An Ashtray made of Glass is still an Ashtray. It is NOT a Glass. A Wooden Table is a Table because it has Legs. Whereas a Wooden Tray does not have Legs. If we take a Table and keep shortening the Legs... At what point does it become a Tray. Fox (not an actual Fox)

Kids get bored in pubs so they get into mischief. Their parents seem to ignore them, so this Big Family Meal thing is nonsense. Bit like people who take their dog to the Supermarket and leave them tied up outside. Fox.

What is going on at Copleston Road/Grove Vale junction?
DulwichFox replied to burty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
East Dulwich along with many other areas have been sujected to endless road closures, no entries, no right turns..etc. Whilst this has supposedly been done to calm traffic and make our streets safer, it has done the reverse. The streets of East Dulwich have been turned into a Labyrynth and drivers turned into Minotaurs lost within trying to escape. Even local drivers are driving around lost as every day another road is blocked off. This increases traffic levels in mainly residential streets. It Is getting ridiculous. Fox. -

I do not think selling pizza by the slice constsitutes catering for kids... Pizza is one of the Least Healthy foods you can get..or give to a child. High in Saturated Fat & Salt. White Bread Flour. Full of High GI Carborhydrates thate creates peaks in blood sugar. Top that up with a cola. and people wonder why the kids are becoming overweight and are developing type 2 diabetes..

Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I think some people are looking at this in the wrong way. Its not necessarily whether children should be allowed in pubs as a general rule, but whether a particular pub has consciously tried to attract parents with children. I think most ED mums and dads are capable of judging whether a particular pub is the right environment to bring children into. Yes they are capable of such judgement, but seem to ignore their own judement. Most of these are gastro pubs, with childrens menus and are clearly set up to encourage families visiting. Most ??? The Bishop Probably has the most kids but no kids menu.. The Actress has no kids menu. Not sure if the EDT has a kids menu. Its the management who decide who they want as their prime customer base, Pubs have to make money. If that means tolerating screaming kids or drunk noisy yobs then that's what they will do. Is it OK to have Kids in the same environment as foul mouthed drunks its not for the grumpy old/youmg man in the corner to decide this. Yes why do grumpy old/youmg men (not women ??) ALWAYS sit in the corner ??? Clearly if your children are with you, you need to ensure they behave appropriatley which is the same whereever you go. Fox

Is It?? kiss goodbye to those pubs altogether A group of Mummies making a glass of Red last 2 Hours isn't going to make a lot of difference. And certainly may deter other drinkers. I certainly steer clear at lunchtime weekends. Fox.

It's a bit sad that so many mothers lack the imagination to take their babies and children to anywhere other than the pub.. (Sorry, I forgot about McDonald's) Why not organize yourselves in groups, meet in each others houses. Go to the park. Fresh air.. Even without smoking, pubs are not the right atmosphere for babies and small children. It is not a new thing. I know some kids (now grown up) who spent much of their childhood in pubs. Even when they were smokey holes. Cannot see much wrong with families having a meal in a dedicated dining area where the kids are supervised. But even this is not always the case. I would say that there is a need for the pubs to be child free after 21.00. It is up to pub management to ensure the saftey of all it's customers. That floors are not littered with bags and toys, and gangways not blocked by buggies & prams. Fox

Although the Council seem to deny that Micro Chips will be fitted to bins to weigh contents and charge each household. I can see this happening in the future. sharing bins? would then not be possible. It's all part of the 'Big Plan' Fox.

When it comes to being approached by a sales assistant, it really depends on the type of shop you are in. If for instance you are Browsing in a clothes shop, you probably want to be left alone unless you require assistance to ask if want you like is available in your size. Espescially in a shoe shop. If you are in an Electrical shop say looking at TVs it is likely you may require assistance, so a friendly 'Can I help you' would seem appropriate.. If in a shop, Counter Service, I would expect some element of conversation. Politeness. Apart from Pubs and restaurants and food outlets, I seldom shop in other shops. Well there isn't that many other shops to shop in... Fox

People's perception of East Dulwich have changed over the years. Many years back when I told people I lived in Dulwich they would reply....... "You don't actually live in Dulwich. You live in East Dulwich." Now When I say I live in East Dulwich, People reply.... "Do you actually live in East Dulwich proper.?" Fox.. Born and bred in Peckham. Moved to East Dulwich / South Peckham 1980. What next..? Clapham Known as 'Clarm' Battersea Known as 'Bat Ter Sea' East Dulwich.. ?? mmmhhm ' Es Dul'

Hi Alan... Do not think you have a Virus. although responding to these mails Could cause problems. Mail it would seem is very simple to hack... One common 'hack' ?? is that you recieve an e-mail that appears to come from yourself. Usually advertising cheap drugs or something similar. Although not dangerous in themsleves they are a nusciance. All e-mails contain 'Subject' , 'To' , 'From' The 'From' Field can contain anything. like.. Your email address. Adding The Sender to the Blocked Senders List will add your e-mail addressto Blocked Senders. Altough this does not stop further emails as you were not actually the real sender. and also does not seem to stop you sending mails to yourself.. You may need to add your e-mail to the Safe Users List Have a read here

I was thinking about a Box in a Box. The Blue Box fits inside Brown Box. Not perfectly but one could of been designed if any thought had gone into the project. Brown Bin Compost Garden Waste. Blue Box or whatever colour for Food, which could be collected separately if no garden waste. Would save a lot of space. Fox..

Little bit of research reveals ! \ / characters cannot be used in an email address. ! This character is used in UUCP style addresses, in the so called bang paths. Example: host2 ! host1 ! user. Because there are still lots of mail systems who interpret this chars specially it should never be used in the local part of an email address. (Old system used before there were any Domain names) / The forward slash is often used in email addresses used by X.400 gateways. Example: 'PN=Joe/OU=X400/@gateway.com'. Because the slash is used as a directory separator in UNIX and other operating systems, it is probably not a good idea to use it in local parts. If you ever want to save the mail in a mailbox named after the local part, you will have problems. \ The backslash is used for quoting special chars in RFC2821 and RFC2822. If it is used it must be quoted itself. Would be very confusing. Don't use it. I do not claim to fully understand all of the above. I just suspected that these characters could cause problems. Here is a list of Valid/Invalid characters Fox.
