  1. Sunderland in 1837 ? Is that 10 Singaporean dollars? I'd prefer RMB.
  2. Barry Road
  3. Let's hope the chocolate was wrapped before being stroked. Agree with Annasfield, give me a pack of crisps any day, or a sausage for that matter. Will only occasionally have chocolate and certainly not the whole bar.
  4. free-range
  5. That's a shame. I liked his stories, as well.
  6. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- This is really not intended to be flippant or to cause offence, but surely it was "their time", otherwise they wouldn't have been "taken"? Are you privy to some kind of insider information with the man upstairs? The poor cyclist was "taken" because of a terrible accident. Best, -C
  7. Don't rely on the council please as it would ruin the independent nature that makes this place so fabulous (and good, bad and ugly). If the forum needs dosh please ask for it as you have done so in the past. We're happy to contribute. Best, -C
  8. Louisa, Pizza has been around for over 3000 years, in various incarnations. If you go to Naples*, you WILL see pizza everywhere. Some people like to go out to eat pizza as most of us don't have wood burning ovens at home and there is a difference between one from the Iceland freezer section and one from say, Lombardi's Pizza in NY or Antica Pizzeria da Michelle in Naples. I too would love to have a sit down pizza place on LL, next to the McDonalds. Best, -C *a place in Italy
  9. Came to London because my husband was here (he being Irish and leaving Ireland when he was 18). Have lived in the Far East (on 2 occasions in my life, once with my current family, once when I was a child), all over the States and Europe. London is by far my favourite city, I love the people, the culture, the weather if you believe (so much more interesting than LA where I'm basically from), the diversity, the fact that you can nip to another country (Scotland included) immediately if need be, and the fact that my children were born here. It is their home and it is the place I call home. btw, I'm not just posting at psychotically early hours, I'm not in the UK now.
  10. No, not overreacting at all. This seems extremely unprofessional as she was neither doctor (even training medical student) nor nurse. I agree with Sue that the receptionist was there as a chaperone, but it just exemplifies how understaffed and ill-managed they are. Poor you for such an experience. Hope you are feeling better soon.
  11. Could also be winter vomiting bug, gastroenteritis is quite contagious if you were sitting close together. Hope you all feel better.
  12. Been deactivated? Sad face. (Edited to delete onomatopoeia)
  13. BBW, I too have been tempted but saw the effects and read too much and saw too many photos. I drew my own conclusions and feel nightmares like that should be left in the past, if possible. Is the diagram not 58, 18, E and 17? Agreed Red Devil, never try to change the hand/foot that children use. I think it confuses them.
  14. on that vein, I have never asked my father about fighting in Vietnam.
  15. I have never read the Guardian.
  16. Husband and I are both left handed, but our daughter is right handed. I too wanted her to be left handed if only to avoid knocking our chopsticks together at a round table. So far our youngest is using their left hand, but we shall see. And what's wrong with lefties TLS?
  17. Thanks SteveT and Elizlondon. Will be arming the cashmere storage!
  18. That indeed explains a lot. (winky smiley face)
  19. I guess it's that time of year to renew this thread. Where can one find pheromonal moth traps in ED?
  20. Smoked pot.
  21. Morton's in Chicago, definitely the best porterhouse, not that I would eat something so vulgar.
  22. Since you are on a roll about spelling and grammar, allow me to show you your own post: vallajo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- You're post lacks any and all grammar and punctuation which makes your education look like it lacks something! ;-)
  23. Hey you two, shush! River
