  1. Personally I wouldn't touch it with a teak barge pole. Anyone selling from the back of a van, door to door, with a story containing words such as 'suddenly available / quick sale / huge discount' is probably not to be trusted.
  2. I'd be careful, it could secretly contain seahorse.
  3. Noise team out if action. And already said the chances of anything constructive coming from talking to those making the noise very small, plus it was raining heavily and I had a three year old to deal with. I admit that it's pointless posting on here about it, but at 4 am when you can't sleep and your really really pissed off, and sometimes you feel like screaming into the void as catharsis.
  4. If you are the ones with your windows open, playing loud music at 4 am and who've kept my 3 year old awake all night, thereby ruining her best friends birthday party that she's been looking forward to for weeks and which is later today... You are a pathetic, selfish twt. If you want to go clubbing, go clubbing. Don't keep half the street awake.
  5. yes, a bit early to start claiming victory in the War on Winter too, I would have thought.
  6. ....or just call the council, who'll pick it up for free.

Thanks. The website implies that they are running to the revised timetable regardless, but I could be wrong.
  8. Yes, 2 trains an hour.
  9. Southern Trains are planning on running a 'snow timetable' starting tomorrow. It's available on their website here (Timetable 32): http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/plan-my-journey/temporary-timetable-b
  10. The problem with this extension is that it drives the southern spur of the northern line into a dead end (restricting further development), adds only two new stops, both in areas already well served. The benefits are negligible compared to other potential infrastructure proposals which become less likely to ever happen as a result. It's a deal with a private developer who will the primary beneficiaries of this 'public' investment. Effectively an ongoing subsidy paid by existing communities, possibly to the detriment of the future regeneration of their neighbourhoods. Yes some future workers in Nine Elms will have an alternative to the tube at Vauxhall. Brilliant.
  11. Good overview of a number of popular diets here: http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/loseweight/Pages/top-10-most-popular-diets-review.aspx Personally I don't believe any of them work long term. Eat a healthy, varied diet and incorporate regular exercise into your daily routine. It may be boring and may not have quick results, but its also the only sustainable option over the long term.
  12. Someone has likely been seriously hurt, maybe worse. Please think about what you're posting.

If you are turning out from a side street onto a main road it is entirely your responsibility to check that the way is clear and not to pull out into another vehicles path, regardless of the type of vehicle.
  14. I'm not sure it's urgent enough to go to A&E.
  15. I have what i suspect to be a tibial stress fracture. I would like to get it checked out by a doctor, but I am registered with Dulwich Medical Centre (4 week wait). I'm thinking of just paying to see a private doctor, but not having done this before I have no idea how you go about finding one. Has anyone got any recommendations? Thanks.
  16. Soupdragon, The Mag, Green & Blue, Grace and Favour and Jacks all recently closed. Is the area beginning to go into decline?
  17. It will shortly need a good independent wine shop, with Green & Blue closing down after Christmas. Really gutted that they're leaving the Lane after all this time. :-(
  18. Iceland is a false economy. Individual items may carry a low ticket price, but that isn't the same as saying they are good value. When you actually analyse what you are getting for you money in terms of the nutritional value of many (not all) of their offerings, it's could actually be considered very expensive. Adding in the cost to health of eating heavilly processed foods off balances the equation further. M&S isn't a whole lot better to be fair, but if you want value, then one can buy relatively low cost cuts of meat and plenty of cheap vegatables from many of the nearby independents and street markets. Iceland / M&S are both chains specialising primarilly in heavilly processed, pre-prepared foods. The latter has a mildly better quality offering, so I would prefer it personally, but it's all much of a muchness. To hold Iceland up as some kind of working class hero is silly though.
  19. I heard that they're building a block of 900 luxury sleeping shelves for young professionals. Prices start at ?350,000.

The ever expanding CPZ, as parking problems just get pushed out to the next place.

  23. Oh, by the way, check out the post on Home Run London. If any ED marathoners fancy adding their vote for a new route, that would be great.
  24. I got a place too! Currently running around 20 miles a week with a 9 mile long run. I read somewhere that your long run should be between one quarter and one third of your weekly total, but certainly not as much as a half. Is this right? As I progress in my training, I really only intended to increase the distance of my long run (with the other runs remaining relatively short, but increasing in intensity). Any advice appreciated. This is my first marathon (I?ve only been running since May), so I don?t have any experience of training for something like this. Thanks
