  1. KO in 30 mins. We may have lost at the hands of the "mighty Lewes" ("mighty" my arse - SJ) and the Police, but Maidstone lost too (*snigger*) so we remain TOTL. :) BR - I've a pretty full plate at the moment, but like the idea of helping out our local club. Would DH consider one Sat. (or sometimes - less) a month? -------------------- GA-VIN RO-SE'S PINK AND BLUE ARMY!

  3. I think the WSC article is probably the one which reflects the current situation the most accurately. On a different note, I had no idea that the old Champion Hill stadium had hosted football at the 1948 London Olympics. Bloomin marvellous! ------------- GAVIN ROSE'S PINK AND BLUE ARMY!

  5. I didn't attend the post-match meeting, but a footie buddy did and he has sent me this link (thanks Weegee). http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/dulwichhamlet/news/new-owners-announced-1166657.html
  6. Yes. Unless something major like the insulation has "gone" (as happened to us). You could give Alex (of Speedy Repairs: 0208 305 8073) a ring. He's very good, and won't rip you off if you decide to use him.
  7. SO, SO proud of our local team. Recently promoted and now TOTL! http://www.thelinnets.co.uk/leaguetable.php?l=9&t=1

Yes, thank you LadyD. TG, is this the sort of thing you had in mind? I love it! http://www.highsnobiety.com/2014/01/03/skycycle-aims-to-transform-london-into-cycling-utopia/
  9. MM, you may as well just "come out" and be done - you (red) devil. :)) And, for the record, I think RK is a malicious and arrogant dick! Ner.
  10. Thanks everyone. Loz, I hadn't thought of the research/care thing...that was especially helpful. Merry Christmas all.
  11. There are quite a few! Which one is the most worthy of a donation? Thanks.

  15. Annabel42, I can only echo Peckhamgatecrasher's words. I am so sorry. You must be utterly, utterly devastated.
  16. If you are concerned over the recent spate of cyclist deaths and would like to see an improvement in infrastructure, then PLEASE sign this e-petition. It takes only seconds. http://petition.lcc.org.uk/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=1745&ea.campaign.id=23782 DONE.
  17. I thought this was about a certain Japanese alcoholic beverage and bonking.

  19. I can see why you are gutted - it's been BEAUTIFULLY restored. All that time and effort. Bastards. It's very distinctive in colour and I, for one, will be looking out for it. So sorry for you. I hope you get it back in a good state. :(
  20. Only kids' and giants' sizes currently remain in Lidl, though they said more "may" be coming in. Re. the "cycle locker room" you mention above, LadyDeliah, this is different and in addition to the rental scheme run by Cyclehoop. For those that aren't aware, this latter project is: http://www.southernrailway.com/southern/news/peckham-rye-cycle-hub-open-for-business/ where you may park your bike, get it maintained or you may rent one. I am unsure whether it applies to folding bikes only though. Will be interesting to see how popular it proves.
  21. Have to say, I was surprised to hear they are closing. Have been frequenting Homemade more or less since it opened virtually every week with hubby and friends. Chums from outside of London especially love it and about 2 years' ago I introduced it to my footie buddies where some of us have been going there religiously every Saturday afternoon post match. The staff have been absolutely wonderful in all of that time - catering for us hungry footballers even when soaking wet and covered in mud (and I mean COVERED). As for the food...OH MY! I also love the general ambience of the place: so chilled. I shall really miss the staff, especially Jamie who knew to add extra condensed milk in my "cafe bon-bon" without my asking for it and the little guy (friendly, speaks French, black - never did find out his name) whose memory of what customers like is quite remarkable. I hope they don't find themselves out of a job and would like to wish them all the best. Thanks for looking after us, guys. And, "unlurked", I KNOW "it's a cafe". Thanks for pointing out the effin obvious.
  22. @ Applespider Fabulous pics. of the "Space for Cyclists" event. Thanks for sharing. Whilst acknowledging the serious point of the ride, it really does look like it was a lot of fun. @ katanita Just wondered if you managed to email LCC regarding accidents and, if so, whether you would mind sharing any reply? Thanks. @ LadyDeliah Which Lidl did you go to? Was it the one on Rye Lane? Thanks. And, whilst I'm here: There are 97 new cycle lockers to rent in Southwark. If there are none near you and you would like to request some, then ring/email Cyclehoop: www.cyclehoop.com/rentals/london-borough/southwark 0208 699 1338.
  23. Hi BB. Basically, not only may an ex-employer do as you describe above, but - contrary to popular belief - s/he is under no legal obligation to actually supply a reference AT ALL - UNLESS this was agreed beforehand (so check your employment contract). There are exceptions to this general premise but, from what I know of your job, I don't think these apply to you. Note, it's a few years since I worked in employment law, but I have no reason to believe the situation has changed.
