I wear a Mask when I go to the Supermarket and to the shops. I cannot wear one at the Pub, so I have not been back. I have also Not eaten out. Takeaways and deliveries only. Foxy

Yes I know that Masks are supposed to be compulsory on Public Transport. (that is clearly not happening) I was saying that they now need to be worn in shops and also in Supermarkets. Why should people sitting at their table be exempt ? That's where the risk is at its greatest. People laughing and talking out laud. I do not know the Answer. Perhaps there isn't one. Seems to of gone very quiet on the subject of a Vaccine.. ?? Wonder why that is ? Foxy

AS from the 24th July, Masks are to be made Compulsory on Public Transport and in Shops. What about Pubs and Restaurants. I do not want to name any establishment in particular but one Pub has become Very busy with people in close proximity drinking together Inside and outside. It would be very difficult for people to be out Eating and Drinking if wearing a mask. I suppose People do have a choice to risk a visit to the pub but if someone has become infected it could easily spread in that sort of environment. Foxy

I remember the Odeon in Grove Vale. When I was 11 (1963) my Aunty took me to see a film. The Incredible Journey. I lived in Peckham back then. Used to go to Saturday morning pictures Peckham Odeon when I was younger. It was 6d or perhaps even cheaper. Cannot remember. Lots of kids used to 'Bunk in' There was a serial each week.. Don Winslow.. ?? Foxy.

If the Fast food outlets near schools cannot be closed.. .. then the schools will need to be closed.. Problem solved.. :)

Why are UK pubs reopening on......a Saturday??
DulwichFox replied to DovertheRoad's topic in The Lounge
As I understand it... The E.D.T. is now fully booked for Tomorrow.. Sat 4th July. .. but will be allowing some individuals entry at the discretion of staff / management. I have a late appointment at Kings for a MRI scan of my Pancreas tomorrow (5th Scan) Was due to be discharged Last Friday but that is not to be. Complications. Think I will give the EDT a miss. Really not up to it. Will probably have a wander to see what's going on. Memsaab are opening and have offered me a safe isolated seat / table after 10 o'clock. I think I may opt for a delivery instead. Millenium have been really good throughout lock-down. Nice food.. large portions.. friendly service. Have plenty of beer and wine at home. Can no longer see the TV. If I wear my current prescription glasses and an older set at the same time I can just make out the screen. Cannot see anything when out shopping. Boots at Surrey Quays have agreed to an emergency appointment to help me out. Just have to get there. Feeling very down at the moment. BUT .. There are a lot of people worse off than me. Foxy. -

I remember the Foresters Arms. I liked the pub. At one time it was run by an elderly chap whose name I cannot remember. It was much narrower in those days. To the left was another shop. Cannot remember what it was. ? There were steps going up to a raised area. The Local Labour Party used to meet there. It got refurbished to some extent and got a bit rough.. But I still liked it. It was cheap. There were some Characters there.. One was an Elderly chap. He was known as 'Mr. Biscuit' He used to bring biscuits in to the pub and share them around. Lovely old fellow. The likes of which will never be seen in these parts again. It became the Bishop and the rest is History. Foxy

Brilliant Post Sue. I new most of those Pubs growing up in Peckham. Too young to drink when they were still there. My Grandparents would of known them.. and drank in them.. Foxy

This is how Food and Garden waste are processed into compost. This video is from Islington. I suspect Southwark has a similar processing plant. Foxy

Southwark required the separation to > 'justify' charging for garden waste collection. The Food waste and Garden waste go in the same Dust Cart so if someone has Garden Waste and Food Waste then it makes sense to put the Food Waste in the brown bin and tip it in the Cart. Foxy

Perhaps Weatherspoon Pubs will continue as usual to cater for the local sole drinker.

The Pub is a Very British thing.. well it was... Pubs are closing down at a rate of one every 12 hours, new figures show. The Campaign for Real Ale say that 378 pubs shut down permanently between July and December last year in England, Scotland and Wales, representing more than 14 closures a week. 24 Feb 2019 Covid 19 really is the final nail in the coffin. Most people I have spoken to say they would not be happy to go to the Pub if they open on the 4th July. It is not going to be the same 'Social' night out we were once used to. People have got used to Supermarket prices of Beer, Wine and Spirits. Based on 3 pints per day at ?4.40 per pint. after 104 days of lock down I have potentially saved ?1372.80 That does not account for the occasional Shot at ?4.00 + a time. I think it is very likely Pub Prices Could rise significantly. Food sales are likely to decline. Eating out in our favourite local Restaurants will be a Very different experience. Having to book in advance and not be able to make a snap decision when a few mates happen to fancy a Ruby.. It's grim.. Foxy :(

Well the carpets have been down for 24 years. The Staircase and small bedroom carpets went a few years back.. I was due to do the through lounge this summer but that is not possible at the moment. Four book cases and furniture Table and chairs clutter up the space and would be difficult to take up carpet and lay laminate. I think there are no floorboards. The floor I believe is sheeted with big boards. I have nowhere to move everything to, to do the work. Foxy
-
I did not say there weren't any. I said I didn't hear them.. Some one else Sarcastically suggested that as I did not hear them 'It didn?t really happen then.' Fox.

A small section of Moth Damage to my through lounge Carpet. Carpet is expensive Axminster Foxy

I never heard anything and a mouse scurrying across my carpet would wake me up. I would not be asleep at 21.40.

Did not live in East Dulwich in the 60's but went to school in North Dulwich..(William Penn) There was a Woolworths. I think it was where Foxtons is today.. DulwichFox
