  1. What about a Cinepub? A pub where you could also enjoy a movie and a snack.
  2. Oh that's crap news for Forest Hill (if true).
  3. All this talk of cinemas and Bugaboos reminds me of when I used to take my son to the 'The big scream' at the Clapham Picture House. A great idea.. films for parents to take infants to (under one year). They just crank up the volume to drown out the screaming babies. It was hilarious. It took one whole screen to park the prams and a seperate one for the movie. Tickets for that were only about a fiver.
  4. A small bag of organic popcorn is all that's required. I'm sure, like other PHs they'll do a Saturday morning kid's film too. I can't wait.. come on Picture House with your great big painted hoarding!
  5. I always take my own popcorn too.
  6. The ticket prices at the Peckhamplex are cheap. But then people blow about ?8 each on popcorn and a bucket of coke thus evening out the ticket prices.

  8. Maybe we should put the suggestions together and send to the most likely candidates?
  9. Being on the South Circular should be good for business people driving. The local Wetherspoons to me in Farringdon is packed all day with people doing meetings. Granted they can't drink (much).. But somewhere with good easy parking where you can meet over a reasonably priced meal would be great. Put in fast free wifi and with an all day menu and I'm sure it could work. Then do an early bird family menu from 4-7 to get the after school market.

  11. It's better than you think. I used to work next the the Lloyds Bar in Camden lock. Food was ok. Also: http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/456706/Pub-fry-up-is-names-best-breakfast
  12. Me too. I'm sure they're aware of it but I'll suggest it anyway. It's a terribly sad sight at the moment.
  13. No.. I wish they would though. The CEO of Wetherspoons was quoted recently about the North/South drinking divide whereby, to paraphrase; everyone oop north is poor and would rather buy supermarket own brand lager and sit in front of the telly, everyone down south wants to go to a nice pub and eat delicious steaks washed down with a fine Claret. If this is true he maybe looking for some more sites in good areas. It would be great to see it open again.
  14. There are some really horrible houses under offer for ?700k +
  15. This thread is going horribly wrong.

If it stops being a pub in at least some capacity it leaves a huge area unpubbed (new word). Especially with no Half Moon or Grove Tavern. Hopefully it will. I've been to plenty of boutique hotels that retain a very serviceable pub/bar (eg Seaview on Isle of Wight, George in Rye). Otherwise Dulwich Village really is the town with no cheer.
  17. Just a time waster.. Nothing to see here.
  18. Luxury. Yawn..
  19. Numpty. I wonder what a 'privately educated school' is? Also if she's talking about Independent schools they've broken up for the summer.
  20. I can't imagine the corner of Upland and Barry Roads being a particularly fertile red light hot spot.
  21. Hope and Greenwood for me. Quality ice cream at prices that can't be beat.

  24. Hi Malcolm. Well I hope you are right about it converting back to a cinema. I went to see lots of films there when I was little. Battle of Britain, Planet of the Apes, When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth and Bambi to name just a few. If I think of anywhere that does a good cheap pint I'll let you know.
