  1. was it to do with the open day at the police station?
  2. sorry amelie. I agree with snorky. ludicrous waste of money. (I find I agree with snorky about lots of things actually. Hurrah for snorky. the voice of reason.) ps I am not a male. pps also not married ! ( not at 2k a dress)
  3. And of course my soul mate the lovely Jo (even though she lives in North Dulwich Triangle)
  4. You can never have too many geminis. Floaty butterflies or just 2 faced ? I share June 3 with Suzy Quatro, Tony Curtis and Tiannemen Square.
  5. Hurrah for Geminis everywhere!
  6. If anyone wants to borrow an idealistic 10 year old then let me know. If I so much as type ryan air into the computer I have Ms eco head flapping round me telling me to stop killing the planet. Got told off for buying peanut butter as contains palm oil. Got told off for buying marshmallows as contain gelatine. Got told off for picking her from school in the car. (don't normally but it was chucking it down. I thought i was being a nice mum). Thank god I can eat Mars bars with a clear conscience............phew.......
  7. In the new style Karavan (of love) you can buy wind up radios, lead free paints, clever solar thingys that you can charge up your i-pod with on holiday , eco light bulbs, eco kettles, eco books, etc etc. not got full stock in yet but they sre interested in what us locals think so get yourselves in there and let them know! ps my birthday next week and would love wind up radio. thanks in advance if anyone reading this over my shoulder....
  8. Or if you are set on native plants go and visit the Wildlife Centre on Marsden Road. White bizzie lizzies look great in a non sunny corner too. trust me.
  9. Back to the subject - I work in a local primary school in East Dulwich so if anyone wants to pm me with something sensible (spot the teacher- sit up at the back there) then I can put it to our school.
  10. I too thought Saturday was tedious in the extreme- loads of pages of playing squash (yawn) and buying fish (snore) . Ludicrous story line (zzzzzzz). Mind you my partner thinks it's one of the best books ever. I just don't get it. My idea of hell would be having to watch it as a film with Richard E Grant in the lead role.....
  11. Any one know any thing about Blue Brick on Fellbrigg being "under new manangement?" (sign in window last week).
  12. Love the postcard! Have just written one to my daughter away on school trip. She will be so so homesick when she sees that Dawsons heights shot (or maybe not but I love it anyway).
  13. That is lovely to read B-N. Say hello next week on Wed morning. We'll be there!
  14. We started up a walking bus to Goodrich School about 5 years ago now. We tramp up to school up CPR come rain or shine 3 mornings a week wearing our stylish fluorescent tabards. What's happenning now though is that as the school catchment area has shrunk we aren't getting families from down CPR any more. If any one interestd in starting up a walking bus at your local school contact Southwark Safer Routes to School. They did road safety training with the children and the parents. It is hard work keeping the commitment going but much better than driving for all the obvious reasons. Nice and sociable too!
  15. Well I'm from Leeds and supported them since Don Revie days. Still support them even though we have ignominiously been relegated to Div 1. (Hurrah Millwall at the Den next season). I can't understand why people born in London don't support London teams (apart from Chelsea obviously). ps. my dear departed dad a scouser who couldn't understand why all his kids (born in Leeds) didn't support Liverpool!
  16. Is that tree still behind the cafe in dulwich park that all the kids love climbing on? This time of year any of the horse chestnut trees are magnificnt and they look great this year-last year they had a bad time with fungus and viruses and whatever. Lovely Judas tree flowering right now at entrance of JAGS. I like that.
  17. Steady on.......we were cutting out pictures of Peter Lorimer and Billy Bremner to stick in our scrap books on our side of the Pennines......Bernard Manning was a little vulgar thank you.
  18. Anyone mentioned the lovely lovely people who work in Paine and Hunter?
  19. Hear Hear on both counts- REG- turn off TV if he is on. dreadful overacting always. TP-don't ever read his books they are utter drivel....
  20. Hurrah ! New lovely lollipop person on crossing at Barry Road this morning. Only temporary I fear but thanks to Councillor Richard Thomas for following this up on our behalf.
  21. Back to the cactus on Dunstan's Road. I have had the privilige of meeting and having tea with the lovely couple who have lived there for years and years. Len is a cactus and succulent expert and if you are interested in them ( which I am for some peculiar reason) then he is a fantastic person to talk to. Haven't seen him for a while now but they are truly truly ED residents who aren't interested in house prices or foccacia or posh wine. They are Lovely people. They are the kind of people who make me proud to live in ED big time.
  22. The pecking order for those kids that live closest is not a pecking order-it's simply those who live closest get in first. All community schools give priority to siblings -that's what contributes them to being part of a community. I think it would be a disgrace if they didn't prioritise siblings (unless of course you lie successfully about where you really live and then you should be publically humiliated and have your own monstrous headline in the SLP.)
  23. We always hold our breath when we pass the monkey puzzle tree on CPR. If you don't you grow a monkey tail!
  24. The man who was working on the outside of Karavan said it was same owner but more stuff from China.
  25. My friend on Crystal Palace Road gave us 3 boxes of kiwi fruit from her kiwi last summer. They tasted fabulous.
