Credit Card Fraud / Royal Mail Issues
DulwichFox replied to DK_87's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
My mail is constantly left sticking out of my letterbox. I Spoke to the postman who grunted something then went 2 doors a long a did the same. He crossed the road and again did the same. Almost every other house. Could not give a Sh*te. I have spoken to Royal Mail about this back in the past and got replies and the situation improved. Since moving away from Silvester Road the situation is worse. Different Postie every day. Clueless. Matter of poor training ?? DulwichFox -
Is this normal? (Man selling fish door to door)

Or do they grab your wallet and > shove all their boxes through your door, then > scarper? > > :)) Doesnt work always work like that.. There is no fish on show. You place an order and it turns up at a later date. Maybe the next day. ?? You then find every week more fish turns up and your account is Debited. Cancelling the order is VERY Dificult. I am not suggesting that the people calling in our area are involved in such a scheme but people need to be aware. If you want Fresh Fish then go to F C Soper on Nunhead Lane DulwichFox -
Is this normal? (Man selling fish door to door)
DulwichFox replied to Bagpipes's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This is quite a common thing. I've been offered Fish at the door a few times. Would not dream of buying fish this way. There have been cases where people end up buying a lot more fish than they could ever possibly store/ eat Boxes and Boxes. ..and no guarantee of how fresh the stuff is or where it has come from.. -
Lots of talk about usage of Cash and Cards. Personally, I seldom use cards to pay for local shopping trips and never in the pub for beer or meals out in the restaurant. I NEVER take cards out with me at night. I get Cash out of the machine or bank and take enough cash out with me to cover my needs for the evening. I must admit most people seem to use Contactless cards in pubs. They probably have very little idea of how much they are spending. It has been said that some people carry no cash at all. So what about tipping in a restaurant after a meal. ? I do occasionally use Apple Pay. I had a refund on my Barclaycard so it was in credit. They only way to get that credit back is to use the card. I would hate to see a cashless society.. Some places do not take Cards. But some places are popping up that are card only. DulwichFox

I understand that under its current leadership Labour is unelectable. But that's a different story. You cannot use the motorist for every shortfall in Council Funding. Southwark Council wasting Millions on unnecessary road schemes that do nothing to improve traffic flow. There should be no need to charge people to park their cars in our Parks. I would like to know who came up with that little Nugget.

John Lennon?s second wife, Yoko Ono, is a naturalized American citizen. Their son Sean was born in New York, and is therefore an American citizen. Ringo Starr?s second wife, Barbara Bach, is American. George Harrison met his second wife, Olivia, in Los Angeles, where she grew up. The Beatles had been paying tax at 95% Get your facts right.

Lordship Lane Independent Traders On TV Tonight @ 6.30pm
DulwichFox replied to Zak's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Guy from Roullier White said himself that 50% of his trade came from outside the area and most of his customers drive. That would suggest to me that shops like his are the cause of the problem and creating the need for CPZ. -

DulwichFox replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Argos born out of Green Shield Stamps via Tesco The growth of Green Shield Stamps gave its founder, Richard Tompkins, an idea: what if customers could use cash to buy products from its catalogue as well as stamps. So, in 1973, he started rebranding Green Shield Stamps as Argos, named after the Greek city where Tompkins had been inspired and because it would feature high up in alphabetical listings. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/jan/05/argos-story-green-shield-stamps-tesco-sainsburys DulwichFox -

Tony Church was punched in the face and knocked down backwards. His head hit the pavement and that resulted in serious brain injury. Thats how I heard it. DulwichFox -

The Clue is in the name 'Lombok Thai' It is a restaurant selling Thai Cuisine . If is was called 'East Dulwich Thai' would anyone say "that's a strange name for a Thai restaurant East Dulwich isn't in Thailand, its in England. #Pedants

I too miss Caf? Noodle. It is the nearest Chinese to me along with Mr Liu, I started using Mr Liu when Caf? Noodle started closing at 10-00 to 10.30pm Mr Liu has friendly staff but the food is mostly too sweet and gloopy with the Red sauce that accompanies many dishes. Mr Liu seems to be closing earlier now too and therefore too early to collect food on my way home. Hong Hong is by far the best Chinese t/a in the area but is in the opposite direction to my place and food gets cold by the time I get home.
