  1. Hi! I have a garden flat in one of the Victorian buildings opposite Dawsons Heights at the top of Overhill. Bought it last year. It is far bigger than I could ever have afforded nearer LL, partly because of its distance from the main action but also because the buildings are generally bigger up here! So I got a great size flat, big garden and fantastic views over to HOP and the Horniman for a good 10% less than I would have paid further in for a smaller property. As has been said, it depends on your priorities. It's green and quiet and there's a nice shop opposite. It would probably be a noisy traffic cut through but luckily is one-way down at the LL end. I drive everywhere so not bothered by the public transport thing, though a short stroll in either direction takes you to several bus stops. I don't bother cos I'm lazy & unfit :-/ but the option is there! Happy flathunting!
  2. Thanks - just seen on the Southwark website that all parks are unlocked by 7.30am so I'm going to take their word for it and be there by 7.15!
  3. Yes I do mean that one, thank you - any idea when I can be sure of it being open?
  4. Hi folks. Just accidentally had my car locked overnight in the car park opposite WD station - the sign says it opens again at 8am, anyone know if this is accurate?

  6. Me too please! Sorry Mike.....fashionably late as usual....x

  9. Fun evening, thanks everyone! X
  10. Is it too late for me to join in MP?
  11. Sorry to miss CC again, am in the US working. Boo :-( Helen
  12. Trying to help you with this but the link still doesn't work!
  13. Yes, that link just takes us to the SM homepage....
  14. I just moved the car down to Underhill to give myself some choices later - roads are clear, and the pavements in Underhill and Overhill (beginning to sound like the Wombles) have been gritted - they're fine....for now anyway. H
  15. Thanks for the replies. Is as I feared then! I'm right at the brow of the hill and really don't fancy attempting it now I've looked out of the window! Waving back to fellow Overhillers - stay safe! Ps any hot tips on getting to the South Bank without a car?
  16. Hi all. I'm on Overhill - first winter here, so just wondering how well our street is gritted for the snow? The idea of losing control of the car and sliding into Underhill is in danger of keeping me awake tonight...thanks for any experience!
  17. >>>>>>I think I'm speaking for everyone except property investors or people who are planning to leave.<<<<<< Well I'm neither, so you're not speaking for me, are you? Sorry, just not a fan of sweeping generalisations!
  18. I'd love to see an independent stationers/art supplies shop. This wonderful old fashioned place in Finsbury Park is still thriving
  19. >>>People don't want property prices to rise even further. The only people who would benefit are people who leave the area. What people? With respect, you're not speaking for me. I have no plans to leave the area but if in the meantime my flat goes up in value because of improvements to the area, why would I mind? It's my greatest asset after all (and my pension, being self employed) and I worked really hard to get it! Anyway, sorry let's stick to the development itself....I just wanted to respond to a particular post. H
  20. Phoned DMC to make a non urgent appointment yesterday - nothing until January!
  21. I've only been here a relatively short time, and am largely in favour of the M+S idea. Each to their own. That aside, I'm still confused as to what is 'bad' about improving the desirability of an area. Does it not benefit everyone, most particularly the people who live here, be they young or old, rich or poor?
  22. > Replacing Iceland > will make the area more desirable > driving > property prices. Bad. I'm a bit puzzled as to why anyone would think the area becoming more desirable is bad? So, logically, the area NOT becoming more desirable is good?
  23. I found that an interesting read, but it was somewhat spoiled by the nasty comments below it. Note to self - don't scroll down!
