  1. I'd love to see it open again. It's a brilliant space.

Good times (especially during world and european cups). Schlitz was a favourite too. Now I'm old and a convert to craft ales.

  4. It's great. I'll take my son down there I think. Even Millwall is a bit expensive for me.
  5. I'll definitely still use Balfes. On occasion I've had to drop my bike into Evans in town for a quick fix. Now they have a central workshop where all the bikes are sent. You get no personal service at all. They opened a shop next to Condor once and had to close it after a year because Condor have loyal customers (and are a bit special tbh).
  6. Agree with all of the above. It would have been great to see a creative, interesting building go up. Particularly as it's a place that's supposed to inspire young minds.
  7. There won't be a shopping centre. The model is now massive ones like Lakeside or Westfield with good transport links. None of that applies.
  8. I would hate the commuter hell of a long train journey every day. Luckily we have relatives in the sticks so easy to get a regular fix of trees. I do like the country in the summer but I find it bloody awful in the winter.
  9. On the kids thing, London is great for young kids, but I think I may have become nervous as they grew older and became vulnerable to less savoury influences, like that MLE accent ;) I'm sure bored teens in Haselmere (or wherever) are just as prone to a bit of Ali G speak.
  10. Horrible cheap looking buildings. I don't see a Stirling prize heading their way. The Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton is a beautiful new school structure.
  11. That's really interesting. Speaking as someone who has had a near death experience (from being hit by a vehicle, Near misses that are very scary and depressingly frequent. The other day for instance a driver was coming head on at me (at speed) as he wanted to drive his car over a middle of the road speed bump.
  12. http://www.anorakonline.co.uk/ No idea if they are taking that shop.. But I guess it would be a good thing if they do. I can vouch for their towels as being of very nice quality.
  13. That might make sense. I think they're based in East Dulwich .
  14. Not strictly ED but it is on our doorstep and I did used to use the Olympic size pool lots. To me these plans look pretty good (only given them a quick glance): http://sydenham.org.uk/crystal-palace-sports-centre-to-be-decimated/#.VDzzzmx1TOY.facebook
  15. I expect Waitrose/Ocado do well enough from home deliveries.
  16. Which is pretty much the perfect mix in my book.
  17. Well that's something to celebrate. None of those places enrich an area.
  18. Thank god for that. Clapham in the evening is horrible. It's only the Old Town that's worth visiting.. but I wouldn't make an effort to go there from ED. The cinema will pull in people from a slightly wider catchment area. The good places in ED will do ok and the crap ones (Aventure Bar etc) won't. I think the new places that are due to open all sound rather exciting.
  19. It would be an awkward space to let I'd have thought. Very long and narrow.
  20. Sounds like there's a sweetie stall on the market now which might be promising.
  21. Complain to the school office. My son goes to Goodrich and they do put reminders in the newsletters.

  23. The new Electrical Showroom cafe on the Rye could also be good. Sounds like a lot of thought has gone into it.

Remember the indignation that abounded when Franklins put a few extra chairs out. Looking forward to Burro and the Black Lab. All the others (bar the silly dog shop) sound like good additions.
  25. Thanks buggie. Good suggestion.
