Wow - if only we could have a more sensible and proportionate approach elsewhere eg - there are no pedestrians at the lights, you can cycle throughh. That will get you Daily Mail readers all angry.

So we voted to leave Europe, on part because the masses rejected our faith in the free market and the inequalities that this led to. Yet pubs, many of which we should value as community assets and should have some sort of protection, are run to maximise profit beit turning into trendy restaurants or selling off/knocking down as they are more valuable for other uses. Scores of successful or what could be successful beautiful pubs have been ruined across London - those on the Dulwich Estate, the Dulwich Woodhouse, many lovely pubs in the Youngs Estate. This is not defending pubs where there simply isn't enough demand. Although it is a shame where you have development of warehouse style or duplex, developments such as the Oval Quatier or more down market lower Sydenham that there will be no demand for treasured pubs yet a Pret, Costa or McDs will be packed. Good to see that Antic are bucking the trend in the Elephant probably recognising that with the large developments coming on line and some good brand awareness it can work. Back to my whinge - the Dog was a popular pub. Why not leave it that way?

This is a mixture of informed and casual views. I'm not aware of the impact of home deliveries vs old school shopping. What I do know is you don't have to lengthen bus journeys by much to reduce demand and people to return to their cars. IF you want to get people out of cars then make it difficult for them and make cycling more attractive. Hopefully that bus driver's son/geezer is onto this. Of course it is all the EU's fault so things will magically improve when we leave. Actually some common standards would not go amiss for example (can't remember why) there was a rejection of longer wheelbase buses in the UK.

The worst is the one on Cheltenham Road, keep shop customers waiting for 30 mins, whilst they take telephone orders. Shocking.

The dreadful habit that people have slipped into of using an adjective as an adverb. So a bus may be slow. This is a relative term. But the buses don't go more slowly when compared to each other or another form of transport. They go slower. Things don't move more quickly. They move quicker or faster.

Buses are driving slower not 'more slowly'. Slow is a comparative term. Compared to walking buses are faster. The World is a circle without a beginning and nobody knows where it really ends. A13 good choice. At least to sing to. But not sure if you go this route why you don't do the A12 instead. Careful with tunnels as they get bloomin blocked to easy.

Alternative is to take the OK Road, the A road, the A13 It starts down in Wapping There ain't no stopping By-pass Barking and straight through Dagenham Down to Grays Thurrock And rather near Basildon Pitsea, Thundersley, Hadleigh, Leigh-On-Sea, Chalkwell, Prittlewell Southend's the end

Straight through, Vauxhall Bridge, Victoria, Park Lane, A5 and then stick on that (or take another aterial road eg A41 Finchley Road) out to the North Circ. You can go the other way too via Tower Bridge, and then through Angel and Archway. Both will be busy during peak hours.

I've ranted about the cycle lane before - even if it was bright orange I am sure that it wouldn't make a difference. But to be fair I've walked into other cycle lanes in the past as it doesn't seem to be in our culture, for example like Denmark and the Netherlands. As for the kink at the end, it is a pain and does't flow, but then nor does that daft contraflow/gyratory at the Elephant. My main point is that I've not seen any bother between cyclsts and pedestrians in Peckham beyond the odd middle class do-gooder campaigns about our speeds on the canal path. The only conflict I had was when another cyclist got so close to me I clipped a pedestrian - I was the only one bothered as I wished the other cyclist a nice day. Not. Given up on the damage. Road is too narrow so buses mount the cycle path. Raised it with Southwark but their reply was "am I bothered" I'd defend cyclists to the hilt but then realised that it seemed to be cool to wear black, on a black bike with no lights.

I was quite excited to hear that the East Dulwich Forum is going to manage a new nuclear power station in Somerset. I was involved in the previous attempt - a public inquiry granted permission for a British built power station based on an American design, where replication and reliability was going to bring down costs. You still need industrial relations beit 2 people or 20 people and you have a right to organised laboour. There are some issues that need sorting my your own admission - 'stupid mistakes'. Speak to your trade union. If you are not a member join one. If you don't have one you appear to be motivated enough to bring one in - and better still represent your c0-workers. Best way of resolving grievances. And if for some reason you can't or don't want to have a formal trade union ask HR about a staff/management group (an informal TU). It is not all about conflict brother/sister.

Lucky me. Been on holiday for a week so missed being tugged by the OB. They have done this in the past. Yes we are a bit naughty but in the scale of things it is pretty near the bottom. The Council people were out doing it the other day so I told them to be useful and stop the pedestrians aimlessly walking across the cycle lane. But at the end of the day it is not a bad route and I never witness any rancour between pedestrians and cyclists (more likely to get bike on bike). Now, I'd already started thinking about more pressing issues before looking at the post above. But why don't they do more useful things like... catch criminals.... of more relevant do a few fines for cyclists without lights. Ideally a warning first for idiots like me who at this time of year forget that the nights are drawing in. They could also do the buses for mounting the cycle lanes and the numerous double line parkers. And those idiots on quad bikes and motorbikes. And the people who bloke the path by the library selling stuff or doing God bothering. And every other miscreant whilst they are at it. Don't usually take it out but boy have I been lucky - hiding scrapes and one time having to replace a tyre. Well known that this is a good source of revenue. Useful to hear of a separate policy Goldcar were in deed shysters. In Spain you had the choice of the usual suspects whose headline (but all inclusive) prices were high. Goldcar - the queue was well over an hour, and then they loaded me as well as that bloody daft you pay for all the fuel even though you use half of it. They are a regular source of complaints so this is not just me whinging. Also been stung by the "you need a credit card" or else you pay a lot more. 9/10 times it doesn't matter buy Goldcar and one other biggy were really fussy even though they accepted a debit card for the main payment, Buyer beware and if it seems too good to be true it is too good to be true!
