  1. Can someone post a link to the consultation results pls...?
  2. DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But that still means that only 26.6 % of people on > Derwent expressed a positive response....that's > hardly the majority of people living there is it? 2 to 1 voted in favour. So of those who voted 66.6* % vote in favour.
  3. From what James has written it's clear. He removed notices which should never have been on the notice board placed there by someone who had no business posting notices there. Pretty clear though he could have made it even clearer for the hard of reading. Sounds like Monkey business / Politics as usual then? Edit to add + what peckhamboy said
  4. Penguin68 Yes Death would also sort out the Parking problem. Are you waiting for the next plague or offering to sacrifice yourself?
  5. buddug Are you talking about the kind of fascist state we had under ken livingstone and the introduction of the congestion zone ? ken was voted in twice... I guess if he was in James?s position we wouldn?t have any say?.. democracy ? do calm down you're going to do yourself a mischief. first mate have a read of the faq in the consultation information sheet it covers everything and a CPZ can?t be run for free so what if the council makes a profit that profit will go to pay for salaries for council employees who are actual doing a job which needs doing ,,, for a change?. gm99 That CPZ has been going for a short time let?s see what the situation is in 6-12 months. What?s going on there now is not a true picture. TheArtfulDogger Enjoy? Delaying the inevitable is only good for commuters and business owners who park all day in the spaces they should leave for their customers. They?ll have the option to pay ?525 a year for a permit, maybe they?ll then get the bus or car share or maybe they?ll get a business near where they live and let a local take over their business who knows. CPZ?s have been introduced all over London and they seem to work. They operate without much problem. There few other alternatives for residents parking within 5 mins walk of a Tube or Train Station. It?s inevitable may as well get it in now.

I used to until I realised I'd get a stinking headache the next day. Now I go to another pub and no headache good service and good food No dealing with idiot bar staff who don't know whose next in line. But there are those who like Wong Kei in soho for the abuse they get, I guess the dog is a little like that for some and they like it. Not me.
  7. Yes James is just a politician. 1 Trying to get votes 2 Trying to ?help? to get more votes 3 Trying to ?look like he?s doing the right thing? to get more votes Putting that aside. ?That?s stuff we all know? He probably has a better balanced view of what the majority want and need, armed with information from the specialists and the experiences of others and conversations with the locals, chances are we?ll end up with what is required for the benefit of the majority. Voters don?t always know what is best for them. The James?s of this world don?t get everything right, but they do a better job than any kangaroo court of local neighbours ever would.
  8. The Staff at the dog have no more than 2 brain cells between them. They struggle to serve even when the place is empty they fannying around and can?t keep the place clean it?s full of fruit flies and if the wind blows in a certain direction you can smell the stench of filth from the cellar throughout the pub, the food is garbage and the pump beers are part cleaning fluid and guaranteed to give you a stinking hangover. The Gents toilet stinks like a cess pit in Cairo. It should be closed down and converted in a Bingo Hall. It's the best looking worst pub in the UK. Run and staffed by 100% Muppets. God knows what it'd be like as a Hotel my guess is it would make Fawlty Towers look like the Grosvenor. Complete S""?T hole./
  9. According to the Objectors there is apparently ?NO parking problem?. so NO problem = a CPZ will have ?little impact? on OTHER Streets if introduced. Let those who want a CPZ have a CPZ if that?s just 2 roads Derwent and Tintagel. Do this in a democratic a street by street basis. NO problem?.. Democracy can?t get any better than that!
  10. Me2. Either the collection crews aren?t doing their job as they should be sweeping up any mess that they make as they go. Or a road cleaning crew needs to follow the recycling crew to clean up their mess.
  11. So - not necessarily commuters!! Let?s get Sherlock on the case. Who could they be ?.. Tourists? Day trippers? Lost OAPs? Ramblers? Dog walkers? Plumbers? Doctors? Vicars? Who knows could be an alien invasion Maybe we Dr Who Someone out there must be able to get to the Answer? It?s a mystery. Looks like the opposite of the Bermuda CPZ.

Good sense of community spirit. That's what happens when you live in a Stalinist state. The neighbours start to get busy round your possessions and you get reported to the Police for peeking from behind your curtains in a funny way and told off because you have the wrong kind of car and people who don?t have don? want and don?t use make the decisions on what you should have and use and the way you use it and what you spend on it and how long you are allowed to own it and etc etc etc? Look let?s face it Stalinist ideals as in Ken Livingstone?s congestion charge. Just fantastic it?s great if you have the money you get to go up to town and there are fewer cars fantastic! The same would be true for East Dulwich with the CPZ we?d be able to use the parking and it would be socially better for everyone even the poor they would be better off because they would have another reason to move to another area which would mean they wouldn?t have to put up with all the yuppies swanking around. It?s a more orderly system and will help sort the chaff from the wheat. CPZ is a great leveller it?s just another social way of making people find their place in the world. CPZ The best thing for the whole comunity no question...
  13. What peckhamboy said.... +1 This should be a Controlled Posting Zone CPZ
  14. peterstorm1985 I rarely use my car I'm out of the UK for months I often park my car at friends near the airport. Besides. What I do with my car is not anyone else?s business it's mine and I love it it's a compete waste of money but it's my money and if I want I?ll buy another bigger faster one which uses twice the amount of fuel and keep the one I have too. The last time I looked we?re living in a Stalinist state. If people can?t afford it they that?s tough, it shouldn?t impact those who can! The car has been the biggest social leveller in the history of man and it is going to continue to bring ease of movement and social equality and work and prosperity to more and more people. Embrace the social change the car has made for the benefit of the poor. In real terms it?s never been cheaper to own a car. Sorry what is your genius solution to the parking problem around train stations?
  15. Thanks to genius of some of the last few posts. I?ve decided to completely change my life. I?m selling my car and I?m going to move closer to where I work. I work in different places every few months so it?s going to cost me a few quid in agents fees and stamp duty every 6 to 12 months but it?ll be worth it for the environment and will help my neighbours as they won?t have to put up with me having a car so freeing up parking for people who want to use the station near my home and the people who work locally. Yes the thanks to those posts on this thread which show the ideal solution I just didn?t see it before. Some of you may think this crazy but just look at the logic it?s a no brainer. It will benefit many who don?t live anywhere near me. Pure Genius.

