  1. Metal Shutters now fitted on windows and door. .. Occupiers and their possessions outside on the pavement. All peaceful and quiet. DulwichFox
  2. The water is again coming up through the Post Office Telephones footway box. ie BT. Perhaps a call to BT. might speed things up. Their cables are being damaged by water and BT will have more clout to get this sorted. Foxy
  3. Having spoken to someone from the Asian community I can confirm that someone has taken up residency in The Curry Cabin. They seemed to express sympathy with the new dwellers and antipathy for the greedy landlord who have forced a business Established in 1970 to close. The greedy landlord were asking an extortionate amount for rent. DulwichFox
  4. I have only seen builders and guys with Clip boards who appear to be surveyors or the like. Have not heard any noise or lights being on when walking past at night. Or any nocturnal activity. So we now have two Indian restaurants available on Lordship Lane presumable with fully equipped kitchens. Anyone want to open a Restaurant. ? DulwichFox

The problem was it was a House with 2 flats and only one water feed. A separate feed would have to be made into the house to my flat to be able to fit a meter. The shared water feed would of had to be altered. and th path to the house dug up and made good. I realise it would be simpler in my current situation but at ?1.05 a day, I'm happy. Foxy.
  6. When I lived on Dunstans rd 80s-90s it was in a house converted to 2 flats. I lived in the downstairs flat. I enquired about having a water meter fitted. I was quoted just under ?2,000. I estimated at the time it would take 10-15 years to re-coop that amount of money. I have just paid my Water Bill ?385.26 (for the whole year) ?1.05 per day. I do not think a water meter would be cheaper for me. DulwichFox
  7. Well, 2 planned appointments have passed. Evidently Thames Water turned up on the 22nd Feb but were unable to do the work due to car obstructing the site. I never saw them and I live a couple of doors away and have relocated my car, No warning cones were put out. On the 28th Feb we had the Snow.. Water has been coming up through an Old Post Office Telephones footway box outside 73/75 Ulverscroft. This has stopped although I have not seen any work being carried out. It is possible that the water has been turned off although I still have water at the moment. I have filled Kettles as precaution. It may go off at any time Dulwichox

Definitely worth calling > your gas supplier as it might be your meter > calibration isn't correct. Iv'e lived in my home for 22 years. My meter was meant to be replaced 10 or so years ago. I had an appoinment but it was cancelled and nothing has happened since. My meter still gets read by British Gas appointed meter readers but they have never commented about my meter being old. 14. When I take a long look at my life, as though from outside, it does not appear particularly happy. Yet I am even less justified in calling it unhappy, despite all its mistakes. After all, it is foolish to keep probing for happiness or unhappiness, for it seems to me it would be hard to exchange the unhappiest days of my life for all the happy ones. 17. I read Sue's Original Post and thought how condescending it sounded. Apart from those on the street, there may well be people here on EDF struggling and not able to turn up the heating. In fact there have been on many occasions people in need of simple thing like a Kettle or a Toaster. Sue. Enjoy your Tea and Toast. Quince Jam. ?? Very insensitive post. DulwichFox
  18. Sue.. So you do Charitable things and you are telling us all about it. When I did something similar, I was branded about being Narcissistic and it being all about me. IE when I mentioned about my own fund raising for The RNLI and RNIB. and Diabetes UK. I too am grateful for my own situation which is similar to yours. Got very little food in the house though so I will HAVE to venture out. DulwichFox.
  19. Why don't you put a poster up on Lordship Lane so all those who are on the streets and will not see this post will know that someone is thinking about them.
