Legally, there is no such thing as "consensual sex" with a minor. That's true now and was true then.

    Your best pasta?

I can't think of an easier sauce than this one - burro e salvia. Very tasty, especially with a fresh ravioli.
  4. I would definitely not recommend CleanQueens for an EOT clean.
  5. Thanks for the suggestion SCSB79 - I'll give them a call. All other ideas still welcome...
  6. Any recommendations for a good restaurant for New Year's Eve? We're looking to go for an earlyish meal and then go on somewhere else, so we're not in search of a place with a NYE "package" - just somewhere with good (not very expensive) meal with atmosphere. Most styles of cooking are fine and anywhere in the City or central/north London would be convenient. Thanks...
  7. Perhaps surprisingly, I find the staff in the Sainsbury's Local at the Plough are great. Friendly, helpful and engaging.

Louisa, "my love" - why don't you go to Brixton market anymore? A couple of years ago you seemed so keen on it...
  9. I agree, Tony - there are lots of other dangerous roads/junctions in ED. The junction of Underhill/Dunstan's is another. Barry Road is particularly bad because of the ridiculous speeding that goes on there.
  10. There was a bad accident by that junction a couple of months back - a speeding driver lost control, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and hit three parked cars (two were written off, as was the driver's). He was driving so fast that the parked cars were shunted 6 feet along the road. Many drivers drive terribly down Barry Road. They speed, overtake when unsafe and generally treat it like a racetrack. (It's not helped by drivers who poke their cars out too far when trying to cross Barry Road.) I'm sure that a couple of speed cameras or some traffic calming measures would help reduce the accident rate.
  11. Can you hang the bikes from the ceiling or wall? makes for a lot more room and a nice way to store the bikes indoors and out of the way- may have to talk a landlord into securing hooks...
  12. Apologies - something's come up and I can't make it. Hope you all have a great time.
  13. Q: What links Delia Smith and The Rolling Stones? A: She made the cake on the cover of their "Let It Bleed" LP.

  15. I wonder if the changes in Brixton (opposite Morley's) have had an effect on the number of accidents? The metal barriers have been removed from the pavements and the middle of the road and the area - IMO - looks and feels much better as a result.
  16. I went there this weekend and will definitely be back - very soon. Really good food, at excellent prices. FatherJack - I think it's open until 10pm on Sundays.
  17. I've shopped there (very infrequently) over the past 10 years or so - never noticed I needed to pay, never paid, never got a ticket. Must be lucky, I guess.

I almost fell for this one too, about a month ago. If even one member of staff notices that the signs are wrong and misleading customers, then it should be fixed right away. Judging by the responses here, it looks like that hasn't happened and the management doesn't care. But then (unless things have changed there recently) they leave reduced chilled food unrefrigerated and mix raw and cooked meat in the same display. Terrible place.

Do you mean a coffee and a sandwich for ?3.75? Perhaps then - as suggested by Toshlines - the sandwich was ?2.75 and the coffee was ?1. Is it "?4 for one sausage" or "?2.75 for a sausage sandwich"?
  21. It was off from around 12:15 last night and has just come back on. Apparently around 60 houses were affected. It wasn't the best day to be without heat or light...
  22. I'm pretty sure Blackstreet did it first (1994). It samples the Gap Band's "Outstanding" from 1982 - maybe that's what you're thinking of?
