, looked after etc. Renata
  21. Hi Eve, it depends where your child lives, so unless he lives ie sleeps at your parents' home and is registered there for child benefit purposes his home is in your rented accommodation. That your parents provide childminding for you doesn't count for school applications. Keane, following on from the thread on this forum with regards to Charter, I have contacted the school about this. Renata
  22. Hi Jellybeanse, I think from Montpellier you would be looking at John Donne School as your nearest. Other ones that may be possible are Hollydale, Kender and Edmund Waller (maybe). Renata
  23. The new Charter ED building is due to be up and ready for the September 2018 intake. Renata
  24. I don't believe I wasted people's time posting about this, Michael. Many of my ward residents use the train services from Peckham Rye (first 63/363 bus) and Nunhead Station. The current rail/tube interchange at Elephant and Castle is appalling. There are places where rail/tube interchanges work, but not here! I'm wondering if, as the Bakerloo Line extention will go under the Old Kent Road if there is a possibility that the station is moved closer to the National Rail and Northern Line. The other possible link is southbound to Lewisham from the Southwark Stations (if Elephant and Castle interchange improvements are not possible). Is there going to be a good interchange between Lewisham Rail and the tube? (this isn't mentioned at all in the consultation, I think this is really important) I think if the Lewisham interchange is good, an increased frequency on the Victoria to Dartford Service will be required eg to 4 an hour to cope with extra demand. Lewisham like Peckham Rye is in Zone 2 & 3 so there wouldn't be cost involved in going Southbound. Renata
  25. Hi EMC, from where you live, from previous years, I would expect you to be offered Deptford Green or Harris Girls' on offer day. If you'd had a son, St Thomas the Apostle or Harris Boys' would also be in the mix. Kingsdale as you know it's random allocation, ie low chance! This is the school allocation mix that children living in the area seem to have got this year too. The Lewisham Schools no long have bands with varying last distance offers between bands. Going on what happened last year, some children got waiting list places for Sydenham Girls' , new Charter (and Forest Hill Boys'). I can't find this years' last placed distances for these schools. Haberdashers' have put up their last place distance on their website, it's only 666m. Southwark residents from the part of Borough close to Nunhead station ie a very small area may have secured a space there. As Nunheadmum mentions, Deptford Green has been very popular among Nunhead parents over the last few years. If it's not one you have applied to you could ask Admissions to be added to it's waiting list. You can also find out your waiting list positions for your top 5 choices. As I mentioned above in this thread, you can't turn down your current offer unless you have an alternative. Renata
