  6. So the Chancellor is taking 2p off the price of a pint. When does that ever make any difference. When they add 2p on a pint it goes up 10p in the pub. DulwichFox
  7. I really thought I had got it with Rebecca Mitchell Hotel Babylon Tamzin Outhwaite was in Eastenders, She played Rebecca Mitchell in Hotel Babylon ( I thought that was the abroad connection) and the Mitchell connection too. She was also a Medic.. You play a hard game Aquarius :) Foxy
  8. Boris Johnson is just trying to make a name for himself... The Boris Bike. A bike hire system that does not facilitate cycle helmets or require users to wear them. ? The Boris Bus. 10. I don't see the point in buying Tinned Tomatoes to make homemade soup? Tinned tomatoes are processed and have added sugar and salt and possibly Basil. Buy fresh tomatoes for homemade soup.. If you are buying tinned tomatoes you might as well buy tinned tomato soup. DulwichFox

  12. I've never been to a Nandos either but I've been To Bluewater and seen the people sitting there And the food in front of them. Cannot say it inspired me or made me feel hungry. Always opt for Harry Ramsden when I'm down that way. Small portions but I'm not a big eater and it does me. Foxy
  13. Spice Republic is brilliant And generally fast delivery And price wise good value DulwichFox
  14. Otta I went to the Tandoori Nights the first week It opened. Recommended by Raul from SMBS. The food was Pakistani with lots Of seeds and spices. It was very Different and very good. Not sure when That was. It went down hill some time later Foxy
  15. Michael P.. I report my findings according to each experience.. I have had more good experiences in both Jaflong and Dulwich Tandoori than poor . I generally only pass judgement in the Curry Club Thread I had 2 poor meals recently At Dul. Tan. and have had 2 -3 good ones since... The food at Jaflong took a dip but since Jan when they stopped selling alcohol the food has been excellent. Food at The Curry Cabin is also very good and is my first choice for Take Away. Surma and Mirash are good choices whilst I reserve judgement on the service in Veer Zara. But then Veer Zara is the biggest Restaurant although Dul. Tan. is busier and sometimes it is necessary to book. You cannot compare Food and Service between an individual visit and a mass C.C. visit when there are 12 of us. Foxy

Tandoori Nights is my least favourite Curry House and the only one I never go to.. Went there once with the Curry Club last year. Very expensive and poor food and service. C.C. is supposed to be going there next month. have not decided if I will be going along.. On the one occasion many years back I went there the Chicken was cut in perfect 3/4" cubes like the frozen stuff from Iceland. The sauce resembled Tomato soup with curry powder in. The Naan bread was actually a Pitta bread like you get in a kebab shop.. It seems to be popular but I really do not know why.. DulwichFox

  18. Got deported from Holland.. Insufficient Funds... Missed The Floyd in Vondelpark 1971 Funny I had enough money to get back, get a train to the Reading Festival, pay for the festival, eat and drink and get back home. And to top it all, me and my mate got searched between the station and the festival. And a Police man was shot and killed after he stopped a car in Reading Town Centre. Unrelated to the festival.. 21. It is a Huge building with a lot of land (car park) which is far too expensive to run as a pub / Restaurant. Just not viable. As housing , the return would be manifold. If you were an investor where would you put your money to get a guaranteed return DulwichFox
  22. One has to consider the History of The Grove Tavern... I can only go back to the 50's.. when I was a kid.. Living in Peckham the Grove was a bit of a trek for my parents with a small child (No Buggy and no car) and my parents thought the place was a bit Snobby so we used to go to the White Horse with had a tiny garden and no car park. The Grove had a Huge car park and back in those days drinking and driving was not a real issue. There were no Breathalyzers and even when they were first introduced the Drink/Drive limit would allow some people to consume 3 - 4 pints.. without being over the limit. The Grove was mainly a Pub. I don't know if there was a restaurant back then.. But then (80's) The back part became a Harvester Drink drive laws became stricter and fewer people drove there. They tried Quiz nights and the place was fairly full one night a week but many people sat there and made one drink last all night and left after the quiz finished. Same happened at the Plough, Clockhouse, EDT when they tried Quizzes. People who were not taking part had to keep quiet so stayed away and went somewhere else. More of the front bar became pert of the restaurant.. but not very successful. The place must of been loosing money and then there was a fire. DulwichFox
