The device has Crocodile clips to clip on old style customer street connectors for testing their line. The red button is to loop the line. The same as lifting the telephone hand set before dialling out. Leaving the button open was for line monitoring purposes. To check if there was a call in progress (CIP) before disconnecting line for any maintenance needed. The Plugs on the first picture are for testing the line and other Switch equipment at the exchange. Obsolete on todays equipment There is absolutely no other practical use for this device.. :) It's very large. Foxy

The Broadband speed quoted by your ISP is a Maximum your line will work at. That is between you and your ISP. The Network is shared and you are unlikely to achieve those levels constantly.. Your car might be able to clock 160MPH but that does not mean you will be able to drive through the centre of London at that speed. Also when Surfing you will be limited to the speed and availability of the Servers of the sites you visit. And again you will be using/sharing National / International Networks. You have no control over the speed at which these Networks operate. Basically it makes very little difference which ISP you choose. They only control the bit between you and your local connetion point DulwichFox

Hope the lady involved is not too seriously hurt. There was a Bicycle propped against the shop wall with a slightly buckled wheel. I saw the lorry where it had stopped and it did not appear to of 'cut the corner'.. DulwichFox

I've always used Opera but there are many problems with later versions. Opera 25 has no Toolbars. I.E is the most stable but probably the one Browser most open to hackers.. Don't like Firefox. Too many unwanted Add-ons. Safari seems fast but only use with IOS on ipod. Google Chrome ? Does not function on my Machine. (Windows 7) Slow.. Untested:- Torch Browser / Web Freer / Comodo IceDragon / Tor Browser Bundle / Slimjet DulwichFox -
Remember back in the nineties when beer brewed by small, independent brewers was called microbrew? In the US 'Micro Brewery become a legal term governed by its size and output. There are arguments as to whether the term Craft Beer is also a legal term ?? My view is that the term may be being used 'loosely' in certain circles to justify paying the prices that are being asked and that in many cases it's a load of 'hype'. Many people seem to be sold by fancy labels just as any other commodity. Who Knows ? Who really cares ? Just one of many opinions on What is Craft beer. http://beer.about.com/od/beertastinganddrinking/f/What-Is-Craft-Beer.htm DulwichFox

It may not be Vaseline, it may be glue... Glue can be used to stick the tumblers of Yale Lock to necessitate the calling out of a Locksmith.. DulwichFox

You can still get a pint of Lighthouse in the EDT for ?2.90.. Not a craft beer but drinkable and must be the cheapest pint in the area. DulwichFox

Googleing Most expensive pint in Britain At ?5.80, London pub sells probably the most expensive pint in Britain The Coach & Horses proclaims itself as Soho's "most famous pub" ? but it now has a less appealing claim to celebrity. The historic watering hole for some of London's most raffish residents sells what is claimed to be the most expensive pint in Britain. Even legendary former clients such as columnist Jeffrey Bernard may have baulked at the eye-watering ?5.80 for a pint of Leffe, the draught Belgium beer, sold at Tesco for about ?2. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/at-580-london-pub-sells-probably-the-most-expensive-pint-in-britain-6471997.html Obviously Google has never heard of or reached East Dulwich.. Estate Agents provide employment for Local People:- A record number of people work in estate agents offices and the sector is growing so fast that it amounted to the fastest growing part of the national workforce in the three months ending in June, according to official figures published on Wednesday. The Office for National Statistics said that 562,000 people are employed in real estate in the UK, the largest number since records began in 1978, with 77,000 joining the industry over the last year ? data that added to fears that the country is heading for a house price bubble. http://www.theguardian.com/society/2013/sep/11/record-number-estate-agents-housing So don't knock it... I'm not that concerned about Foxtons on Rye Lane or anywhere else for that matter. I do think the space they occupy on Lordship Lane may well of been put to better use. I.E. 100 Seater Pizza Palace.. :) Foxy -

When I was a kid we used to collect newspaper and take it to the waste paper scrap yard and get a couple of shillings or so and we went to the shop and bought Bangers.. and a couple of Canons (BIG Bangers) and if we had enough money. Some times a 2 Shot Ariel Bomb Shell. That's what kids did. And we built camps and had camp fires. Cos everywhere was still bombed out. 1950's. So I can't complain about a few fireworks... DulwichFox
