  1. Social networks are increasingly taking a hard line on bullying and depending on their age, this could have a very serious outcome for the boys, see: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/6390477.stm It sounds like MSN are taking this seriously but are having trouble in locating the specific content? Is there anyone that is a bit more tech-savvy than you that could direct them to it or who could get the screenshots? Although they may exist, I don't know of any charities or organisations that could do this for you, what about a friend, neighbour or younger relative even? Good luck with it.
  2. I am definitely getting bitten by two different insects on P.Rye park - one causes a sharp pain and blood after the bite and the other nothing but an unbearable itching some time afterwards. The Avon stuff works well but you need to apply liberally and it can leave marks on light clothing so I'm told, although not noticed myself.

    PIZZA

Dominos!? They might be ok at delivering the pizza...but they taste a bit sh!te :( Actually they're not that great at delivering it either from memory.
  4. bil I am definitely going to have to try the cake in La Gastronomia as I love the Homemade cake! val162 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Well I think it is definitely the Electrical > Engineers Cafe on Peckham Rye. I had a cake there once, can't remember what it was, and I can't remember it being all that nice. I haven't been back since my first visit as I found the place a bit soulless. I felt like I was sitting in a furniture shop if that makes sense...? It hadn't opened long though and it was pretty empty - wonder if the atmosphere has improved?
  5. Haha, AC as much as I'd love to hate your posts, sometimes I just love them! That was a lol-er!
  6. My preference would be for brilliant white or warm white fairy lights. Multi coloured displays are a bit tacky for my taste, but they are probably quite popular with children, so I can see the appeal. Last year's yellow/white shooting stars were an ok compromise, but from memory one of the ones on Northcross road was a different kind of white which kinda peeved me every time I looked at it (I know, I know!) The Southbank has a mix of blue and white in the trees, which looks ok too. If it means taking money from other resources, keep the stars, if there's a ringfenced budget...lots of white lights!
  7. As a general rule I reckon not disturbing your neighbours past 10 on a week night and 1-2am for a weekend - at least that's when I start getting narky! However, I think it really depends on the relationship you have with your neighbours, what their lifestyles are like (if they work odd hours, are elderly, have young children etc), and how often the parties are thrown! The last time we had a house party it went on until about 4am Sunday morning and we were out in the garden and on the roof terrace until about 2am (I think), probably making a racket. But we only have four sets of neighbouring households - neighbour 1 works nights and couldn't come because he was working; neighbours 2 said sorry they can't come, they're out but no worries they understand if it's still going on when they get in; neighbours 3 didn't get an invite but have way more house parties than we do which always go on into the early hours so we figured they'd be ok with it; neighbour 4 was the last to leave the party! But we're lucky we have great neighbours! I think if you pre-warn people about it to gauge any issues prior to the party it shows consideration. When we notified our neighbours, I spoke to those I saw personally and popped our mobile numbers on the note we put through doors so they could contact us with any issues. But like I said, we're lucky - if you don't have a good relationship with your neighbours I can see it making things more difficult.

I was thinking that too - very RVT. Maybe he was a homophobe NAH? Or maybe, thinking you looked 'a bit like a gay' he thought you might be a heterophobe...
  9. "Is it cos I is white?" Or I suppose in this instance: "Is it cos I look like a white supremacist?" :S

    Ask Admin

Quick qu, I created a thread about a contractor urinating in his customer's garden and I can't find it... Has it been deleted? ETA: Ok, looks like it has been deleted. Why would that be?
  11. I don't get it either. I also think it's a bit of a weird conclusion to come to. Unless he shouted something at the OP. Like: "take that you neo nazi" or something along those lines.
  12. That was: "I would (like to know)" not "I would (p!ss between your bins)" btw! Hmmm "p!ss between your bins" sounds like a euphemism for something :S I don't work from home Frankito if you were directing that at me. Unless "working from home" is a euphemism, in which case I might.
  13. ...your contractor decided to take a p!ss between the bins in your front garden this evening. Just thought you might like to know, I would. Don't know exact house number, it was somewhere between 191 and 197 Barry Rd.

Exactly what I thought Rosie... did we miss something?? NowAndHere, maybe he mistook you for someone else, or he could just be a bit of a c*nt and would have thrown it at anyone? What made you decide it was because of your appearance? ETA: Sorry this happened to you, I would also be fuming if this happened to me and if I thought I had half the chance to hit his car in time, I would have thrown the bottle back.
  15. I forget what the range is called but Tesco do ones that have real looking and tasting food in them. I have tried two and they are definitely edible (which is all you can hope from a microwave meal). Think wagamama or similar in a plastic tub: http://m.tesco.com/mt/www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=265986567 http://m.tesco.com/mt/www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=265990135 Sorry about the mobi link.
  16. Homemade's carrot cake is lovely!! Can't compare it to any others locally though as I haven't tried anywhere else's.
  17. I think princes45 had the right idea...you need to get out more!
  18. Homemade on Barry Rd do nice flat whites :))
  19. Exactly. So that would require a loan AND a grant, so they would still be (if we take Loz's example) ?25 worse off every week once they graduated.
  20. Loz, if the grant went towards living costs, who would pay the fees that would be due at the beginning of each academic year?
  21. As I understand it Loz, the university always gets the current year's tuition fee either before or at enrolment. This may differ slightly from uni to uni but tuition fees are normally paid in full at the beginning of the academic year. Students can pay it themselves (or more likely via the bank of mummy and daddy), get a loan (repayments deducted from student's wages after they earn 21k+) or find another funding source (e.g. a grant from Southwark and make no repayments). If students get a loan from the Student Loans Company to pay their fees, they will always owe that money to SLC whether they ever earn over 21k or not, or whether they pass their degree or not. Interest will also be linked to the retail price index (similar to the current system) so if they never earn over 21k, they can expect to see their total debt rise year on year too.
  22. Sure, I'm a responsible cyclist except when I disregard local bye-laws.... Personally I don't mind dogs, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect owners to put them on a lead when asked/required to by a bye-law. If I had a fear of dogs I wouldn't appreciate anyone smiling or laughing at my reaction to an unleashed dog, especially if I was in a place where I would expect it to be on a lead. If it's meant to be on a lead anyway, what's the issue, isn't it just a bit lazy/selfish otherwise?
  23. That letter is from Nathaniel Tapley's blog and his response about addressing the letter to both parents was: Edited for clarity (quote attribution).
  24. Interesting.... A new mandatory power of possession for anti-social behaviour: Consultation
