    The Patch

Just saying... ;-)

    The Patch

I'm probably one of several people quietly following this thread in order to find out more about The Patch. Wading through all these personal spats is really tedious, especially when peering at my iphone at work.

Agree - have had several and didn't occur to me to do something so cruel...just lifted them back out of the window. H
  5. Ah yes. That is an excellent observation Mills. Only one way to find out eh?
  6. Isn't a one word post just as likely to send us over the edge? Serious question!
  7. I'm taking it really really seriously. I am. What page are we on?
  8. Nothing on Orange either - weird!
  9. Saied was working in the garden until dark on Friday because the trees were late being delivered from Suffolk. Despite the Glastonbury style mudbath after hours of rain, 5 trees were successfully planted, and 2 days on are all looking very happy in their new home. Saied will be back with the last of the trees (apricot) when it's ready next month and I know that all 6 trees will be safe in his hands from now on, though he's also happy to teach me how to look after them myself. The garden is looking so much better after a major tidy up too. A thoroughly nice guy, who I entrusted with my house keys all week without hesitation. I don't say this often, but I cannot recommend him highly enough. My faith in the EDF is restored!
  10. Forgot to mention - yesterday he brought me a bag of apples and pears from his own garden!
  11. After reading this thread I asked Saied to come and look at my garden in the hope of some inspiration! After some very dodgy experiences with people recommended on the EDF (fencing, general gardening) I'm delighted to have found someone who not only really knows his stuff, but now he has started I can see is totally committed to doing the best possible job. Saied is currently preparing the ground for several fruit trees, which he has sourced himself and even travelled to Suffolk to check they are of the right quality. They are due to be delivered tomorrow and I can't wait to see them begin to flourish. Wish I could post before and after photos here!
  12. I am a supporter of the M+S/ Waitrose idea but didn't like the look of the M+S proposal, I think most reasonable people could see that it would not have been much fun for the immediate residents (I'm on Overhill, miles away!) Easy to make accusations of NIMBYism when you aren't affected yourself! If Waitrose now come forward with a proposal that doesn't negatively affect nearby residents, I'm all for it :)
  13. Saw the new post and really hoped it would say it had been found :( Eyes are peeled!

Yes I'm sure they do, but I wanted to mention this specifically because my car wasn't on the street but on the drive. Sorry you had a similar experience. Police have been good....to be honest I only reported it because Tomtom can't or won't block the stolen device until they have a Crime Ref number - the PC who came over was very helpful and phoned later with the CRN knowing I needed it to submit to Tomtom.

Mind you, if there are gadgets around now that can unlock a BMW just like that, with all its clever anti theft technology, what's the point of locking up anyway!
  17. I'm at the top of the hill near the shop. Went away this weekend and left the car on the drive - unlocked by mistake. Came back to find the satnav gone (this was hidden) and all the parking change gone from the dashboard box - had just 'refreshed' this supply of course... Obviously I should have locked the car but I'm just flagging this up as it was on the drive not the street, so rather than a casual walk by, someone has actually walked onto the drive to check things out....and got lucky in this case. Whether they would have gone as far as breaking in, who knows - I suppose I'm 'lucky' there's no damage to the car. So, even if you have OSP always lock up. My first experience of crime in ED :-( Helen
  18. Might it be worth posting in the SE23 Forum? http://www.se23.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=2
  19. Am working again sadly - have a great night!
  20. Hi folks. Not sure which is the right Board to post this, so here goes.... Anyone got any thoughts on a good time to sell a garden flat - in fact, is there such thing as a good time, or is that just folklore/agent bs/ completely irrelevant? I'm planning to sell mine and not sure if it matters that Spring has come and gone and now, with the best will in the world, anyone who makes me an offer won't be in before Autumn. OTOH it's big enough for a family and in a decent catchment area so I suppose that could come into play. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts/experiences of selling at different times of the year really. Pointless asking the agent, he just says do it yesterday! Thanks!
