Firstly I would like to defend the 70s. I enjoyed the music, football and pubs more. But them I am a product of my time. Interesting that someone referred to sugar rationing. I bet that was down to the lack of a competitive market and relying on old school commonwealth. Secondly in my life time its the first time I've seen a government swing both ways. To nationalism in one respect, and to socialism in another. Perhaps we could define a new word drawing on both words, Na si. And then look for a symbol that would help reunite the coutry, there is a good Hindu one for peace and stability (and possibly strength) that comes to mind.

Once got a squirrel trapped in a feeder, the bugger. As they are vermin you are supposed to dispose of them, but couldn't bring myself to do it. Scared it with a cat frightener device and its heart was jumping of its body (that was to give it a lesson so it wouldn't come back). It's eyes were bulging out of its head. After it came back to life managed to tease open the feeder to let it out, avoiding it biting my hands. Wasn't at all grateful.

Not necessarily anti (although understand environmental concerns) this but more that increased access to new fossil fuel reserves does not put pressure, particularly on the West, to reduce use. And of course geopolitical impact, for example US being in a stronger position vs Russia's huge gas reserves. Anyway an open question, what does ED think?

The UKIP bust up was first on the six o'clock news. Already forgotten the two UKIP MEPs involved. Apologies for my bad taste comment but they have regular fisticuffs in the Italian parliament without serious injury. Are UKIP softees? Our local MP Jim Dowd is well known for a fight a few years ago following a few beers. And of course Two Jags landed a good right hand against a protestor. Perhaps the boxing ring is Labour's best chance of power. Here's how the cold war was sorted:

Waterlink way is all paved and reasonably well signed, there are spurs off it to explore and you can pop into both Wickes and Screwfix if you are that way inclined. Interesting change of scenary Lower Sydenham to Beckkeham! Shame some of the 1930s small industrial units are going. Gentle/flat as it follows the river. Fortunately it doesn't go as far as West Wickham.

We Were Not Consulted (Note, this is not that serious)

I watched Andrew Neal and others commenting on BBCnews24 whilst queuing in Barclays Bank yesterday - the comments were luke warm and when they tried to interview delegates someone who was more cautious was shouted down by another. This behaviour really worries me - let others have their say.

Bit confused here. The working got progressively shorter since the industrial revolution but it has now reversed. I didn't expect it to reduce by much but thought that there would be the odd hour say every ten years. I now have colleagues in before me and leaving after - and I do a full day and a bit. Most don't take their lunches. There surely is a quality of life issue here. No issues if people want to work into their 70s. I still hope the be active. Where I volunteer I am the youngest.
-
I almost did but things conspired against me. I had a part time job (sociable but not overly-intellectual) lined up and was already planning to do voluntary work. The additional ?36k that it now takes for my kids' tuition fees would have hurt and the early pension and other sources of money would have meant being more careful. I detest the competitive work place and the ageism I see. And long hours. As a child I thought by now we'd all be retiring at 50. Yet my younger colleagues will go on to 67 and beyond.

Mine has got an awful lot better as they have recruited new staff.

Some stuff here about the economics of HS2 http://www.railtechnologymagazine.com/Rail-News/despite-enthusiasm-hs2-has-the-weakest-economic-case-of-all-projects?utm_source=Rail%20Technology%20Magazine&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=7539415_RTM%20Weekly%20September%2016%20wk%204&dm_i=IJS,4HLG7,KZQ0U6,GKZ54,1

Why is it so difficult to wash off. What evolutonary benefit does it gives dogs making their crap so sticky (and smelly) Where do cats crap and why don't we complain about them. Most dog owners pick it up.

Keep hearing "Take it to the limit" by The Eagles

More importantly who does the best version of Take the Skinheads Bowling? The original (Camper Van Beethoven), The Manics, Teenage Fanclub or others. A great somg to have on your mind, and sadly I have already compiled my three songs for my funeral. -
Tim whatshisface is an arse. Quick up a fuss. Say post-Brexit the economy will go belly up and his business will go bust (actually the cut-price booze will probably be good in a time of recession). Me, and agenda?

I was in Sri Lanka donkeys years ago. Some of the locals could cut up a mango so you could have a proper feast rather than just slithers. Can't think of anything else you'd want to have ready prepared.

Kill yourself or befriend Robert Elms, the only person I respect who likes them. -
Hampden Park on a cold November night in 83. 20,000 and half the ground closed due to safety issues. Urinals were a wall/ The good old days.

Obnoxious Uber Eats cyclists in London Bridge station
malumbu replied to Ms Blueberry's topic in The Lounge
I know that some black cab drivers would happily eat me as a cyclist for breakfast. I thought better of Uber drivers. Can we have a petition? Does the PM know?? -
If I was to name the worst in London it is QPR. And whilst Craven Cottage is the friendliest, the arrangements in the away end lead to congestion and an accident waiting to happen if there is a rush to get out of the stand. As I have raised with the safety committee although they didn't agree with me proposing closing the ground!

Hmm Jolly nice. I'm not in the flog um and hang um brigade but there is less than a 100 of you, on film, ban um and exclusion them from the area. Always enjoyed going to the New Den. Not. See the match, leave, don't drink. The only ground in London were I feel this way. Irish Club in Spurs. Fine. Cherry Tree at Palace. Fine. Even found a friendly pub near West Am. The place I really feared though was the Kennel, Shadwll (the Dogs) were as rough as it came. Gillingham was fine. A bit of a bouncy floor, and you come out and expect to be ambushed on terraced street corners. But that was another age (the Baseball Ground) and some good pubs too. Goodison is a shite hole, where you have stancions in the way, but like the fans and a pub in every corner of the ground. Bit like Brentford I suppose. St Andrews was pretty horrid. Anyway here is some expert opionion And even better

And proposed by the labour government. For some reason it wont post the riposte so you will have to go to the original on the page before. I am saddened that the UK has fallen behind other nations with regards to high speed trains, whether it be a new line or we use the ones already there (I know that there is some capacity, or the basis of a spine already there). Conversely I'm unhappy about the roads programme, and posted before about the failure of the Greenest ever Government. Get us out of our cars, if we need to get us in more appropriate cars, and get more of us in them. The last labour government was seen to be an enemy of the motor vehicle. Good.

We had a notice served on us once for our house alarm going off. We haven't got one. Please don't break in.

Food hygiene - pah, another one of those things introduced by meddling Brussels, In my day you knew the places to avoid due to the number of deaths. And natural selection.
