  1. Yes, it's great being a local teacher and working really hard all day. Then you come back from school and someone with some kind of axe to grind is slagging your school off and being rather nasty about people you work with ........
  2. We came back late one night recently from the airport with our 3 kids asleep in the car. We parked outside the 7/11 on Northcross Road so that my partner could nip in and buy a pint of milk. 3 charmless city drunkards came along and scooped up loads of apples and started throwing them (very hard) down the backs of peoples houses on Nutfield Road, aimimg at the windows. They saw me in the car watching (a little aghast-it was early hours and they were throwing the apples extremely hard). Get this- then they started throwing the apples at our windscreen ! Niiice. I got out of the car to remonstrate, telling them I had sleeping kids in the car. They told me to f**k off and jumped into a cab laughing. Partner returns with milk oblivious. I was so gob smacked I didn't even tell him. I didn't think he'd believe me......it was so surreal.

(But doesn't he support Sheffield Utd ?) I'm in awe of any one who could get to 50 without a dictionary. We had a go last night and were defeated by 45 . (My dad was a latin teacher so I like to think I'm good with words...I obviously aren't.....I'm off to have another go right now !} Well done SimonM is what I really meant to say. P S My dad would also have corrected my grammar in the above sentence.

Did you use a dictionary ???
  5. Reminds me of my friend in Tatton being doorstepped by David Soul in the election when he was campaigning for Martin Bell. (At least I hope it was Martin Bell and not Neil Hamilton)
  6. Went in by chance this morning- didn't realise it was the first day- friendly staff, lovely coffee. Fantastic views across the Rye. I told her to check her progress through the EDF !
  7. I always like the names Crystal Clear and Snorky. (Snorky reminds me of the Banana Splits which I used to love watching when I was a kid.) I thought it was funny when Crystal changed his name to Fear n' boozin. I never thought he was a girl......
  8. I think it's called something else now but it's in the same place.
  9. Just got back from lovely drink at Montpellier. Screen rolled up so no one watching football. Depeche Mode playing (bit too loud but I am geting on a bit). We didn't eat but food looked good (and an alternative to Bar Storey and Peckham Experiment).
  10. Sorry EDA. I thought you were David Carnell !
  11. My mum has a lovely photo of Eddie Grey and my 3 brothers with the F A Cup when Leeds won it in 1972. He used to go to our church. What a hero ! (And Terry Yorath used to go the bookies with my dad but I think that was a little less wholesome) David you are right about keeping the faith of course- Marching on Together....
  12. Well it had to happen. Leeds lose their first game of season , 1-3 ( and Carlisle score in 90th minute). *sigh* Can we have our 15 points back please?
  13. Sorry that was a dismal failure.Try again later.
  14. /Users/paulfennelly/Desktop/P9150008.JPG Met these lovely Leeds fans when I popped up to see my mum the other week.....
  15. As we play all the day for Leeds United Elland Road is the only place for us With heart and soul for the goal that's clearly sighted We're out to toast each other from that that golden cup ! You should see how he runs speedy Reaney...... (......well he's probably a bit slower these days). 4-2 at full time...Dennis must have told them to ease off for old times sake....
  16. Bleak House (2nd attempt but I've got to chapter 15 and I'm off to read it now.....)
  17. Railway Children ("daddy my daddy") It's a Wonderful Life ("Zu Zu's petals") Sound of Music (Christopher Plummer singing Eidelweiss - embarrasing I know ! )
  18. I'm also a parent with children at 2 different schools in East Dulwich. I like to think my comments are based on what I know, and what I experience. Take as much salt as you need.
  19. It's official ! The Plough now beats The Upland for category of "teachers lunching and getting back just in time for school" Friendly staff, good service and you can park.
  20. Dulwich Park Fairy- if you have issues with a school for any reason then please address them to the school concerned. I do not log on to the East Dulwich Forum to hear nasty comments like yours.
  21. FYI Charter School GCSE results 61 % A-C this year not "languishing somewhere around 30 % "
  22. Yes Curmudgeon -my 10 year old daughter made all those signs. She too was a little emotional. She was torn between being pleased that someone on the forum had noticed her efforts and feeling patronised at her drawings being called "kiddy" ! ( Admittedly not helped by me coming home saying "Hurrah they've got rid of that stupid tree")
  23. That tree on Fellbrigg Road made a large dent in our car. And dents in lots of other cars. It had to go. Needless to say our tree hugging daughter spent all evening making those signs to save the tree........ She was very upset when she got home from school.
  24. Richard Thomas has been on paternity leave. I have always found him helpful and approachable. He was very proactive in getting a new lollipop lady for Barry Road.
