  1. Did anyone watch the programme on Bobby Charlton recently. I've only just caught up with it. Emotive stuff. The guy is pretty amazing, I think.
  2. Do excuse the dumb question. I have never had either cable or Satellite TV, but am finally thinking about it as going to the pub to watch matches can prove quite expensive. I have googled, but am none the wiser. How do I go about this? Do I simply contact Sky or, as with broadband (e.g.), are there many providers of Sky Sports? Also, I notice that there are several Sky Sports? I only want it for football. So what do I look for, and how much should I expect to pay? And will I have to have an ugly satellite dish outside my house? A lot of questions, I know, but this is all very new to me. Thanks.

As a staunch Labour supporter most of my voting life, I too didn't agree with and detested Lady T's politics and policies. However, this thread concerns her (serious) illness and the fact that she (a human being) probably hasn't got long to live. By all means, if you want to comment on her time in office, do so. Be as vociferous as you like. But, I think decorum dictates that you should do that on a separate thread.
  4. All the time Mr. Medic, all the bloomin time. And the likes of you don't help either!

No, but I would like to send one jointly with someone else to a group of people. Not to worry. And thanks for getting back so promptly (so early in the morning too!).
  8. Well look at that...little Kalvin gets a mention...bless him...

Hello Admin, Can you tell me please, is it possible to send a PM from more than one person, e.g. jointly with another/other forumite(s)? If so, how? Thanks.
  10. I thought you did. No? Apologies if I misunderstood.
  11. Kalvin is great in that he doesn't do any of this "diving" or "lying on the ground" stuff in order to gain an advantage. If he goes down, he is up again in a jiffy. Sounds as though he hasn't changed. Shame Medic jnr didn't keep it up. And - yes - you should take him next season. DH may not have got their promotion this time around, but - if they continue to play as well as they have this season - I don't see why they shouldn't get promoted next year. Despite playing like troopers, they were unlucky at yesterday's play-off. Roll on next season!

  13. No, I think the FACF is on the 14th (City v Stoke). I believe it's the Champions League final which is on the 28th. No? But I am happy to stand corrected. And YES...it has a VERY nice ring to it LOL!
  14. Wow! That's only 10 years ago. Kalvin has grown a bit, but is still quite little. Certainly he's the shortest player, but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in skill on the pitch. He's very talented and fast - so much so that we have nicknamed him "the whippet". You should have seen him play yesterday - you would have been proud. Whilst they all played well, little Kalvin stood out as one of the best (if not the best). He seemed very sad at the end though; sat on the pitch looking very dejected, whilst his teammates tried to coax him into standing up to the cheering crowd. Do you no longer go and watch them play then? As for Medic jnr, he is the tallest! And he looks most serious. Again, a lovely photograph.

Ner Ner Ner Ner Ner And well played United. Stoke too! Glad to see Stoke are warming up nicely for the 14th!:)) Blue Moon...la la la la la la tee hee
  16. Awwwwwwww that is one GORGEOUS photo Mr. Medic. Beautiful. As for the current player, it wouldn't by any chance be the one with the ball? How long ago was that taken? That photo has warmed my heart Mr. Medic...it really has...(*looks for soppy-looking emoticon*)
  17. Yeah we lost. But Dulwich played superbly. Even a longstanding Leatherhead supporter congratulated us for Dulwich being the better side today (and gave me his programme - bless him). Fantastic game.
  18. No need for the "ouch"... It was bad luck on Dulwich...they played magnificently from the outset and gave their all right until the final whistle. Yes, we went into extra time and Leatherhead got ahead...but WHAT A GAME! For me, probably the best all season. Nice crowd too. We found ourselves sitting amongst Leatherhead supporters, but they were very tolerant of us Pink and Blues. An elderly gentleman gave me his programme as a souvenir. He must have been about 100 years old LOL! And we sat next to a dad of one of the players - so that was interesting too. A wonderful afternoon. And Dulwich Hamlet should be proud. Mr. Medic, your fella (no. 2) was there - he played exceptionally well. Weegee, your chum Martin was there too. Nice to see the Dulwich supporters out in force. I am exhausted!
  19. I forgot to mention...the goodies were free. A perk of the job, if you like. I suspect your "sandwich man's" wares were for sale - and thus available only to those who could afford them? Apologies if I am mistaken.
  20. Your "sandwich man" sounds as though s/he was brought in from outside? The Tea Lady I am talking about was an employee of the company. Her goodies were prepared on site. She was an integral part of the workforce. S/he was one of us - a small cog on a massive wheel - and yet she socialised with everyone on an equal basis. I.e. whether you were the company director or a minion like myself, we were treated equally in terms of a quick chat, a hot drink of choice and 2 biscuits. No exceptions. In short, it made us feel good - and valued. Simple, but true.
  21. Please don't laugh, but... Tea Ladies! And, in order to comply with equality legislation, a male would - of course - have to be included within that definition. But seriously, they could be one answer to making the workplace a more pleasant environment and a small step to genuinely increasing productivity. For starters, people wouldn't have to leave their desks to head for a robotic coffee dispenser (though there is a separate argument for saying that leaving the desk is beneficial). How much would it cost to employ a tea lady vis a vis the cost of purchasing, installing, maintaining and refilling/cleaning/repairing a coffee machine? Then there are the morale-boosting aspects of having a live person pass through the workplace with real tea/coffee and (hopefully) a biscuit or two. Employees with high morale = happier employees = higher productivity? Yes? My first employer hired a Tea Lady. She came around at the same time every day. We all looked forward to her cheery smile (s/he would have to possess a cheery smile or it wouldn't work) as we heard the rattling and tinkling of her trolley approaching. We were allowed a hot drink of our choice and two biscuits (one of which could be chocolate). Those little things made us happy. They were the days. And, on the rare occasion she was sick, we missed her. As for her holidays - didn't bear thinking about! We probably didn't realise it at the time, but I definitely think she had a positive effect on workers. Marge was her name - bless her! *hopes no-one will piss-take*
  22. *creases up* I guess that is the kind of analysis one might expect from a medic. But for the record, I quite like the blue too. Though my heart really belongs to red.
  23. No, I didn't. I knew they were doing really well, but not that well. Thanks! Brilliant news.
  24. WHERE on the website is this match mentioned? I simply cannot see it.
