Defensive?? Oh man that's the worst insult yet. Can't see the local councillor daring to tweet that one - can you imagine the backlash? I do get quite defensive about generalisations made about me that are based on a load of boll0cks stereotypes though. A bit sensitive like that I am. Might go and slit my wrists if it gets any worse (being suicidal and all).

Ffs this gets boring! Cyclists are 'dangerous'!? How do you measure danger? Pick something - risk of death to others serious injury, whatever just pick something. Then go look up the numbers. I bet cyclists aren't even as "dangerous" as ladders. Ban ladders!!

Little things you've found yourself wondering, after reading the EDF.

Little things you've found yourself wondering, after reading the EDF. Why did I not move here sooner! -
Ha what do you know, we DO need a Waitrose: http://news.scotsman.com/uk/Waitrose-unveils-foie-gras-without.3586340.jp "63% of people in Britain believed foie gras should be banned." Can't back that up, anyone?

Sure :D You're on your own.

Womanofdulwich did you look at the Brooks ladies B17? I do find it to be a really comfy saddle (I'm not associated with Brooks or anything :D ). I've not done a 45 mile ride on it, but it saw me through a 28m and 35m ride with ease without anything like saddle sores (nor padded shorts). Depending on which Selle saddle you were looking at, it's probably in roughly the same price range, or quite a bit cheaper. I have two of these: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/brooks/b17-std-s-ladies-saddle-ec007599 which are a bit less than say this: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/selle-italia-slk-gel-flow-saddle I can't see Brooks doing padded saddles as such as they're all leather moulded, but the flyer is touted as a good touring saddle and has springs if you wanted a bit more 'bounce'. It also comes in a 'ladies' specific model: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/brooks/flyer-s-ladies-saddle-ec007601 Like I said before, the Brooks needed breaking in - I had to do about 100 miles on it before it was really comfy, but I can't fault it now. I've also heard good things about the San Marco Rolls but no experience of that. I'm sure the Selle Italia SLK is good too, just throwing some (potentially) cheaper options out there.

junction underhill road/barry road
binary_star replied to Marlene's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry, my point was not about funding rather that they didn't want traffic calming measures on Barry Rd specifically because it interferes with their bus route. The junctions have had money thrown at them already. ETA: James' previous comment from yet another thread about this junction suggested to me that tfl's 'objections' might have some impact on any decisions made: -

Seems The problem fir the council is actual vs reported crashes. Local councillor has acknowledged this before on the forum: From James Barber's post here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,674005,674537#msg-674537 And also Which I take to mean what tfl wants tfl gets...? -
As far as saddles go, the best one I've had is a Brooke's ladies B17. But it needed a hell of a breaking in! Now it is though, it's perfectly...er formed.

And maybe our genocidal tendencies towards other hominids... "An article in New Scientist (Vol. 186, No. 2504) gives the following account of folklore on Flores surrounding the Ebu Gogo: The Nage people of central Flores tell how, in the 18th century, villagers disposed of the Ebu Gogo by tricking them into accepting gifts of palm fiber to make clothes. When the Ebu Gogo took the fiber into their cave, the villagers threw in a firebrand to set it alight. The story goes that all the occupants were killed, except perhaps for one pair, who fled into the deepest forest, and whose descendants may be living there still." Sorry, my point about puberty was that it probably helped about as much as omnivorism, i.e. not all that much. It may have helped but didn't give us any special advantage. Anyway, moving on... I don't think it was omnivorism, but I'm not sure it was just cooking either - didn't Neanderthal man cook? You don't see many of those about these days. I doubt it's possible to point one thing, it was probably a combination of many things - language, tools, cooking, fire. Other species have aquired these skills, but not to the same degree as humans. But although these skills might now be unique to humans, I don't *think* they were unique to homo sapiens. So Why did other early humans die out and us survive? Disease, competition from us?

So I don't really see how this helped. It probably helped as much as the incisors. Or omnivorism.

Having pubescent females at age 10 or 11 has probably led to "success" as a species as well but I don't think that's a strong enough argument to encourage hebephilia.

katie1997 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Mick Mac made that point about the differences > quite succinctly a few pages ago. > ....and yet people are still making the comparison between an animal suffering through slaughter vs. suffering it's entire life. The death of an animal is never going to be pleasant and as a meat eater you have to accept that even if you can't justify it. Condemning an animal to a life of the brutality and suffering required for foie gras production isn't on IMO. OVER feeding is one thing, but FORCE feeding...don't think that can be carried out humanely.

I dunno d_c, I always knew how it was produced, but watching it is a different experience altogether. Not sure I could physically stomach it now after watching the video.

Thanks Mick Mac for posting that video. I can't watch it all though - scrubbed to 2.15 and now I feel sick. I won't eat it. Talk about barbaric, no wonder their gullets get torn. Edited to correct video time and typo

Did anyone see my cat killed in Barry Road?
binary_star replied to Pugwash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry to hear about your cat. Is it possible that he made his way home after being injured? We had two cats that did this - both were in traffic accidents and both came back home before dying. No comfort to you, but this is quite common behaviour for cats. -
Happy Birthday Laddy Muck!!!!!!!
