I only felt sorry for the hack writers polishing up their Schindler's missed headlines.
  2. It is well known slang for a robbing git from my home town.* *Coventry.

After winning FA and Euro Cup Winners Cups in successive years West Ham's leading lights saved their energies to help England win a little something - now if Celtic's players had only been as selfless then Scotland would have- no... no that's just being silly.

  5. The late lamented (in this household) Irish Shop used to do good sacks of potatoes. I've had Lidl Jerseys which I microwave - all bland-ish pots seems to have more flavour that way.

Indeed - but if I were tempted to nit pick it should be added (thanks to The Scotsman) that it is only the oldest 'Association' football trophy as the Youdan Trophy (Sheffield Rules Football) is older and although no longer competed for it still exists. And it's not the oldest Association competition either - which I think was the point of your answer to Doc's query - that would be the English FA Cup. So it Should kick off at 3pm. It really bloody should. :)
  7. On a pavement I would rather pass someone ON a bike who was slow and in control than someone walking it along as the latter is twice as wide and twice as likely to give me a rap on the shin with a wayward pedal.
  8. I'm not sure - I once entered a secret code into an electronic calculator and it said 'BOOBIES' - I've never trusted Casio since.* *Dons foil hat.
  9. At 16 had a Batavus Moped - a bright orange, belt-driven piece of sh1t that was too heavy with unnecessary 'style' points for the 49cc engine (tank mounted high up like a 'proper' bike, bench saddle etc.) and was easily outstripped by my mate's dinky little Honda - a step-through with a bicycle saddle and half the weight - the smell of 2-stroke still brings back memories. Couldn't afford the 2nd hand Triumph Tiger Cub I wanted (lots around as they were only made up the road) but my older brother gave me his Honda 90 when he got a car - no clutch, 3 gears and not fast but a good workhorse - carried all sorts of stuff on that for a year or so.

With my usual mix of ridiculous bias and outrageous optimism I got about 14pts but had my one-week-of-the-year-at-the-top-of-the-weekly-predictions a couple of weeks ago and have surely done my usual season's double with a wooden spoon or three along the way. Good fun as usual - when one remembers to do it - thanks RD.
  11. Even some of his ultra right wing Christian friends are turning against him.... "Begone! Satan!"

After trawling through this and the other votey thread (not just the above posts) the choice is clear... Vote labour and the big earners will leave the country and a madman will borrow the earth and ruin the country and we'll all go mad and die. Vote Tory and the big earners will skullf*ck the poor, and a madwoman will sell our country to a mad yank with a dodgy barnet and we'll all go mad and die. Vote LibDem and- ... no, I've got nothing.

I did similar 4 years ago - sat with a Gooner friend at Emirates on opposite side of ground to the visiting WH fans and was just warned not to celebrate which seemed like common sense*. After an early temptation when we went ahead the tension eased as we lost 5-1. My friend(s) ribbed me as things unfolded and it became apparent to some around us that I wasn't a home fan but, as they were winning easily, they just found it funny. *Though I reckon I could have tiptoed out in one of the silent periods!

There haven't been, in all fairness, a great many opportunities for this but, as I was just crowing saying to my Spurs loving brother - COYI!!! :) ETA_ Is it St. Totteringham's Day now mum?
  17. Got to love a "trippy deluxe" Hammond organ.

Impossible given the blatant media bias at work here as usual. The kitten on the left (our left) has been marginalised by manipulating the image to have his/her head lower then the others and so projecting inferiority; whilst the kitten on the left (their left) is so far back in the shot as to appear much smaller and thus weaker than the obvious stars of the image - the centrist 'party' or 'centre-litterati'. Disgraceful. And I bet Laura Kuenssberg is behind it!

The move to Wembley for Spurts couldn't be coming at a worse time - just as they get some momentum going they have to play 'there'. I think it's gonna hurt.
  24. I'm sick of voting for one thing only to prevent another rather than because I believe in it but I'm going to try and suspend my desire to mock and base my vote on what each manifesto says. I know, naive innit?
