Just out of interest, franglaisia - which parts of America have you visited?

Why live anywhere else in London?

Probably another bookie...

On Sunday, they were beginning to lock up Peckham Rye Park at 16:30, with the whole park closing at 17:00. DP may follow similar times.

Lizzygotdizzy - where did you get this information from? I've tried to find an online source but only found it mentioned briefly on a pub message board. Same with the mysterious "Toms Act"...

I have no objection to the "law-abiding majority" of drivers who obey the speed limits and wish there were more of you. This thread was started as a discussion of ways to stop people disobeying speed limits and putting others' lives at risk.

I assume you got that 5% figure from this report? It also states (table 4f) that other contributory factors in accidents are: Careless, reckless or in a hurry 18% Travelling too fast for conditions 11% While it's obvious that accidents are not simply caused by people exceeding the speed limit, it's undeniable that when accidents do occur, the damage done is far greater. > Here are two possible solutions: > > 1. I think the problem is the aggressive nature of a large number of drivers in this country and their addiction to fast driving. > 2. Active road signs. Yes, I agree - these seem to have some effect.

As has been pointed out before, there used to be a record and CD store on LL (opposite the Palmerston), but the business failed. That was maybe 5-7(?) years ago, before downloading took hold and when there was much more of a market for "physical product". To open one in 2008 - and in that part of ED - seems nuts.

I live near Goodrich School and the speed that cars race up and down Dunstan's Road (a shortcut between LL and Peckham)and Upland Road is often frightening. I can't see how the "average speed cameras" would work on those roads. kford Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ED residents, especially those around Barry Road, > look forward to your ?60 fines and three points > for straying up to 24 mph when you pop to the tip. Barry Road itself has a 30mph limit, doesn't it? Why people need to drive in excess of 20mph on the "back roads" off Barry Road is beyond me, since the travelling time "saved" is negligible and it justs put others at risk.

Should East Dulwich twin with Dulwich Hill?
BJL replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I noticed it on a city map when I was in Sydney last September: Dulwich Hill is very close to Sydenham, Lewisham, Croydon and er - Canterbury. I think Newtown would be a better Sydney district to twin with... -
In the early '80s I used to go there a lot, mostly to visit two friends who ran the record stall there - Chicken Shack. Other friends sold clothes on the first floor. When did it close, anyway?

Quite right - it's an utter disgrace that the Sea Cow should try to be different from other fish & chip restaurants.

???? - stop being so cowardly. What exactly did you mean? Falcao - there was no mention of people from "outside the area" in the original post. Shu.Kurimu.Sensei wrote: I've seen a lot of kids from Peckham and other areas south of here coming into ED on the 37 and 185, literally in packs, getting off around Nero then moving up towards Alleyns. Presumably that's how they decided that they weren't from around here. Or their school uniforms - I don't know.

I don't know for sure what date I was actually born on.

Atila - no, I don't DJ there. I like the "Lucky 7s" idea and since it's so local, I just thought I'd drop in.

Right, Sean - I don't think they're bad, just over-rated (IMO).
