  7. Have just asked hubby about your laptop. Could it just be the battery he asks? Anyway, May's issue of Which Magazine contains a report on budget laptops. If you are unable to access a copy, I could (hopefully with hubby's help) PM you a copy of it if you wish. Also, hubby had a similar problem with a laptop when it was 2 years' old a while back. PC World simply said: out of guarantee...tough...blah blah. However, I managed to (eventually) get him a replacement by quoting the Sales of Goods Act and arguing (lack of) fitness for purpose etc. Yours at over ?700 was not cheap, you could give it a go. It all depends on how long a ?700 laptop is expected to last. If Mr. H's suggestion is correct that 3 years might be deemed normal and/or reasonable, then you probably won't have much luck.

OK OK...Interesting reply though - and I think you are right about labelling going ignored much of the time. Though personally, I would prefer to see appropriate labelling. For me, it's all about customer choice. Now get down to Cafe Nero and get your caffeine hit before someone gives you a clip around the ear!
  9. Oh very funny Frankito! But, I didn't realise I was preaching. At least I didn't mean to. Am curious, that's all.
  10. OK, so you may not have an issue with eating it. But would you want to know whether or not it was cloned? I.e., would you expect to find some information on whether or not the meat came from a cloned animal on the packaging?
  11. Gosh, how awful. Thanks *bob*. Thanks SS. Fortunately, I don't think sexual assault is involved. Thank heavens. No police involved - only paramedics/hospital staff. The possibility of spiking has only just occurred to us following much head-scratching. As you say, too late for blood tests etc. It may well be that there was no interference whatsoever - and I truly hope there wasn't - in which case what else could have caused this? I realise it is probably too late for investigation(s) as this happened last week, but I just wanted to explore the possibilities. At the moment it makes little sense to me.
  12. May I ask what happened *Bob*? E.g. were you with others? Did you speak to strangers etc? Did you see anything suspicious? And how did you find out for sure (e.g. blood test)? Sorry, but I am really worried about my friend.
  13. Would it bother you? And/or would you want to know whether or not meat for human consumption had come from a cloned animal?

  15. I am very worried about a friend who has sustained multiple injuries as a result of sudden collapse following a few drinks at the pub. She does not remember how she got home or anything between some time at the pub and being found unconscious at home with various injuries. Is it possible that her drink was spiked? I was with her most of the time and saw nothing untoward, and she really did not consume that much alcohol (2.5 to 3 pints of cider over a period of several hours). I have seen her drink far more with no effect. And how prevalent is the spiking of drinks anyway? I should also add that we didn't speak to any strangers, though we sat at a very crowded bar. Various scans/X-rays since have shown no abnormalities to the head/brain etc. Is there another explanation for this? The thought that someone may have interfered with her drink is, frankly (for me), too horrible to contemplate. Has anyone any experience of such a thing. Or are there any doctors who may have an opinion on what could possibly have happened? I honestly don't know what to think. Thanks:'(.
  16. Well, it's like this, Lady Katharina van der Wotsit: S is S O is K N is B L is L ? is ? H is H and Brenda is Brendan Got that?:))
  17. Yes - thanks ianr. Now I know not to waste money on a Travelcard when heading to Surrey Quays.
  18. Thank you Loz. That I do (and chain!). For some reason, I assume that thieves, rapists and nutters are always going to enter via the front door, when - clearly - they don't. Thankfully, such unsettling incidents are rare in our little area - though that fact doesn't, of course, make it any easier for ratty's neighbour.
  19. Crikey - very sorry to hear that, ratty. Poor neighbour :(. Hubby is always telling me to lock the back door! Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know. *locks back door*
  20. You forgot Dustbin!
  21. LOL you've just brought back a memory of this record. Dear oh dear oh dear...
  22. Yeah...once in 35 years!>:D
  23. Was just asking... LOL! The Strawberry Police!
