  1. Yes I expect we wouldn't have voted for Brexit, and clung onto our ludicrous imperial measurements. So Guido is to blame.
  2. So would you ban everything that damages the environment? Please get a sense of perspective. This is minuscule say compared to the rain forest being felled for cattle ranching, growing soy to feed Western herds, gold mining etc. I don't eat meat and doubt if I've ever bought gold. I can sleep soundly. This was supposed to be a light hearted thread. Start a new one by all means and very happy to debate with you on protecting the environment.
  3. More importantly what are your tips. (synthetic materials are a signficant source of microplastics but as microfibres constitute only a tiny fraction, and I don't wash them in any case, not particularly relevant to my Viz tips thread)
  4. This thread feels more and more like a witch hunt. Perfectly apt for Halloween I suppose.
  5. Good post and nice to hear from you. I looked back and saw some excellent comments. Which I then realised were from me too. Well done me.
  6. Separate thread matter, biggest threat to me are (illegal) Deliveroo and similar riders on twist and go electric bikes at 25 mph on the inside. These bikes should not be on the road, the delivery companies do not insist on training, and if they do ride like this please overtake on the outside. Enforcement is up to the police, and government need to tackle this. Some local authorities take action but most have other things to focus on, and as per sentence above why should they sort out this mess. And of course many of us happily order takeaways, and this is now moving to small grocery deliveries. Dunno if any party will make this a manifesto commitments. E bikes, ie electrical assistance, are great, and for me something for the future
  7. Expect Sainsbury's is nearer but not sure whether this is better on price or variety. Use both as convenience stores.
  8. Reminds me of Carcassonne. They built a Disneyland palace in the 19th century. They wrapped it a bizarre colour scheme. To the purists it was wrong wrong wrong But most loved it. Glad to hear that some love the square's makeover too!
  9. Just been applying floor sealant with a microfibre cloth. Wow. Recent used cutting in brushes for the first time. Wow. An older wow was glossing with a roller for the first time. Do share your finds, or indulge me. Getting a bit argumentative elsewhere on the forum!
  10. Oh dear. Virtually every aspect of your living harms the planet. Where to start (don't be born at all and certainly don't have kids) and where to end. Sitting here snugly without my heating on, after tending to my permaculture allotment, with clothes a generation old, drinking my home made cider from apples I rescued, and never washing, not going beyond walking distance from my bender in the woods. Well maybe not.
  11. Barbur - have to book
  12. It's a charge for entering London with an older polluting car. The concept was brought in by a Tory mayor. I expect most of us either agree with it or have got used to it. 10000s die each year from pollution derived from road traffic. By all means ask questions but don't see why you need to give such views. Piston heads is a better place. Some free advice, don't register but just simply pay and save your friends a tenner
  13. A true patriot not a tofu Woke. Oh wait a sec, haven't heard from Cat recently 😟
  14. I made it simpler by copying in the right and the wrong people. On one occasion the wrong person then thanked me and the right people for sharing. Fortunately most found it funny, and me embarrassing. Is that enough or do you need more info before I am shot.
  15. I know a fair amount on this subject but would have to shoot you all if I say more!
  16. I expect many of us have sent an official email to the wrong person, and then had to cringingly have to ask for it to be deleted. My worst still make me shudder. But they have been from an official address not my personal one Discuss....
  17. Yes but it is all about Laura nowadays.....
  18. Goodness gracious, I post something constructive and I just get rants and then Rock's usual Southwark stuff. Please try to think a bit wider.
  19. Safe? I hope so. I haven't heard of any self combusting yet. Secure? That's another question. In principle great. How can you improve security? Had several bikes stolen, the crims are always one step ahead sadly. The resale market sadly is much to blame and happy to name and shame Gumtree as have personal experience.....
  20. Tool Station and the tile shop. What not to like. HSS used to be there and of course in the past the motorbike dealer Streamline. The little shops and takeaway survive, so most be making money. It also reminds me of what SE22 was like when I moved to the area, ie run down.
  21. Why do users leave the bikes in the wrong places? It would be good to understand behaviour better. Are users tree huggers, if so it would be surprising that they are not being more responsible. Kids? Well all generations are in part irresponsible. Young adults, who are generally quite selfish? Gross generalisations but it would be good to know behaviours and how best to change this, avoiding big sticks and recognising benefits for personal mobility and the environment.
  22. Fireworks are discussed every year here. As regards to air pollution it will be dwarfed by other sources and if we wanted to target something more significant it would be wood and coal burning, irrespective of any supposed 'green' credentials. Home displays are getting a bit crazy and best to have organised displays, but you can't enforce that Animal welfare is another issue. It is ludicrous to tell people how to spend their money. I loved the Tower Hamlet event which has been cancelled on economic grounds, disappointing but understandable
  23. Here here. I see people are also going to pubs, eating out, going to the theatre, paying to watch football, going on holiday, vanity extensions etc etc. Surely with the cost of living crisis, and Brexit, they should only be spending on essentials.
  24. Anyone have any constructive proposals? E bikes and scooters here to stay whether you like them or not.
