What is the situation with workmen. I have my yearly boiler service booked for 20th November. It is a safety issue. Can that still go ahead. ? I will have to contact Vaillant to see what they say. The Boiler is at the back of my kitchen next to double Patio doors to the outside. It should be OK. Essential work. My alarm system Was serviced back in July Foxy

Was on my way to Sainsburys this lunchtime when I met a couple of friends on Lordship Lane. They had driven to Sainsburys and drove straight back home again. They advised me that at Sainsburys they were queuing right around the carpark. Panic buying again. Co-op was fairly quiet but M&S seemed busier. The situation will only get worse. People are stupid. Pavement repairs on Ulverscroft road
DulwichFox replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Where is there any evidence of NEW Trees. I think that Markings of 'TREE' on the pavement are indicative of old trees that have been removed leaving roots / stumps. There is a 'TREE' marking on the pavement on Whateley road just 4 foot from a lower level sunken Basement area. There is NO possibility that a new tree could be placed there. Foxy -
I normally get 60 - 70 Children Trick Or Treating each year and cater for that amount. I will not be participating this year. I think numbers will be much much smaller this year. Sorry folks. I Do hope next year will be back to normal. DulwichFox

Old Kent Road Recycling centre is now accepting cardboard!
DulwichFox replied to Ginnie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It does seem to depend on the individual collector. I have seen waste collectors put separate large cardboard pieces in the truck with no problem Foxy -

What is the point of sitting on my own. I can do that at home and a lot cheaper. I have always gone to the pub in the past to socialise. Not just to get bladdered and stagger home. Fox

So 6 people from the same social group or family can meet and sit inside the pub. One person on their own cannot go to the Pub where they will come into contact with other people. They Can sit outside. How will pubs deal with this. ? Foxy

IMHO We will very soon go to Tier 1. Only Pubs serving 'Substantial' Meals will be allowed to open. ? Does that mean that anyone having a Drink, 'MUST' also have a meal. ? Just is no longer worth going out to the Pub. Even Tier 2 seems to prohibit people having friends around for a drink or a meal. It is now worse than back in March. I believe 'Eat out to Help out' was at least partially responsible for the increase in Covid-19 cases. Local Restaurants were rammed. Pubs too have been very busy. DulwichFox

Charity shop taking electrical items?
DulwichFox replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Charity shops will no longer take used electrical items They have to be PAT Tested for them to sell them. That's the law.. Foxy. -
The Square hole suggests some sort of drive shaft. Probably wooden. Did the shaft drive the stone or did the stone drive the shaft via pulleys. ?? The stone is very small ? Food for thought. Foxy

Not Sure chippy or local Indian restaurant is practical. Having to lug 4 x 5 ltr containers down to lordship lane. more than one trip need. If you have Garden Waste then they do put food waste in with the garden waste. If there is no Garden waste the caddie waste goes into a bin pushed along the road and then tipped in one go into the cart. If you just put food waste into the Big Brown bin then every brown bin has to be tipped or the collector has to lean into the big bin to reach the food waste. So a separate caddy seems better for our bin men / women. Foxy.
