  1. Do you think Mr Robson had been paying a visit to his old chum Mr Jerome ?
  2. The last time we went to a lovely sausage throwing gathering in The Gardens (about 8 years ago) my daughter got chicken pox from a spotty little friend of ours. It was just before the summer holidays and no one would come near us in case their kids got it before they went on their holidays...........happy days.
  3. I think a lot of us take a few steps backward and sigh a bit when it gets all lairy..... I will only dare to post then if I've had a glass of wine in case any thing gets misinterpreted or overly analysed in a using big words kind of way and then I shout at my computer and wish I could think of something incredibly clever and put downy to say then I just think Oh sod it ...... Then I go into my garden (yes I know I am lucky to have one etc) and squash some snails or look at ladybirds or something and everything is alright again... Share the love ED !
  4. Just got home and walked past NASTY blue and pink decorated Foxtons car parked outside Appollo video......
  5. My friend used to rent a flat in The Gardens through a company called TILT, on Peckham Rye. She had her own key for the garden and we could only go there when she invited us in ! If you aren't with a doctor The Gardens practice is very good. PS welcome back!
  6. Check out today's South London Press , page 30 (no NOT "Gun Offender caught with his pants down") but nice pic. of some local kids showing their cloth bag designs. Thanks to Monica for putting the SLP in touch with us at school.
  7. Piers- well done for getting to the end of The Book of Dave. I am stuck very near the beginning. It is worth the struggle? Sean- Clare /Claire -you are absolutely right-completely different names. I didn't think the post was referring to me (Clare) until I went back after you drew my attention to the spelling. A bit sad really .Is it the same for you with Shaun/Shawn ?
  8. Hear hear Monica. James who runs Jacks is lovely (even though he supports Chelsea). Blue Brick on Fellbrigg is under new management- taken over by one of its existing staff when previous owner went back to running a pub. ps Jacks on Pellat Road.
  9. Sean- please don't not have children (sorry about double negative) because of other parents opprobrium. You always sound like a person of sense (mostly!) when you post on the forum. You'll find your way ! It's late , we're in the Lounge so I'll say it - god some of these postings are pompous and wearisome. Jeeez. Night all
  10. The woman there is over seventy and has worked really long hours for years. Hope you get your clothes back Dom and I hope they enjoy their retirement, they absolutely deserve it. ps where can I get my duvets washed now?
  11. Jacks is lovely and the food very good. If you don't want to eat round lots of babies though try and avoid peak times.

Elizabeth- they were a bit vague about what they were going to put in their pies (NB barber across road..) so why don't you pop in and put in a request for something veggie ? They are very friendly in there.

Emily's on Northcross Road are planning a refurbishment this summer and are going to do sit down pie and mash from autumn.
  14. Did any one watch the Cinema Paradiso outdoor screening of the Blair Witch Project at the Adventure Playground on Peckham Rye a few years ago ? I was too scared to go !
  15. My mum told me I was conceived in Morecombe. Her and dad were on holiday and she said there wasn't much else to do. Fair enough.
  16. No statues/lamposts/M&S that I could make out but lots of nice cannas and begonias. Must be summer
  17. Thanks Ant ! Ps. Felt a lot better an hour later after watching a top episode of Dr Who!
  18. I was walking along Underhill Road with my super new haircut yesterday when 2 men cycled past. One said "phwooarrrr" really loudly. I tried not to look disapproving but was secretly thrilled. The other cyclist then said, "Yeah that creosote smells something terrible doesn't it?" They hadn't even seen me. *crushed*
  19. Brenda Blethyn used to live on Crystal Palace Road but I think she lives in Honor Oak or Forest Hill now.
  20. I like a nice mooch round Borough market. kids like sampling free stuff ! South Bank should have loads going on as is all reopening. Somerset House has the fountains on- excellent (and free) when hot. Lambeth Country show always good fun- last weekend of July I think. Oh and the Lido of course-get the bus as parking can be a nightmare.
  21. Is that the opposite side to the school? On the school side they are building a theatre with which I'm sure they will justify their charitable status by sharing with the local community........
  22. Wasn't Tim the manager?? Maybe he was head hunted....... Last time he cut my hair we had a long chat about his twins and schools and all that stuff. Maybe he's just moved house. Shame though. Nice man and good stylist.
  23. was it to do with the open day at the police station?
  24. sorry amelie. I agree with snorky. ludicrous waste of money. (I find I agree with snorky about lots of things actually. Hurrah for snorky. the voice of reason.) ps I am not a male. pps also not married ! ( not at 2k a dress)
  25. And of course my soul mate the lovely Jo (even though she lives in North Dulwich Triangle)
