There comes a time for all knives when sharpening is no longer enough and they need a good grinding*. There was a bloke in a van who dropped leaflets off and collected, ground and returned knives, shears etc. - maybe someone has his no. *I know! Absolutely no 'Carry-On' pun or phnarr in sight. I think I have election** fatigue. **I said election (phnarr)

A personal fight? I quoted you and blah as examples of a particularly patronising approach that has wafted over this thread and you chose to ask me what my problem was. You accused me of stirring. Of putting words in your mouth. And that I was motivated purely by boredom. THAT's personal. ETA: and please take "I thought you were taking 'a pass'" as my answer to anything you post in response.... then we can both move on.

Oh, and I too have voted. Turns out I was allowed to despite my frivolous approach to proceedings. Never trust the people.

Is that what I'm doing? Thanks for clearing that up... for putting words in my mouth (as it were). I knew you would know what I was up to.

"I really don't get how people..." "I don't understand what part of that people don't get..." Poor bewildered darlings. 'People' eh? Can't trust 'em, can't shoot 'em. Never mind, all over soon and you can start telling folks how they're thinking wrongly about all kinds of other shit.

Oh I think there are enough experts on board to explain to the slow-witted electorate that 'double' is actually more manageable than 'trouble' and would lead to a speedier resolution to all matters (particularly those arising around "which clothes even fit me" - a reference to European v UK sizes there I think). I would have thought the bi-lingual nature of the latter part might have swung it? "Come on and let me know (Pero tienes que decir) Should I cool it or should I blow? (?Me debo ir o quedarme?)"

So the arguments on here can be boiled down to "I'm a financial/legal/political expert and know more than you so I'm right and here are some bewildering stats and bogus tables to prove it" and/or "You are an idiot for thinking like you do and you will burn in hell for it". I don't think it will make much difference tbh and am still 'other' but will vote for the first campaigner of either side who button-holes me today. Prediction time then? Stay - 53% Leave - 47% Other - 0% (to small a number to register)

I've missed a few myself - come round quick don't they - but i think my lowly league position is more down to over optimistic expectations of attacking football and goal feasts. eta (much later) the site's prediction percentage of an Iceland victory v England is 0.00%... got to be worth a punt...

Unless something extraordinary happens it looks like being too narrow a margin of victory for either side to progress without taking the opposition with them. I expect there to be long negotiations to achieve compromises - together with a recognition that compromise is not a dirty word.

Midnight Express, not least for Giorgio Moroder's soundtrack. Young Frankenstein for comedy genius. King Rat, sweaty and brill Gumshoe, Albert Finney does bogey

rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > OK who's the one person voted 'other' Guilty. See, I don't see myself as 'unsure' as it makes me sound like a timid ditherer when i see myself as positively 'still-to-decide'. One of the reasons for this is that, though pragmatism suggests 'in', the idea of a leap into the unknown has an appeal - the perfect reason to pick 'other'. Also, if someone could explain why 'other' is there as an option, and what it embraces, then it might just deter the bloody minded among us from choosing it. Or not. Like the in or out vote really. Or not.
-
Have been 'in' (by a fag paper) for a while but am now, if i force myself to admit it, a genuine 'undecided' and could go either way. Yes, I know... there are so many unpleasant gobshites in the 'out' group and, well, we all want to play with the popular kids don't we? I dunno. Always was suspicious of those popular f*ckers.

As long as you remember those little pink bastards. Travel from ED to Canary Wharf via Canada Water, for example, and miss touching the discreet pink Oyster readers on the platform and you'll be charged as though you went via zone 1 even if you didn't. Ditto around to Whitechapel on your way east.

My habit is still mainly laptop based with the occasional tablet session - not gone mobile, that's only for real addicts.

Not heard of those for ages. Along with brown and mild, light and lager, brown and bitter, black and tan etc. > Briefly also tried Special Brew and barley wine. > Good heavens. Barley wine and blackcurrant - the cheapest (quickest) way to oblivion for any young chap - topped up with rum and black - if you were on a spree - made for spectacular vomit. Cans of Colt45 and shots of Pernod (sans black) were favourites as they were the only drinks unscrupulous landlords couldn't water down.

Even with the news that 'leave' has a slight lead in some polls I can't quite believe the powers-that-be* don't have something Lisbon-Treaty-ish up their sleeve in the event of that happening. Maybe scrapping the EU and renaming it the European Democratic Family (thus making the referendum null) and promising a vote on the EDF within the next ten years etc etc... *I think this should be read in a Somerset accent but don't know why.

Watched Corbyn on the steel-workers march - far from being a firebrand leading the workers in their fight against the Government he looked like he'd been taken hostage.