  17. peterstorm1985 It's funny a large section of the UK population do not know. I wonder could that have something to do with the education system. Maybe there need to be classes in where our TAX money goes from the age of 4 ideally to give them time to work through the complexities when they leave at 16 but from 11 year old they'd still have 5 years to grasp the basics. How about a GCSE in UK Taxation. Of course no chance of that it would actually lead to a wothwhile job qualification??
  18. umm Yes but they'll happily pay ?50 a month for SKY or ?500 for an Iphone which they don't know how to use. Nothing worst than spending your money on something you really need or use.
  19. On a motoring forum I think pistonheads there was a thread about VED / Road Tax Someone posted "It's about time Top Gear told everyone there's been no Road Tax since the 30's" Reply was "nobody believes what's said on Top Gear except that Hammond bleached his teeth" We brits are treated like mushrooms, especially by the politicians and the press.
  20. A parking space is worth ?10,000 +. The financing costs of 10k on your mortgage at 5% over 25 year is about ?60 a month or ?720 a year. ?125 a year for a guaranteed parking space outside your home is cheap. Parking the facts we will all need to accept in the East Dulwich Metropolis. 1. We will have more and more cars because pubic transport and legs do not work for anyone who wants to get from A to B when they want to... 24hrs a day 365 days a year and more people = more cars. 2. Local authorities will make money from car parking and CPZ?s. Get over it! 3. There will be fewer and fewer spaces due to ?safety?. Read this for fun?. Because there are so many accidents and injuries on the roads as they currently are. It?s so dangerous I get anxiety just thinking about walking anywhere in case I end up in hospital. I?m so pleased all those double yellow lines are there to protect me and that every year or two the roads are rearranged with new crossings new layouts new curbs and then a couple of years later they rearrange it again and again they a dig up for new gas and water and new telephone and electric and drainage it?s great. Except when those road works make it even more dangerous than it usually is which means code red which is why they work so fast to get the roads repaired quickly and don?t leave them idles for weeks on end as sadly that?s when more accidents happen because the people responsible are too busy in their offices drinking tea and pushing paper rather than checking what?s going on. 4. Policies there are no plans to build more parking and there never will be. (The money is being spent on Concrete house hysteria and similar job creation ventures oh and rearranging to make the roads safe see above fun 3.). 5. New development will never have a requirement for more parking because homes are for people ?not cars? which is good. There is no way we can add more car parking spaces to the current housing stock. (Unless we bulldoze a few Victorian streets and rebuild 4+storey with underground parking). Or point 4. Is reversed. 6. ? I?m happy to pay ?125 a year and if there is still not enough parking I?d pay ?250 or ?400 a year, it?s still going to be cheaper than buying a parking space. I?ll just buy a cheaper car maybe a Zero road tax car. Or it can stay as it is we pay nothing and have nothing because that?s were we are going see facts 1.-5. We?ll run out of parking some time soon even if cars are electric zero pollution cars they?ll still need a parking space. We have few options reality and the facts are against us. With a 1hr CPZ we will still get the shoppers keeping the area alive unlike Camberwell and Peckham which have almost 24/7 CPZ. If we are talking about a 1 hr CPZ restricting parking between 12 and 1pm shoppers can still buy a ticket to cover that 1 hour period. Unfortunately Logic = CPZ
  21. Aii Greece Which is what we're starting to look like....
  22. If this was America we wouldn't be piddling around like this. It's pathetic. I quote "We shouldn't have cars, we should all cycle, and we should all take the train or the bus or walk or crawl on all fours? ?I don?t want a CPZ cos I?d have nowhere to park there?d be less parking bla bla bla?? Where are the British brains the positive workmanlike approach the positivity to build towards a better future? We lost it after the Victorian era and now no one knows what to do or how to do it or roughly what it should cost. Did all the brains die the the two WW?s? If the Victorians were organising this shower, we?d have a proper solution. We?re an embarrassment?
  23. I spend more time walking and runing than I do driving. But what's that got to do with the CPZ ...
  24. All very expensive to the tax payer. If it has real historical significance and value then fine. But the laws covering enforcement etc are not up to the job. If the owner was able to play fast and loose the system it allowed him for far too many years. Will this experience change anything? It?s still a catalogue of incompetence and unnecessary expense on Southwark part. And in the end for not a lot?
  25. I love concrete it's a fantastic building material, only the Co2 impact on the environment in the cement manufacturing process is a problem. What I?m not a fan of is the cost of this concrete house to tax local payer what real benefits are there to us / the community it?s been 30 years wasted empty and now it?s going to be compromised social housing and for the plot size it?s a very poor use of the land. Pull it down and build a good concrete house fit for purpose.
