  1. Thanks for the sympathy, but the thought of contacting the local police did provide me with a bit of harmless amusement L
  2. The bottles full of urine at the corner of Worlingham,/Crawthew roads. There are about 20 there this morning. What it must be like for the owner of the house on which they lean doesn't bear thinking about. The locals are finding it disgusting and sickening. Someone saw a min-cab driver dumping one lot I wish I could offer you a solution. All I can think of is a CCTV camera, which as this spot is often used for fly tipping would be quite useful anyway. Presumably it's breaking the law concerning fly-tipping and also waste disposal. Lynne
  3. I'm glad this is providing everyone with a bit of harmless amusement. As someone who live very near,at the moment there are about 20 bottles and it's making me feel sick. Try laughing when they leave it on your doorstep and your children find it L
  4. If you look at the iron railings around the Dog Kennel Hill estate opposite ED station, you will see that they were made out of surplus stretchers made for use in the war. After it was all over, they were put to use all over London as fences and rails The flats at the bottom of Worlingham Rd stand where there was a church that got destroyed Lynne

    Mice!

It has to be snap traps, I've decided. If you use poison, they just creep away and die and then you get the smell. The sticky traps mean you have to dispose of wriggling mice. Over years of warfare I've decided that you can keep the numbers down, but not quite out. Mine live in the boiler, nice and warm and safe. As recomended, box up all food. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance, as someone said Lynne
  6. Mystery partly solved!!!!. My neighbour actually saw someone leaving the latest collection at the top of Worlingham Rd. She said it was a mini-cab but unfortunately didn't get the nunber. Is there nothing that can be done about it? Lynne
  7. I too go to Forest Hill Rd and have never had to wait unreasonably for an appointment But I have had trouble trying to ring through, and before now have given up and walked there. This is OK if you're not actually ill and need a booking for something no-urgent, but not otherwise Lynne
  8. Any chance of an answer to my question about caravans being parked on the road?. we've now had one parked on our street for days and I didn't think this was allowed Lynne
  9. Aha, how do you know it was melted down for scrap? (Could be gracing someones' garden) Where were you on the night of whenever it was? Lynne
  10. I've just visited the new Canada wharf library and I really think Southwark deserves a commendation for what is an interesting building with a fantastic stock in exactly the sort of area that needs a boost However, yes, there's always a niggle, it's obvious that this stock has been at the expense of all the other libraries. I realise why, when you open a landmark library you need landmark stock, but can I have some assurance that when the novelty has worn off that the jam will be spread more evenly? Dulwich library really is poor these days, nothing seems to get spent on new stock and they threw away all the old books too Lynne
  11. What's the law about leaving caravans (not motorhomes) on the street?. We seem to have acquired one in our road And back to the ?1,000,000 station fence, I'd happily do it for ?800,000 if that helps Lynne
  12. In answer to Saila, no, no emptyhouses/squats. Typical nice Ed residential. Untypical in that we have a urine collecting maniac locally who gets their kicks from leaving bottles of it everywhere Lynne
  13. Home Yellow brick green Circle of Goose Green roundabout Me 1.30pm Baths Sainsbury's bread Sunshine in back garden Lynne
  14. What about if the wierdo wants publicity? Perhaps he/she wants pictures of their urine spread across the world and now we're feeding this strangeness? Lynne
  15. I recently heard two elderly women talking in Farmers. One said "there's nothing in east Dulwich any more for the likes of us" Do people think this is sad or do they think that it merely reflects the changes in ED? Lynne
  16. I had a purse nicked at London Bridge station, too. Obviously a hot spot Lynne
  17. No buses go by here, nor coaches nor taxis so that's out, I'm afraid. And, no matter what, you can't get away from the fact that no matter why anyone should want/need to pee into a botle, it can be disposed of down a drain even if you haven't a loo. No, this is weird Lynne
  18. I've had my car window broken in Kent, my purse stolen in Bath, my car keyed in Wiltshire, sh=t happens. ED is a good place Lynne
  19. I put a post on about this too, under "Yellow fluid" If anyone wants to open it and have a sniff, they're welcome. I don't fancy it myself. And if it was a camper van or cooking oil or anything vaguely reasonable, well, there are drains. It's honestly disturbing to think that someone is this weird when you live nearby. I feel sorry for the Council's cleaning people (and it's not often I say that) Lynne
  20. In Weymouth, Dorset, you can buy cheap scratch cards for a certain number of days per quarter which enable you to park in the central area. This seemed to work. They weren't specific to any car, so you could lendit to a visitor if you were prepared to leave you own car further out Lynne
  21. Good for you. Someone in our street taped a message to the bins that she left in the road everyday saying how important it was to her that she had a parking place. And no, she wasn't disabled. I have been known to move them. Lynne
  22. Can we get back to facts? Which school imposed the poppy rule? You see, I don't think that this can be done and I'd be mildly surprised if any school had. There may have been some pressure from particular teachers/older pupils, but I don't think it could be mandatory so I would like someone to quote me chapter and verse, Lynne
  23. What's the rule about people leaving their bins in the road to reserve their parking place? I do agree about bins on ther pavement, but many people have such small front gardens that they've now become full of bins Lynne
  24. Yes, thanks. But obviously then I'm not the only person who didn't know Lynne
  25. If there were fewer estate agent cars it might help. My record is 35 in three neigbouring streets. If there were CPZs, jut out of interest, how many permits would they be allowed? Lynne
