  1. The 2001 UK Census recorded 40,438 Dutch-born people residing in the UK. The number of foreign-born residents in England and Wales has risen by nearly three million since 2001 to 7.5 million people, That means about one in eight - 13% - of residents were born outside the UK. They do not all live in East Dulwich Foxy

Counter Facilities are available in Peckham Rye Lane BUT both Branches at 28 and 223-229 will also be closing on Fri. 7th December 2018 and a New Branch will be opening on Mon. 10th Dec. at 147-149 Rye Lane. This new branch will be the same format as the new Lordship Lane Branch. DulwichFox
  3. Thanks to all for your concern. People probably have heard me trying to supress a persistent cough when eating. My GP has diagnosed Late On-set Asthma. It gets embarrassing when I try and talk and start choking. Just need to get my Meds right. Vindaloo don't seem to help any more :) Foxy Hope to be at October Curry Club.
  4. Does anyone ever actually reads the Fox's posts.. Just the selective reading to try and catch the Fox out. DulwichFox
  5. Best to stay in ones seat. If the driver realised what was happening and applied the brakes anyone standing could be thrown from the train. DulwichFox
  6. What next.. Card operated beer dispensers in our pubs. No need to have to say Please or Thank you to bar staff. Some of us are Social Butterflies and like to say good morning / good evening to others. Talking is Good. T y v K q Q H I am not a Robot Foxy

I only ever use Cash for anything under ?30.00 I NEVER carry cards at night. If I get Rolled then I lose the cash but there is no hassle of sorting out cards at 10.30 -11.00 at night when I get home. I do not use online banking and have never set up such a facility. I much prefer the personal contact of the counter in the bank. For someone that worked in Telecoms and Technology for 40 years I suppose it's quite strange that I'm such a Luddite. :) Foxy

The new 'ATM' has a paying -in option. ?? I believe Someone yesterday was trying to feed it with coins .. but you cannot do that. There is another Machine which has been in other ?? branches for some time that allows you to manage your accounts.. transfer money.. print statements.. but that takes a lot of time and there is only one machine and if there is a queue your going to have to wait a l-o-n-g time. People drawing out money yesterday needed assistance to use the new machines. So many options and menus to go through. A degree in I.T. might help. No idea how you can pay bills ?? Probably could do with a Bank Transfer from one of the machines if you know the sort codes. If you have several bills, again you could be there a long time. Very poor service. Not Happy. DulwichFox
  10. Barclays Bank Lordship Lane reopened this morning. There is a notice on the door that says that Staff have NO access to any cash. Cash can only be accessed from instore cash machines which are different to the usual ATM's and seem to offer larger withdrawal amounts and you can chose what denominations you want. There are two counters. One for Business customers and one for Disabled customers. Wednesday is now early closing 13.30pm Counter Facilities are available in Peckham Rye Lane BUT both Branches at 28 and 223-229 will also be closing on Fri. 7th December 2018 and a New Branch will be opening on Mon. 10th Dec. at 147-149 Rye Lane. 11. I have a late afternoon Hospital Appointment on Thursday which may go on a bit as I have to have lots of tests.. I'm having problems breathing and eating/swallowing. I am a doubtful maybe. Foxy.
  12. I think Sue, that when houses were built 1900 ? the Bays (like outside toilets) were 'Add-Ons' I had this problem on my flat on Dunstan's Rd. The O/S loo just fell away from the main building and I demolished it after gaining permission from the free-holder. The house was unaffected. The Bays (Single Storey)probably do not have the same depth of foundation as the main building. Which may mean that although the bay will need to be rebuilt, the house hopefully will be unaffected. Foxy
  13. Yes.. Pour over is just Filter Coffee. BUT. Whereas Filter coffee sells for ?2.50, If you call it Pour Over you can charge ?4.00 :) Foxy.

    Bread

Freezing Sourdough Bread.. Tip. There are enzymes in sourdough bread that will let you freeze and refresh a loaf once only. To freeze your loaves, first place in a plastic bag and remove as much air as you can before sealing the bag with a knot. Then place this bag inside another bag, preferably one of the heavy re-sealable type freezer bags. Foxy.
  15. There is a lot at stake here. Do they own the building ? Probably not Will the Landlord be happy to re-rent to them. ? Possibly huge rent increase ? Will the Council rescind their license ? Will the insurance pay out ? Will they be able to get insurance ? Again possibly huge insurance Premium penalties. Will anyone be prosecuted. ? Will have to wait and see ?? DulwichFox.
  16. Paid a visit to India Gate last night. They do indeed have seating for 28 and could accommodate 12/14 in one block. would need to Pre-book. They Licensed with a good selection of Wines. & Beers. My Chicken Madras was good nicely spiced and quite HOT. Nice Rice and excellent Roti. The Food is Indian cooked by their Nepalese Chef. Pleasant quiet atmosphere (5 other diners in at 20.30pm) I waited just 10 minutes to be served my main course. Friendly attentive but not over bearing staff. Reasonably priced. My meal with Poppadum and Chutneys, Pilau Rice, Chicken Madras and Roti with Large Merlot was ?19.80 Well worth considering for future Curry Club venture. Foxy
  17. Safe ?? See attached photo to see why I still get scared around here. Fox ETA I was knocked unconscious, Robbed, and left for dead. And it's getting a lot worse
  18. East Dulwich Road and roads off of it have always been dodgy. Crystal Palace Rd. Adys Rd. Gowlett Rd. All dodgy after dark. and even during the day. Too many cut throughs and places to disappear. DulwichFox

  20. I get to see the Police Horses at Millwall Home games.. They are very popular with everyone. They are splendid creatures. Foxy ETA I remember them when they were at East Dulwich Police Station. Different horses of course. They would of been retired or passed on by now.
  21. I did attend. 12.30. not much going on. No Horses or Dogs. One Police van and a Motorcycle. Kids enjoying setting off the Blues and Twos.. e-or-e-or-e-or - Whoooooooo Whooooo DulwichFox
  22. Will try and pop along. Thank you for the heads up. DulwichFox
  23. I have just called the India Gate and they can accommodate up to 28 people. Foxy From Website does not appear to be Licensed ??? and cannot see where the 28 seats may be. have also looked in from outside. ??
  24. The main fire was in the extractor chimney. The Fire Brigade had to utilise a up and over ladder (don't know real name) to reach behind the building. Probably years of built up grease alight driven by huge extractor fans. Foxy
  25. Anyway.. The fire brigade were back this lunchtime. Evidently the fire brigade removed much of the interia of the kitchen.. last night. Panels and the like to prevent the fire from breaking out again. There were a lot of people on site this morning. There is a strong smell of smoke / fire even from the outside with the doors shut. With Insurance Loss Adjusters and fire inspections and refurbing and refitting to be done I would think it will be some time before Tandoori Nights can reopen. DulwichFox
