  1. You think I read other people's posts before typing my own 2P worth of crap? Where do I send the ?10?
  2. SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- candj - shame on you! WHAT? Too cheesy? Well, the secret is out about me then.
  3. "I will survive" by Gloria Gaynor
  4. People have been venturing the extra 5 mins for a while, but he owners have sold up and retired. Shame yes, but people do move on. Do a search on this forum and you shall find another thread about it.
  5. Dear DM, OHMYGOD, it's quite alright!! I don't know anything about English history OR Irish history for that matter, I'm just guessing.
  6. Dear DM, Oliver Cromwell and Ireland shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence, let alone same EDF thread! And he's not in the last 100 years.... He may have been good for England but no where else! edited to correct grammar inhibited by the chinese new year champagne!
  7. SteveT, WHO? I've been wracking my brain along with my Irish husband and we can't come up with anyone.... When you say "had he chosen to stand as leader" does that mean he was never in public office? Ie, not de Valera (born in America anyway), Michael Collins... who? Tony Blair is the best answer we can give, but he's been in public office and he's too busy with the ME these days. Lloyd George? Unite how, in politics or football?
  8. Yeah yeah yeah, it's all well and good, but you need captions on the images so we can know who everyone is! :)) User names please, not real names.
  9. Bloody hell! A self defense class or two probably wouldn't hurt these days. Sorry Admin for language.
  10. You're better off trying to watch the Superbowl on cable, as I can't image any pubs showing on a late Sunday evening. I could be wrong.

    Summer

TLS, Don't get me wrong, if our weather was 28 degrees in January, I would love nothing more than sitting in my own garden sipping a pims cocktail and listening to the charming reverberations of my screaming children! However, I do look forward to the lovely British summer, when it arrives in May and promptly leaves in June before Wimbledon.
  12. MM, Sounds like you've answered your own question?!

Huguenot, I figured you'd be around there for Chinese New Year with the rest of Asia!!! I too shall look out for you, have a lovely time in Laos! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

    Summer

Chiang Mai next week - although Thailand's coldest month of the year, 28 degree weather is still summer to me!
  15. TLS - I don't think your friend's fiance is being unreasonable as it's her wedding day and if she doesn't want a certain guest then she has the right to make that decision. Yes, it sounds a bit insecure on her part but imagine how she would feel all day long if the ex was there. As cassius says, it is about moving on and closing past chapters... Despite my current husband being very open-minded, secure, etc, I'd rather see my ex-husband at the bottom of the Thames than at my wedding! Good luck to your friend!

It's my understanding that William Rose has been trying to buy her place ever since they opened and even offering to keep a flat above for her, but she won't budge..
  17. Is the library really closing? That is such a shame.
  18. cate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jimbob Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > lord give me strength. > > > What does this mean? I'm pretty sure it has to do with the "strange man at peckham rye park" thread. Would cut and paste, but am completely inept at these sorts of things.
  19. Set the Giant Feral Rabbit on them!
  20. Only just saw this thread. Fantastic!
  21. Nylonmeals, Try either Dulwich DIY or even Farmers for timers. Would recommend having perhaps two in the house so it's not just the sitting room having a light on and off... ie, an upstairs bedroom or bathroom visible from the street. Asking a friend to check up on the house when you are away is another thing to do when you go away on holiday. And getting to know your neighbours and keeping a watch on each other's properties is also a good bet. Sorry to heath for the break in, hope you get your things back (especially the video of your daughter). -C
  22. MM- Have you tried somewhere in Chinatown for the Cheongsam or Qipao ? I believe they have a few stores that sell cheesy ones which would be fun for a fancy dress party. They probably also sell Mandarin collar jackets as well. Good luck!
